    PCOS sleevers

I am on a couple groups on facebook for gastric sleeve. But I have yet to find one for women with PCOS. So a friend and I made one. If anyone would like to join you are more than welcome. Just search PCOS sleevers.
  2. I had surgery on 8-20-1014. I have lost about 66 pounds. I thought that, losing what I have, my cycle would become regular. I've never had a cycle on my own. So I don't know if this would make a difference. But I am still not having a period on my own. I've had a couple of instances where I spotted but no flow. I HATE going to the doctor so I've waited to see if my body would eventually correct itself. But no such luck. So I have put on my big girl panties and started going to a gyno. He has put me on metformin and in a month I will go back and we will talk about him putting me on clomid. I REALLY want to be a mother. I was just wondering if anyone else was in my situation where they are still not getting a cycle after losing weight.

    BCBS Federal, standard option

I called BCBS Friday afternoon and they told me that I am approved. So it took 5 days for me.

How long did you wait for approval from BCBS Federal?

I finished all the requirements and paperwork and gave them to the insurance specialist Monday. She told me that it would probably be the end of next week till I hear something. I called BCBS today to see if they had recieved my paperwork..I found out that they had and I have already been approved. I was so excited I wanted to cry. So I guess it was 5 days for me.

BCBS FEDERAL BMI requirements for sleeve

I also have BCBS Federal. I was told you have to have a BMI above 40 with no co-morbilities and if you are 35- 39.9 you have to have 2 co-morbilities. I am also having to do a 3 month weight loss program with my PCP. I also had to have 2 years of doctor's notes with a documented weight. They only needed one from each year.

    PCOS Pain

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) PCOS is a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. It also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. Most women with PCOS grow many small cysts on their ovaries. That is why it is called polycystic ovary syndrome. The cysts are not harmful but lead to hormone imbalances. http://www.webmd.com/women/tc/polycystic-ovary-syndrome-pcos-topic-overview

    Requirements for WLS?

I also have BCBS Federal. I have to do the 3 month supervised weight loss program with my PCP. But Scylla was right, it is 4 visits due to the initial visit. I also had to have 2 years of medical records showing my weight, a psych. evaluation, medical clearance from my doctor, a seminar, a support group, and a visit with the NUT and my surgeon. I am in the beginning stages myself.

    I'm in the medical field.

I am a CNA and I consider myself in the medical field. CNA's might be at the bottom of the totem pole. But we have the dirtiest and the hardest job. We are the ones that are right there with the patients day in and day out doing their ADL's. We are the ones that take the most abuse. I have worked with many LPN's and RN's that think that they are better than a CNA and they wouldn't even think about changing someone's brief.

    New to the site

I have been lurking around for about a week now, I am shy so it is hard for me to just jump in there. I am in the beginning stages of tying to get sleeved. I just got my letter of medical necessity today and started my 3 months of required weight loss program with my PCP. If everything goes smooth I hope to have the surgery done by September or October. I have one question for those who have already had the sleeve done. It is kinda weird and I haven't seen any post on this yet. I was wondering if anyone has lost significant weight in their fingers? I have fat fingers and my wedding ring is a size 10. I know it is a silly question, but I want to be able to buy a ring from the store without having to hope they have my size or if they can even get it sized to what I need.
  21. I am so glad that I found this post. I have just started looking into having surgery. Dr. Westmoreland is one of my choices for doctors. I don't know anyone that has had this surgery so I haven't heard anything about him or the other doctor.
