  1. I'm a week out of surgery. I'm in minimal pain and I had turkey for lunch. I'm in Tampa getting ready for my cruise to Belize. I planned everything perfectly. We are all winners!! We can do whatever we put our minds to. I took my nursing exam 3 days after my surgery and passed my boards. While on pain meds. We are stronger than what we think!

  2. This has been a great thread. I'm so glad you've shared the ups and downs. I've got a feeling I'll be the same way so I can learn from your experience. Can't wait to hear how it went today!

they came in, went over a checklist, started my IV, wheeled me into my or room put me to sleep and when i woke up it was all done. I woke in a little pain. they got me up and walking around about 20 mins after waking up. I had to take another swallow test then I was ready to go. I got myself dressed and waited on my ride. I was sleepy the rest of the day, im sleepy now. I am having some left sided upper back pain, and my incision is painful. I have only had pain meds and Water so far. I am not hungry at all.

  3. I know the changes are sooo weird. I was never satisfied with the amount of food I would have now I get full on a small sip Of Water. Lol I feel like water & Protein goes down a lot easier if it's really old. I started my Vitamins today & took forever to get my multi Vitamin in. The flavor grossed me out but was easily tolerated before surgery. All the others were ok. I think I'll have to try a different multi vitamin this weekend.

Are you taking the chewable vitamins

  4. Going through the same thing. Walking seems to be the only thing that helps with the gas build up. Also if the liquids are room temp they're easier to go down and you don't get the tight feeling in your chest as much. Feel like I'm sleeping too much tho and not getting all my Protein and Water in. Remember when eating tons was like nothing and now even a little bit is the hardest thing lol.

I went home late afternoon yesterday, in pain, not to much bloating. All I have had to drink is water and my pain medicine. I havent felt hungry at all. Im having some left sided upper back discomfort, but besides that Im not feeling so bad. My mom and sisters stayed with me till I feel asleep. Im still sleepy now. Thats all I want to do is rest.

  5. I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for April 23. My Dr. requires 2 weeks of 2 Protein Shakes per day with a small meal, then 2 weeks of liquids only. So, here is my question/issue.......I have been drinking the shakes and they make me really nauseous. The last three days I have just felt like I could vomit at any minute. I have tried 4 different kinds/flavors. I am drinking pretty high Protein shakes, 32 grams per.....not sure if that is the issue. Any suggestions?

    Try WonderSlim. They taste great!!

  6. Yay! I found my April buddies! I am new to the site, please add me! :) I am scheduled for surgery on April 11th. Looks like I will have a good group of friends to journey with on this long, long, winding road. Lol I started the pre-op liquid fast today. 4 shakes a day, Optifast shakes (EW!). These taste nasty, but they're the only thing the doctor allows his patients to drink. I've only been doing this for a few hours and I want a basket of onion rings and extra ranch.

I have mine April 11 as well!!!

  7. Either everyone here is way stronger than I am, or I am a major cry baby. My question is: when does the pre-op fasting get better? Today is my 1st day and I have never felt to miserable in my life. This is making me wonder what I signed up for. Please tell me that life as a bander will not be this way forever. I'm here sipping on my chicken broth, Protein Shake, and just downed a popcicle like it was going out of style. My head is killing me, my thoughts are all over the place, and I'm in an emotional funk. I read posts and people are like, "Today is my 10th day on my fast!" and they sound so encouraged and strong. I feel like sh*t. I'm mad at myself for being overweight and why did I get myself in this in the first place? I'm sad, because I cannot sit and have a happy dinner with my husband. Thank goodness I have a wonderful spouse who supports me. He doesn't furnish food in front of me because he knows how hard this is. I feel like I won't be able to make it to the 2 week mark for my surgery. When does this get better? When is there a light at the end of this tunnel of a hell called liquid diet?

    Hi,

I just started 3/27 and I must say it was very hard. I had one day to enjoy food until my liquid diet. I have had the jitters, and hunger pains. I am managing to stay full, but I'm going to the bathroom every 30-45 minutes. I'm drinking the knorr Soup stock. It is very flavorful along with flavored water. The first 3 days are the hardest. Hang in there were gonna make it!!!!
