    My Worst Fat Day EVER!

You are remarkable for sharing your story with us. I'm so grateful to you because you show me how it should be. I mean, I have a tendency to crawl into a hole and pull the cover over me so that I don't deal with these things. I'm happy for you that you are in the position to have this surgery. We have much to be grateful for, don't we? God bless you Mona
  2. I got my first fill last Tuesday 11/20, and he put 1cc in. He gave me a slip of paper that reflected that with the additional information that I would be getting 1cc on my next fill. Cool.:nervous

My doc told me to go straight to mushies after I got my fill. He told me NO protien drinks at all anymore, no matter what.

    Schooled by the Band

    Does PB = restriction?
  5. I got a fill on Tuesday 11/20 and for that day and the next I didn't feel any different. Night before last I was on my way home and I stopped at Jack in the Box and got a taco. I was driving along and suddenly it seemed to get stuck. I had a horrible pain in my chest and I guess I experienced 'sliming' as well. I had to pull over and deal with it. Then there was last night. Late night snack: Turkey on white bread...soft white bread. OUCH! again it happened. And it was like the pain 'throbbed' like it was there and then ebbed for 30 sec and back again. Repeat. I'm not sure I have restriction. With all the snacking while cooking ect I haven't been able to really tell. I can still feel the area in my chest where the pain was. Before I started 'PB'ing', I made an appt. for a second fill in 2 weeks. I think I must have restriction. You'd think I'd know...... :guess

    feelin blue, need a boost.

Excellent advice Trystelle! Having been banded right around the holidays, I didn't even think about these feelings that are bound to pop up. You have to admit that these holidays are all about food and family. Probably in that order :biggrin1:. Thank you for your well-placed advice.

    When is your 1st fill?

Hi Holly, I had my first fill today and got 1cc too. I don't feel any different. I will schedule a fill for 2 weeks from now. I'd like to feel some kind of restriction. I didn't even have any after surgery. I was just in so much pain that I ate less. Didn't lose anything. I hope I can lose some weight cuz people are looking at me and think'n: "She's still as fat as ever".

    One month out

I just had my first fill today and it's as though nothing happened. My 'measly' is smaller than your 'measly': 9 pounds. I hope this isn't a cruel joke...:|

    Bandster Friendly Cookbook?!?!?!

I have purchased that book and though I haven't cooked from it yet, it looks very good. It gives you instructions with every recipe on how to serve it for your stage in the process. Great stuff.
  11. I am really trying to 'get with the program' and divide my eating time from when I drink. I have to admit that I haven't been getting my quota of fluids in and am rectifying that now. But I have had the weirdest sensation in relation to not drinking fluids with meals. At times, I feel a sudden desperation to have a drink to wash stuff down almost like a person who can't get air. Sort of almost a small panic-y feeling! I know I need to pound water in between meals. And I realize I have probably been dehydrated. But I just thought this was such an unusual reaction. The first time I felt it, it sort of startled me and of course I immediately got something to drink. Now that I am aware of it, I am prepared. It's not like a constant feeling but all of a sudden, perhaps midway through eating, it surfaces. Just wondered if anyone else had had this feeling.
  12. I have also lost 9 pounds in total. I get my first fill on tuesday (doc wanted me to wait an extra week and I showed him whos the boss lol). I am still trying to work the 'rules' and make them a standard rather than the exception. So here are my goals: Make a food plan for each day ahead of time and stick to it. Drink 8 glasses of Water a day (at the right times). Walk 3 times a week for a least an hour at a time. Lose 10 pounds in the next month (Dec.16). Extra effort is required...lets really push this month and see what kind of a total weight loss we can pull off! :high5: Valerie
  13. I used to love hot stuff (chilies). My DH is a big baby and can't tolerate anything with heat. Now, he can eat things that feel like they are burning the heck out of my tongue. It's so weird! I love tabasco and now it's almost out of the question. I hope it eases up a bit cus I LOVE HOT STUFF!

    Banded, now what?

You said it all so succinctly Holly and I am one of those that is able to eat anything also right now. Look at my weight loss ticker, you can see that I have lost only 9 pounds INCLUDING the pre-op diet. I am happy for those 9 pounds but I have a hard time not looking at others tickers without envy lol. You do know that you are a true leader don't you? I hope you are able to use those skills in ways that are profitable and enriching for you. And when you're gone, we all feel it. So you have to share all your downs with us. Cuz I want to share the UP-times with you and I'll only know they're 'up' if I experience your 'downs' with you as well. Thank you for sharing your insights with us. I had just woke up this morning with the knowledge that I am going back to work (I had a vacation connected to my surgical off-time) and that people are gonna have expectations (they are not educated about the band and probably expect 'bypass' results already) which of course I am not going to meet. I'm not sure I want to educate them or just be quiet and let them wonder. I lean toward the latter cuz I don't think they have the attention span it would require to explain it all to them lol. Too much work!! Keep up the good work girl! I'm with you all the way. Valerie

    Banded, now what?

