He told me as long as I felt comfortable but I had a complication with dehydration and my liver hurt for about a week after surgery so I didn't start untill I went back to work which was 2.5 weeks after surgery. Of course I still walked my little walks but nothing much more than that. Glad you are feeling better!

    No Restriction!!

Thanks for all your replys! I have not been able to get to a computer for a couple of days! Yes, I was able to eat a whole bagel and today I one of my DD (developmentally disabled client) out to lunch so I got a cheeseburger and parfait. Ugh why I am doing this???? I think it is becuase I have no restriction so I feel I can eat whatever (too a point of course) This is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I just don't know what to cook anymore becuase I am so used to cooking the way I did before or coming home and just popping something in the microwave.

NSV - Normal size clothes - whoopeeee!!!

Congratulations Pizzicato! That must be such a great feeling! Mushies YUM!
  7. Wow! I am the same way! One minute Im happy the next Im crying. I have been on depression medications before but I really don't want to go back on them because I think I just need to actually deal with my emotions instead of masking them with drugs. I just feel very alone and I had a fight with my husband last night and lets just say I slept on the couch.

    Loving the mushies!

I still have to figure out to cook fish besides deep frying it and baking it with brown sugar/butter/garlic (really good on salmon by the way. Do you just put in the oven?

    Whew *warning TMI*

I had dry heaves and found out I was dehydrated so I had to get re-admitted for IV's. IT IS NOT NORMAL TO THROW UP OR DRY HEAVE PLEASE CALL YOUR DOCTOR. GOOD LUCK!

Just a reminder there is a group on yahoo that Park Nicollet Patients put together its called PNCBandsters. Also we meet the first Wed. of every month at The Bank Building if anyone is interested. Carol (Dr. W's nurse is always there). Some people also meet every Wed. at a Perkins in Bloomington. I haven't gone yet because it just hasn't worked out for me. GOOD LUCK AND WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

Hi Pizzacato! Yes, I did get banded on Jan. 2. I am feeling much better and going back to work tomorrow! I just started my pureed diet yesterday with some blended up chicken and spaghetti sauce and blended green beans YUM!! I was so excited to eat real food that I forgot how much I could actually eat at once LOL Its dissapointing yet satisfying at the same time! I have lost about 24 pounds since starting my liquid diet so I am happy about that! Dr W. did my surgery as well and I was really happy with him. He was really informative and he even recorded the surgery for me! The one thing I was suprised with was how much my liver hurt the following week. I hope your are doing well I know eating well is hard to stick to sometimes because sometimes you want to eat five cookies and don't know why Oh yeah they taste good :-) Keep up the good work!
  15. Hello! I had my surgery on Wed. and everything went fine. I asked my surgeon if he video tapes it and he said he would for me! My DH and I watched it last night WOW that was cool! I stayed overnight in the hospital and went home Thursday late morning. I ended up throwing up at like 2 and then dry heaving in the middle of the night. I called my nurse and they had me come in right away because that is not normal! So they took out some fluid from my band and put me on IV's because I was slightly dehydrated and they also changed my pain medication. Amazingly I haven't needed any since yesterday! Everything is going well though and excited to be a bandster! :clap2:

Had my surgery on Wed. and feeling better!

Hey Chrisann! I know what you mean. I have to force myself to drink and drink so I don't go back into the hospital for dehydration. Make sure you drink! When Im watching TV I make sure to drink at every commercial and try and get up and move after every show is done. How is your pain level? I havn't needed much medication since friday so thats nice. Where did you have your surgery done again?
  18. Hello everyone! Hope you all had a nice holiday! I started my pre-op diet on Sunday and boy has that been tough with Christmas! I ended up having a small plate of food on Christmas :-( but otherwise been sticking to it. I am a little discouraged though I thought I would of lost more weight then this. My weight has been fluctuating this whole month: I weighed 277 at my appt. with Dr. W and then weighed myself on Sunday (about 2 weeks later) at 284 then for the past two days I am at 280. I called my nurse yesterday and told him about my frustrations and he said that as long as I stick to the liquid diet I should be fine and no they won't cancel my surgery. I am still worried though what if they look at me and go you didn't try hard enough? Last night my best friend was home from Boston so a bunch of us went out to dinner so I ordered French onion Soup with no cheese, no croutons, and mostly broth. Do you think that was ok? :help: Most of my days have looked like this: Breakfast: 2 carnation instant Breakfast in the morning 34 oz Water Lunch: 1 cup chicken broth SF Jello 1 Carnation Instant breakfast Water 3:00 pm 1 carnation Instant Breakfast Water 6:00 pm 1 carnation Instant Breakfast Broth SF Popsicle Thanks! -Megan

    Discuraged with Pre-Op Diet

HI Suzanne! Thanks for your reply! Its nice to know other people are having the same problem. I am having surgery Jan. 2. I tried a packet of theunjury strawberry last night and it did fill me up but the taste was kind of gritty but I mixed it with Water. Does it taste better with milk? I am jealous you get to eat meat and veggies!! Lucky you! Where are you having the band done?

Woot-woot only 10 days to go!!

Wow JTag! I can't believe they are saying that because everybody loses so differant. I called my nurse to double check on that and he said that as long as I keep to it they don't care how much I lose before surgery. I gained about 8 pounds though after I saw him so I have dropped about 4 which puts me at 280 but when I saw him I was 276 so I am hoping to drop another 10 pounds to at least be under 276. Do those Water pills help too??
  21. Megmarie21

Wow. This preop diet is something else.

Chrisann-Your nutritionist was nice to you!! Mine was really mean and judgmental! Lets just say I won't be going back to her again. I know I am only supposed to have liquids but I saw other peoples and they are able to have low carb so I allowed myself some turkey and veggies on Christmas. Today has been tough though I got on the scale and I haven't lost a pound yet so I called my nurse all worried they won't let me have surgery.....but he said it was fine as long as I was sticking to the diet. I keep pushing on and keeping myself busy because of the end result. :-)

Hi Crystal, I started my pre-op diet on Sunday and have been drinking mostly Carnation Instant Breakfast, broth, SF Jello and SF popsicles. Oh and lots of Water. I had a little plate of food on Christmas but other than that doing pretty well. For the first couple of days I found myself just grabbing something and eating it without even thinking about it until I was chewing. Yesterday I did really well and today has been good too. I am finding that I am really tired though so I have been trying to keep myself busy and drink a lot of water. I know they say you can have coffee but I have actually cut down on my coffee intake the last couple of months. My surgery is 6 days away and I am so anxious that is less than a week away. I bought a couple of books for when I am off. How are you doing with everything? Decided where your "last supper" is going to be? Mine was at this awesome Thai place in Minneapolis. :-)

Wow. This preop diet is something else.

My pre-op diet consists of Carnation Breakfast 4-6 x/days, broth, SF jello and SF popsickles

Woot-woot only 10 days to go!!

Hello!!! I am so excited only one week till surgery!! Finally a new years resolution I will keep! I started my pre-op diet on Sunday which consists of: Carnation Instant Breakfast 5-6 X/Day, broth, Water, SF Jello and SF fruit pops. It was hard the last three days and I did well except yesterday I had a small plate of Christmas dinner. I felt bad but I just picked myself up again and have been drinking a lot of water today! It also will help to not be around all that food all day. How is everyone else doing? Sounds like some of your pre-ops are a lot easier than mine....
