  1. Thank you all for responding to this post. I still haven't lost anything but I can feel a little of the feeling of restriction. Certainly not enough because I'm hungry between meals and can eat more than I should be able to at meals. I still haven't been able to really get the Water thing going on and eating on a regular schedule without any in between is tough. Eating in the middle of the night is still a problem. On top of all this, I have the ultimate excuse. My faithful companion, my empath cat...my love of my life had to be put down on Saturday. I have had her 20.5 years, since she was 8 weeks old. She knew me so well...and I had to do this for her...so hard. She got old: and in the last week she was unable to really stand on her back legs. She'd fall over if you breathed on her. I still can't believe she's gone. We buried her in a secluded patch in our front yard. It hurts. __________________

    Surgeon Seeking Feedback

I had one experience that really soured me on my band doctor. I was told I would get the new AP band and when I asked him about it at the one week checkup he told me that they had 'punctured' the only AP they had on hand and instead used a 4cc band. I was shocked and disappointed to say the least. I had researched the bands and knew what I wanted. What would you have done in that instance? thank you, Valerie

    Night Eating - Sleep Eating???

I'm not asleep when I do it....it's just become a bad habit. It's usually Cereal and I know I need more fill because I can eat a whole bowl. I work evenings and get home about 12. I need to get up during the night to pee several times. I always have since I was a little girl. I get real thirsty at night so this is probably part of it. But anyway, when I wake up around 2, I slip my slippers on and head out to the kitchen. I get the cereal and go back to my room (sleeping husband right next to me) and munch my cereal. I know he doesn't understand why I just show some willpower. *sigh* I get up in the AM around 10:30 or so and don't really eat until an hour later. So my timing is off. It's real hard to get the timing of the food/water down as well. I have to stop the midnite eating....it's killing my success.
  5. It's so weird! It's not like the 'full' feeling I used to have. It's like you feel it in your chest and when it starts to threaten to come back up you kinda know to stop lol. I remember someone saying that they had to adjust to each band adjustment. Like it was getting used to the band all over again. I am definately not used to taking small bites and chew chew chewing. It's something I have heard alot about but up until now had no need of. It's a little hard to remember at first but you get a signal *ouch* if you forget. I'm starting my exercise this Monday. We have rain here in Socal right now!! Amazing and great. We are cleaning out the garage this weekend and monday I will head to the gym with my Bodybugg. I hope I lose some weight. I haven't at all yet. It will feel sooooooo good. Thank you God for this lapband. :amen: Valerie

Do you just want to share???

I know MO people and many of them do not have insurance or the option to have WLS.

    When is your 1st fill?

Why do you have to wait until January? I got my second fill on Tuesday of this last week and didn't feel any different. So yesterday I called the office and got in in 45 minutes. Third fill has really helped. 2ccs total in a 10cc band (they hold 4-5cc's). Call your doctor and insist! There is no reason to wait. It's a pure waste of time. Be firm....

    5'6" - What weight/size are you?

I'm 5'5 and weigh 220. I have been this weight (give or take 8 or 9 pounds) for a year. I wear a size 20. I got my 3rd fill today and am at 2cc. and am finally feeling some restriction. Hopefully I can start losing weight now.
  9. I went back to the doctor today and he put another .5cc into my band for a total of 2cc. I really hope this will help. He told me to wait a couple weeks before coming back lol. I will do that. He also told me that walking wasn't exercise. News to me. I guess he wants me to do muscle building exercises. I can do all that. I just want to feel some restriction. I can eat very healthy, it's the amount that sometimes causes problems. I pray that this helps a little.

A Father’s Comfort Bible teacher Kay Arthur tells about getting out of the car one day, arms loaded down with books, and not wanting to go into her house. She was a young widow with two children, and it had been a bad day. She was hurting. As she stared at the grass, her mind went back to a time in her childhood when she had been running through the grass toward her dad, terrified and screaming. He had scooped her up in his arms and given her comfort. She wished that she could be a little girl again. She wished that she had someone to hold her right then. As she turned to go into the house, she suddenly saw herself in her mind’s eye, a little girl in pigtails, flying down a vast marble corridor. Oil paintings bigger than life hung on the walls. She could hear her little shoes on the marble floor and see the tears that ran down her cheeks. It was a long corridor. At the end, two huge gold doors glistened in the sunlight which filtered through beveled cathedral windows. On either side of the imposing doors stood two magnificently dressed guards holding huge spears and blocking the entrance into the room beyond. Undaunted, the little girl ran straight toward the doors, still crying, “Abba!” She never broke her stride for, as she neared the doors, the guards flung them opened and heralded her arrival: “The daughter of the King! The daughter of the King!” Court was in session. The cherubim and seraphim cried, “Holy, holy, holy!” and the elders sat on their thrones, dressed in white, wearing crowns of gold, and talking with the King of Kings. But none of this slowed his daughter! Oblivious to everything going on about her, she ran past the seven burning lamps of fire and up the steps leading to the throne, and she catapulted herself into the King’s arms. She was home and wrapped in the arms of his everlasting love. He reached up and, with one finger, gently wiped away her tears. Then He smoothed the sticky hair on her face back into her braids and said, “Now, now, tell your Father all about it.” Kay Arthur walked into the house, left her books on the table, walked through her house, and knelt down by her bedside. She told her Father all about it. :amen: * * Kay Arthur, “Lessons on Love” in What My Parents Did Right, compiled and edited by Gloria Gaither (Nashville: StarSong Publishing Group, 1991), 16–18. 11. I had my second fill yesterday. 1cc on my first fill and .5 for this one. No restriction to speak of. My doctor had told me to make an appointment 4 weeks down the line, when I left yesterday. I called today and made it for next week. I don't see any reason to waste time...I am currently at the weight I was prior to beginning this whole process. I'd like to see some results. I admit, I haven't been exercising (multiple excuses, but mostly because of school) and will begin that this week. I go back a couple months in the support thread here and see people in july who have just got their second fill. Why wait so long? I can understand if you have to travel, otherwise, lets get the ball moving.

    TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

I am where you are...and completely understand. I see people at work looking and me and wondering, though no one has come out and said anything. I haven't lost ANYTHING post-op and have probably put on most of the 9 measly pounds I lost. I get my second fill tomorrow and am thinkin this will really help. I am glad that you are able to come here and find some solice. It takes only one post to hit the spot sometimes and we have to be here for each other. Keep on keepin' on and hopefully the slide gets a little steeper (and slippery-er) in the coming weeks. Valerie

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

I go in for my second fill tomorrow and I was given a piece of paper that stated I would be getting another 1cc (had 1cc 2 weeks ago). After the last fill, I could still eat alot but I really pb'd if I ate bread or dry chicken etc. Not consistently but enough to know there is some restriction. I haven't lost any weight and I'm sure when I go in tomorrow, I will have gained some. I just don't have the gumption to exercise or diet. I want the band to 'help' me and I haven't had that yet. *fingers-crossed* Hopefully tomorrow will start my journey. Good luck on Thursday....

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

Do what you have to do to get what you need. Sometimes I think its so arbitrary and they have this 'power' over you. I'd wear my combat boots (guess I'd have to buy them first lol) and put the rocks in my pockets. When they see you've gained 10 pounds, maybe they'll believe you.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

You sound exactly like me SueSue. I started at the same weight and height as you and am going for my second fill on tues, Dec.4th. I have lost under 9 pounds in total. I feel some restriction from my first fill and am encouraged that I will have a much better chance to lose after the next one. 1cc for the 1st fill and another 1cc. on Tues. If I were you I would barf if I had to. I would get me another fill until it worked! I have looked back on some of the threads for people banded in May and June and some are not losing. They haven't even had a second fill, for heaven sake. Why would you wait??? I just don't get it.

    Christian bandsters

You know, when I began this thread way back when, I really intended to be here more. Now, I come here and see what a blessing it has been. You cannot know how awesome it feels to know God used me and the need was so great. It's like the witnessing that was described on here awhile back. Your life is your witness. How you conduct yourself and allowing God's light to shine THROUGH you. You never know when the Lord will use you or HAS used you. You don't NEED to know. But if you could look back somehow and see the lives you impacted because of your love of God, I'm sure it would be quite stunning. Praise the Lord that he uses us for His great good. I'm not worthy and I feel so honored. Thank you Jesus for blessing us so thoroughly and giving us each other for support and love. I was especially blown away by Dozy's testimony. I felt anger FOR her. She was so strong in the Lord through such a horrible disappointment. I pray that I could be as strong as she was. God bless Dozy, I pray. She has touched so many with her devotion to you. Amazing in Your strength. So lets keep this thread hoppin'. God is definately in it. He started it after all :girl_hug:. YSIC, Valerie

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

I swear I will put rocks in my pockets if they try to pull that crap. Theres more than one way to skin a cat! :bandit
  21. I work with anorexics and I've never seen an overweight one. Have you been hospitalized for it? I can understand becoming addicted to dieting and 'ketosis' but I think you have less to be concerned about having never been underweight. It all still needs to be addressed with your doctor and counselor. This is a huge part of the yo-yo syndrome and maintaining weight loss. I hope I haven't offended you. I wanted to assure you more than anything.

    All frustrated October bandsters....

I have this as well. I can eat more than a few bites but have had PB's when trying to eat a sandwich on white bread. I eat less than I used to but am hungry in an hour or so too. I think we have some restriction but not enough.
  23. cQQlgirl

    I must be stupid

He wants me to eat food rather than drink because it keeps you full longer. I really didn't question him because it seemed to sorta make sense.
  24. cQQlgirl

    Schooled by the Band

But I meant that if you have PB's can you say you have restriction? Since I posted that question, I've come to the conclusion that I have some restriction but not enough. I eat smaller amounts but am hungry in like an hour or two. So obviously the food is passing through faster. And certain foods are 'not acceptable' by the Great Bandolino. I can't wait until my next fill (a week from tuesday). I am about the same weight now as I was when I began this journey. :straight

    Frustrated-HELP!

I completely understand what your saying. I've only had one fill but it's not effective. I got on the scale this morning and I'm up 3 pounds. That would make my total loss since the very beginning of this journey 5 pounds. I'm sorry you are feeling so bad...I also feel like this is another failed plan to lose weight. I really think/hope that it will eventually kick in but I'm completely off plan and trying to rectif that. It's like dieting before band. Grrrrr.....
