So I've told you all about our weekend trips to Six Flags and how I've had to dig out some old shorts to wear as I keep going down in size....so today, I took the dog out before we left for Six Flags and my shorts literally fell all the way to my ankles as I was trying to take his leash off! I had to stop by the store and buy a pair of shorts as I had none that fit! I usually hated shopping because I would just look for the biggest shirt they had and a size 22 pants or 24 with a belt. But today....I had to step OUT of the plus size women's section and go to the other side! I picked up a 16...too big....picked up a 14. Fit nicely but my daughter said just try on a 12...just to see. And they fit!!!!! I almost cried. I came out of the dressing room to get her opinion and the lady working there said those look great! I was floored. They were just a little snug on me so I got both the 14 and the 12 and wore the 14 and a tank top! I don't think I've worn a tank top in public in like 10 years. Sorry to go on about this but my best friend doesn't seem to want to talk about my weight loss and that's ok. But I did have to share with you guys since you understand. Wooooohooo! Made my day!

I was the opposite. Before surgery I had severe Gerd/Acid Re-flux.
And even worse than constant heartburn, If I ate anything within 4 or so hours of going to bed I would be woken up aspirating on stomach acid.. It was terrible.
Since surgery, its gone. 6 months and not one bout of heartburn.
I really think the hiatal hernia repair done at the same time as the sleeve contributed.

I have always considered myself a DIVA...so I was ashamed to shop at stores that ONLY catered to plus size women, I wanted to fit in sooo bad with everyone else ( skinny) women that I spent tons of money shopping on shoes/purses and etc...being overweight really bothered me emotionally with crazee thoughts and feelings!!
I am very PROUD of everyone NSV!! I went from size 16 to a 14 and I can fit back in all my heels, gaining weight caused me to wear a sz 10 shoe and now Im in 9.5 and a few 9's again

Yesterday was my one year surgiversary of the sleeve. I was so nervous about it, but it was one of the best decisions I've made. I've lost 131 pounds and counting. My foot pain is gone, I'm active and feel great. I've gone from a size 22 to an 8 and actually enjoy shopping now. I'm able to do any activities my kids ask of me. I couldn't be happier!

@mysleeveid23 - i have the lump in my throat about 10 mins after i get out of bed and most days have it all day. I have never suffered with it when i go to bed however a neat trick i was told to do is raise the head of your bed. Sounds weird but i think it works. I have 2 bricks under mine!!! Give it a try you have nothing to lose....

I've gotten a couple stupid pieces of advice:
A friend recently, who is hypothyroid, mentioned she might take more than the usual dose of levothyroxine to speed up her metabolism, and I warned her not to do that as it could actually cause more issues with the thyroid (I'd actually rate this under the "dangerous" category, if there was one).
The VA MOVE program told us to "eat less, exercise more" (because we've never heard this before, anywhere) and to "take the stairs at work" (look, if you're pushing 300 lbs and you take the stairs once or twice a day, it won't help, sorry. What might help is 30+ minutes per day, 4+ days per week on stairs, at your target heart rate, and not a minute less).

This may not be stupid advice normally, but my coworker (who had lost over 100 lbs post op) and I were in an elevator at work the week I returned after my VSG surgery. I had already lost 42 lbs in the 7 weeks I was out and people assumed I had surgery, too. So this girl who knew my coworker had surgery looked at our cups and said, "Yall need to quit drinking your calories!" We both just laughed because we both had unsweetened tea! WTH?? Combined, we had lost over 150 lbs and you feel the need to try to tell us we are drinking our calories (when it was unsweet to begin with)? Unsolicited advice is the worst!!!

i love my friend who gets up at 5:30 am and jogs. and drinks green smoothies for Breakfast. but before i had my surgery she watched the movie "fat, sick and nearly dead." (about juicing) she was all over that sh*t. "you should do a 40 day juice fast! if this guy can lose 90 pounds juicing you can too!" i was like... "um, if i could live on vegetable juice for 40 days, i wouldnt be 100 pounds overweight dear!" btw, her husband did it, lost 42 pounds and gained it all back in 5 months.

I hear this a lot...oh the surgery you did, I know a lot of people who have done the surgery and gained the weight all back. So it doesn't work...I am thinking are you serious? And I would ask what kind of surgery did they do and what do they eat, oh I don't know but they gained it all back. So annoying to hear that!

I went to the Starbucks website to get the details. It looks like yours is from my fitness pal. I often notice discrepancies on that site and the loseit app too. Regardless, it still is less than the 1000 calories plus in a regular one. But if our total caloric intact is around 600-800 calories per day, 83-190 calories seems like a lot. My belief is everything in moderation. If I start denying myself things, I start rebelling and craving them more. It sounds like a great treat once in awhile and adjust your calories as needed. I find myself only being able to tolerate only a 1/4 of coffee post surgery. It gave me the worst upset stomach this morning and made me late for work
Update: actually, I don't think mine is for the sugar-free Carmel Syrup. So yours may be correct. Hard to navigate on my iPhone.

mysleeveid13 reacted to NothingUpMySleeve in What is the real point of this surgery?
I still get hungry, but it's different. Before, after two weeks on an 800 cal diet, I'd be hungry and craving anything just to fill me up a little more.
Before, It was like the minute I went back to eating like "a normal person" the weight would just plop back on. Well, since the sleeve, I have easily eaten 600-800 calories a day and it's ok.
Now, my hunger message is like someone writing "Hey, I'm kinda hungry" on a post it note. Before it was like a marching band playing a hungry song and flying a banner saying "EAT NOW DAMMIT" while throwing Cheetos to the crowd.

You may find that the protonix may help you. I have had a scope done due to narrowing of my esophagus (from the reflux), it is a painless procedure which only takes about 15 mins, they knock you out so you don't feel anything - slippery elm is from health food shops.

I am taking gaviscon when I really need it, but I no longer take PPI's they were making my symptons worse. The only additional thing I take is slippery elm, it's a powder which you mix with a little Water and apple juice - it's a healthy alternative which helps to coat the throat and esphoegus. I am told this will most likely take between 6-12 mths to correct I have already been 5 mths.....
