I'm a month out and Wegman's is also one of my problem areas. I shop there on a regular basis so the temptation is real. I've decided not to even go on that side of the store because there is nothing I need. (food bar and bakery). Last week I started cutting threw the produce section to get to the meat department which keeps the temptations out of sight out of mind. I've made simpler changes to avoid fast food temptations and restaurants.
Now, I have a list of my favorite places that I want to hit one last time. Most are checked off the list already. I'm having Outback with my son tomorrow when I take him back to college. I think there is only 1 other sub shop left that I probably won't end up at because it's an hour away and luckily I have no reason to be in that area.

Tell us more of your pre-surgery diet? While I think surgery is still an option for you, your road is going to be harder. I don't believe that life is about never having anything again...but you will have consequences. The surgery will allow the choices to be easier to make but someone bent on going around it.....well then your surgery could be a waste of time. Mentally you will also face some hard times. Good luck to you.

    Tanya,
If you aren't prepared for the lifestyle change that is required to be sucessful after surgery, then perhaps you aren't ready for the surgery.

I started with my first appointment with the surgeon in May 2013 and had my surgery September 2013.
I was lucky that it was that short of a time.
I believe on average for most it's at least 6 months.
I depends on the insurance you have, what your surgeon requires you to do before they do surgery.
Good luck with your journey into WLS.

First appointment to surgery date is 9 weeks but only because I had already met the 6 month diet required in Maryland. Insurance requirements are usually what dictates the time.

Hi, and welcome to BP. As far as how long it takes, if really does vary depending on your insurance, their requirements, your doctors requirements, etc. We look forwarding to following you on your journey.

Welcome. My first seminar was late December, met with my surgeon on the 21 of January, had RNY surgery on the 18th of March. Pretty quick for me, I have BCBS-IL, they don't have the 6 month dietary requirement any more so it was shorter then some. Best of luck on your journey.

It seems like so much we have to go through to get approved, but in the long run, it is definitely worth it.
