Oh no good luck! I hope no strictures and everything goes well. I, too have been having vomiting issues on and off this week...it's so strange. I see my surgeon for my first post op appointment tomorrow. Hope we all get better fast and soon! Hang in there Krissy....sending prayers and hugs! Xo -
2 week post op! 30 min drinking rule s**ks!
Jenuine629 replied to KrissySMD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh it's torture!!! And even when eating too. Sometimes I feel like it I need it to help swallow. But it's a new normal and retraining. We are all learning and finding what works. Baby steps. I need to get more liquids in. Still can't do water yet. Thank goodness for shakes, vitamin water, and crystal light. Well get there girls! I see my nut and doc on Monday, If any ideas, I'll share. -
I work oncology med surg and my doc gave me a minimum of 6 weeks and said it could be more if I didn't feel ready. Doesn't want to risk a hernia, etc with lifting, pushing, pulling, etc. Hope you can get more time.

Still nauseous after 10 days plus no stamina
Jenuine629 replied to KrissySMD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having stamina issues so bad. I get really shaky in the shower (not dizzy or nauseous) but it takes everything out of me. Even getting dressed but yet walking no problem. Not sure what's going on....wish I had more energy! Also, I've been having a lot of lower back pain and I don't know why. I'm passing gas, voiding ok, having bms. But it hurts, probably even more so than my incision. Anyone have any ideas? -
June 2014 Sleevers Check In!
Jenuine629 replied to SnohoGal98296's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your experience sounds similar to mine. I'm getting more fluids and Protein in each day, however, I have yet to sleep through the night, up every three to four hours, and I'm utterly exhausted. Pain seems to be better today. I'm coughing without feeling like my incisions won't bust. Hopefully things will get better! Keep up the good work everyone. -

Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
Jenuine629 replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have stage 2 puréed soft foods...per my NUT, I can have flaky fish and mashable veggies. I tried that and was looking so forward to it for dinner, but no dice. I took one bite, even with good through chewing, and had pain with both the fish and veggies. I stop immediately. I drank a full muscle milk instead. Try again next week. Disappointed. Trying so hard to get my proteins in. I feel weak, pain at one incision...past two days I've been getting shaky in the shower. Not sure why. Going to try to increase fluids too. If it happens again, I'll call surgeon. Learning as I go I suppose. Any one else feel like this? It's discouraging.... -
Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
Jenuine629 replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm post op day 6. Sleeved on 6/4. My issues are pain at the large incision site. Hate how the pain medicine makes me feel, so it's been a challenge. Just wish I could sleep at night more comfortably. Can't sleep straight through. I'm in stage 2 diet - which is soft and puréed foods. Been eating a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, and Soups. No issues eating. Taking it slow and really listening to my new sleeve. If it feels funny or strange, I stop. My concerns are getting Fluid and my Protein in. Going to try to up those today. My NUT and doc say different things. Doc told me 20-40 oz of fluid per day and 50 gm of protein per day. NUT says 48-64 oz of fluid per day and 60-80 gm of protein per day. I'm doing the best I can but going to stop by GNC or Vitamin shoppe today to see if I can get some shakes or something else to increase my numbers. -
I don't think I'm getting in the Protein I need. I've been eating yogurts, cottage cheese, and lentil Soups. I tried a smoothie with whey protein and it didn't sit too well. Going to try to go to GNC or Vitamin shop today and see what else I can get. What is muscle milk? I'm willing to try anything to get more protein in...today is post op day 6.

Just got home today. Surgery went well, but had a hard time with liquids. Every time I drank either Water or Gatorade, I would cough up saliva or cough bad enough that I would spit up the Gatorade. Once the surgeon switched me to puréed foods, I did much better. Cough is still there some but not spitting up. It was so bad at one point, I regretted doing the surgery. I was in so much pain from the cough and thinking you can never be able to hold stuff down...it was scary. Hindsight is that I was exhausted. Had no sleep in the hospital. I would finally get a good nap in and some one would wake you up for vitals or I had a lab draw at 3am. I was so upset because I desperately needed sleep. Home so far has been good. Been eating small bits and able to drink (very slowly) a whole bottle of Vitamin water zero. Pain still an issue at one site but manageable with meds. Here's hoping to successful post op recovery! Good luck to those having surgery this week! You'll do great!

I'm with you tomorrow too lolly!!! Good luck. We can do this! I have to be at the hospital at 9 am

Surgery is in two days and I'm getting ready and prepared. What are some good post op (will be on full liquids for a month) that you all liked or found good? So far I've stocked up on broth, sf puddings & Jello, cottage cheese, ff yogurt, skim milk, Protein powders, and Soups (non-fattening). Anything else?

You guys nervous or having second thoughts? I'm scared...not so much of the surgery , but of possible complications. I know I need this surgery and it will be a good thing. Just hearing some people with post op issues has me a little rattled. I'm trying to ignore it.

Maybe I shouldn't be reading so many posts
Jenuine629 replied to mentalistfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh - yes!!!! I have been freaking out hearing about complications. What scares me the most is that this is permanent. Can't undo it. So I'm having such a hard time wrapping my head around this. I want to be better, healthier, happier, and weigh so much less. But I won't lie, those complications, constant nausea, vomiting, not being able to eat or drink, leaks and everything else have had me so worried. How do you get through that? -
