Just wish I could make a decision!
AprilHansen replied to ren0318's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Absolutely wonderful!! There are risks with all of this. I'm sorry if it appeared I thought the sleeve was a bad thing. There are lots and lots of happy sleevers and not that many revisions. We're all so different. Because I'm a sugar addict, the bypass was right for me. -
Hey long road, I just can't wait to get these darn staples out they suck so bad!!!Oh man... I get my staples out on thursday. I will be so relieved. To be honest, they sort of freak me out.

It IS a lot. But, i think, the more the better. -
Thats hilarious! I love my sugar free popsicles.

I've been blending cream of chicken soup as well as cream of celery soup with no problem. I haven't tried any cheese products yet. I blend everything with water to try to avoid gas pain.

I never even posted my opinion on any of the surgeries in this thread. I don't go around preaching about WLS. I was just saying I don't think it's inappropriate for these people to express themselves you can choose not to read it or not to even open the threads that are clearly on the subject. That is your choice but no one should have to censor themselves to cater to you especially when they are clearly responding to the subject of the post.Exactly. We're not trolling. We are giving opinions and experiences. -
Hair loss with band vs. sleeve
AprilHansen replied to mentalistfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone used Nioxin Shampoos/conditioners? I bought some and hope it helps reduce hair fall. -
Scared of stretch marks

I'd also like to know. I know I'll be doing lots of weights to fill in the "sag" with muscle. I wonder if those wraps work. -
I dont know if I'll juice or not. I'm afraid too much natural sugar could make me dump. Also the liquids go through the pouch so fast, I don't know much is absorbed. In a week I can start the pureed diet and I'm going to use the nutribullet for that :-) I'm also interested to hear if/how people juice.

I would definitely ask why. I love the sugar free popsicles. It makes the liquid diet so much easier. Its worth a conversation with your doctor.

How long off for a physically demanding job?
AprilHansen replied to chanc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry. All I know is the 6 week rule. I'm a week out and with the pain I'm having, I hope 8 weeks will be long enough. I'm self employed so I need to get back to work, but not like this... -
Beginning My Journey Soon... I hope!
AprilHansen replied to EmPro0619's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mid december seminar- March 24 Surgery. When I went to the seminar I had nothing but my referral. I saw the surgeon mid Jan for the first time, completed all the pre-op by March 8. Insurance approved March 13 and I was offered the March 24 surgery date because there was a cancellation. Otherwise, surgery would have been the end of April -

I think lap band folks have to get their band "filled" with fluid. It might also be called an adjustment? Its one reason I didn't get lapband. My insurance doesn't pay for these. -

I know for 6 weeks we arent supposed to lift anything over 15 pounds. I work with big dogs that like to jump on me so I'm taking 8 weeks off. -
Post surgery and depression
AprilHansen replied to ranchbrat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Kim I'm sorry you're feeling depressed. This surgery has so much build up (like christmas) and then its really not that fast of a life changer. I wish the results were more instant. I hope after I get my staples out, I'll feel like working out. I already take prozac so hopefully that will still work. I guess we just have to view this as a tool we've been given and make the most of it. -
You probably already know this, but do not take Ibuprophen or ANY other NSAIDS after gastric bypass. They cause ulcers and you can hemmorage...
-
Congratulations! I'm glad you feel good! I'm 7 days post op and still very sore.

lol thats hilarious! I dont know if i could just "taste" it.. without wanting to eat the entire thing. Sounds like you're having fun!

He just mentioned leaks. 2 years with the sleeve you should be fine as long as you're not constantly filling up with lots of heavy foods and putting a lot of pressure on the "incision line". Lots of people love their sleeve and have zero problems. -
Filet'd open like a fish?
AprilHansen replied to Wayne Hunt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this is the difference! I had mine done laprascopically 7 days ago. I have 6 tiny incisions. Some vertical, most horizontal. Fast forward through those surgery scenes!! lol you'll be fine! -
Instagram and Facebook are just as bad, I'm not sure why everybody takes pictures of their food but it is really getting on my nerves!Yeah! Why do they do that??? I guess they always did it but I wasn't as aware of it!

AprilHansen replied to ren0318's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon said that initially the bypass is harder....longer recovery, etc but the lapband and sleeve have more problems down the line. Sleeve leaking, band slipping. In my pre-op class of 12, three people were there to get bypass after lapband didn't work for them. Also, my insurance would not cover adjustments for the band. These are just my personal reasons. I needed to go "all the way" in order to make the mental commitment. -
