  1. I like my breasts but I think I'm also realistic about the changes that are happening and going to happen over the course of the next year or so. I guess I look at them and think, they certainly aren't that bad and they could always be worse! LOL...Good luck to you! I hope whatever you do and go through, you find peace with them :)

  2. So I am 3 weeks post op and I have tried several different Protein powders and drinks already. I have a generic vanilla kind that I get from our local grocery store which is somewhat good. I use PB2 to mask the taste of the protein taste and that works well. I've tried Core Power Strawberries and Cream...uck! It tastes like medicine to me. I've tried a chocolate from MTS Nutrition, it was good but I don't want to spend that kind of money on it - a friend gave me some scoops to try it. I've tried Cookies and cream from Muscle Milk and it's ok but I couldn't see myself drinking it daily. The other day I bought Core Power Chocolate and fell in LOVE with it! It was like thick and rich chocolate milk. Absolutely delicious. Problem is it has 26 grams of sugar! My stomach hurt after I drank it. So I can't use it anymore :(

So....what are some of your favorites that taste good and you can take daily with no problems?

  3. Today is my 2 week post op! Since surgery I have lost 21 pounds! I have been weighing myself daily which was great until yesterday when I stepped on the scale and it said I had gained 3 pounds. Today I stepped on it again and it said I lost 1 of the 3 I gained. This was frustrating to me. I am not over eating and in fact I'm not getting more than 500-600 calories in a day. I feel a little bloated too. I just had my menstrual cycle so it isn't premenstrual swelling. I have my first 2 week post op apt in an hour so I will see what the doctor says. I'm hoping she allows me to move onto pureed food. We spend years putting on the weight and expect it to come off in days. I need to relax! Slow and steady.

I'm so glad I have Bariatric pal to turn to when I have questions and there are tons of people who have had or are having the same questions. This site is so helpful! Love it!

  4. I bought a Magic Bullet yesterday and used it for the first time this morning for my Protein drink! I did the normal scoop of protein poweder, 1 cup skim milk and then added in a banana. Oh my goodness! There are no chunks at all so I can drink it and it tastes delicious! So much better than just the protein and milk by itself! I would recommend purchasing one if you haven't already! I live in Iowa and purchased it at costco for $35.00! I couldn't resist!

    Secondly...

I find that in the evenings I am not hungry as much as I mentally crave food. All kinds of food. Good food, bad food, it doesn't matter. I think I'm going through with-drawls. I can't eat whatever I want, when I want and at the amount I want. Part of me realizes and is quite glad I can't because those actions are what got me in to this mess in the first place so many years ago, and the other part of me thinks about how long my stomach has been there for me. Always able to swallow my feelings. Never turned away from me or told me no or judged me when I couldn't control the things going on around me. It is definitely a wake up call for my stomach and brain with the hopes to finally unite in the right direction!

  6. Is anyone else terrified even paranoid of getting a blood clot? My legs have been sore to the touch within the last few days. I saw my family doctor yesterday who after asking some questions and checking them out, feels that my soreness is not due to my surgery or to having a blood clot. I have to say I am still terrified. Every little pain or different sensation I feel I think, "Is that what a blood clot feels like?" I know I'm freaking myself out here but I cant help it.

I exercise and get up and walk or stand in the kitchen all the time. I am aware of the importance of exercising and do so but it doesn't stop my fear.

  7. Hi, I had the sleeve procedure done 1 week ago today.

    March 8, my highest weight : 375

April 9, 2014 started pre op 1200 calorie diet

April 21, 2014 started liquid diet

    April 23, 2014 had surgery.

Since surgery, a week ago, I have lost 20 pounds. Overall since March 8th, I have lost 35 pounds.

    Questions:

    1. Is it normal to lose weight so rapidly like this? I'm on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks and then go to puree diet for 2 weeks. Then I can go to soft/solid foods.

    2. I can drink a pretty normal amount. Will the major restrictions come once I am able to have actual food in my stomach instead of Water? Sometimes I feel like my stomach should of been cut down more than it is. I hear and see things about people not being able to drink and they have pains and complications, I'm over here like, I don't have a problem swallowing and it doesn't hurt when I drink my Protein Drink which is 8 oz. I do drink it over a 15-20 minute time span so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

    3. Cravings for real solid foods are strong at times but I power through in fear of causing myself pain or not following my doctors orders.

    4. Has anyone entered the pureed portion of the diet and still continue to drop weight rapidly?

Thank you for checking out my post and any input you may have to offer!

    Brooke