I have had a very hard time losing weight even before surgery. I lost like 10 pounds and gained 2 pounds in the third week after surgery. My body tends to get used to a certain weight and it will try to rebound to that point. Hearing that all of you have lost so much already has been something I'm pondering but I haven't given up hope. I just got back from a week-long cruise to the caribbean with all that entails. I was able to eat anything and everything. We went to the buffet for dinner each night instead of the fancy dinners. It was really very good. I was dreading coming home today and having a confrontation with Mr. scale. Well, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't gained any weight. I realized as I was going through the week that I was filling my plate up but eating very little of it. My husband was coaching me the entire time: "imagine what you think you would eat and cut that in half." Stuff like that. But I could really tell the difference between how much I could eat before and what I was able to eat now. Even so, I really was prepared for a weight gain. The last time I went on a cruise (April), I gained like 6 or 7 pounds. My point is that even though I feel like I can eat anything, my portions are obviously more under control (not from me) than they were. For this I am so grateful. I get my first fill on Nov. 20th and am really hoping for a bit of restriction to kick my weight loss into gear. Good to see you again Holly. I was worried about you. Have you seen NicNacNut?

    Wear a swimsuit?

I'm off to the caribbean and wondered if anyone else would wear a swimsuit as you are right now. I read a thread where one girl said she LOVED snorkling and I am going to be able to do that...if I have the nerve. Let me know what you think. I know I SHOULD be able to do this but can I. Hmmm.....:guess

    Countdown to Onederland!

Hi y'all! I'm at 217 this morning and that's fluctuated since last week when I was at 214. I'm having a difficult time and am a bit nervous about going on vacation tomorrow. We are going on a caribbean cruise for 7 days and at this point I can eat most foods. I haven't had steak or chicken/pork or anything that is real coarse but there is so much variety onboard a ship. I guess I will just have to try hard and walk around the ship as much as possible. My restriction is minimal. I really thought I'd be much lower in weight than I am at this point. In any case I would love to be on the path to onederland.
  18. I'm off to the caribbean this weekend. You have no problem snorkling? I mean that involves putting on a swimsuit! I would love to snorkle.
  19. Sounds like we all have a touch of it eh? I have put on 3 pounds in the last 4-5 days and have a cruise I go on beginning this Friday. Not good. I do have the body bugg but I've even lost the interest to wear that secondary to the weight gain. We were told we would likely not lose and may gain weight during this time but I DO NOT like it. Last night I was eating some Golden spoon yogurt (20c/oz) and it was a sizable bowl (bout 8 oz). My husband goes by and says, "That's why you put on a pound". He was smiling but when I looked up at him, the smile melted away lol. He paid for this surgery so this gives me more feelings of pressure. I know that when I DO go back to work they will all expect me to be on my way to weight loss heaven. *sigh*. All these pity-pot feelings when I should be thanking God for all these blessings He's heaped on me. Just goes to show you, that no matter how much you have, you always want more. Thanks for your ear (eyes, I should say lol).

    replace this band

My surgeon put in the 10cc band when I heard that I would be getting the AP band. I am so upset. I want the ap band. What should I do???? P.S. self-pay

    When is your 1st fill?

I had my fill appointment changed to Nov. 20th: a week sooner. YeeHaa!:bounce:
  22. Is this a 10cm band with capacity at 4 cc?
  23. I'm curious if most docs use x-ray or do they just go ahead a poke away at you? I won't have a fill for a month but it's good to know how they do it for the most part.

    Wrong band

My surgeon informed me today (post-op appt) that they used a 10cc band instead of the AP band. I'm so upset that I can hardly think straight. I haven't read much good about the 10cc band. I'm self-pay and want my AP band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Went for my post-op visit today and the doctor checked my chart and had to relate to me (after I questioned him) that they busted the last AP band during my surgery and had to put in a friggen OLD style band. I'm self-pay and I wanted the AP. He said "don't be upset, this one is easier to fill and it's a very good band". I wanted the AP band!!! No here I am...with a band I didn't want at $15,000. What is my recourse at this point?? Someone help me calm down here. I'm sober for a year and all I want to do is go get a martini.....*tears*....this always happens to me.
