  1. My little scar where he took my stomach out is barely noticeable. It was much smaller than I thought it would be. I showed a friend and she couldn't belief that was where my stomach came out! I had a mole between my boobs removed recently and it looks about the same as that. The other incisions look like day old scratches. Pretty bright but not like wounds at all. I will be two months next week and I am shooting for 30 lost post op. But more that the amount of weight lost which will be what it is, is the rapid healing. I have had almost zero complications. I overate once, ate mustard too early, and threw up immediately after surgery. That is about it! I am very confident that I have an excellent sleeve.

  2. I went alone a couple of weeks ago. It was just fine. What I would suggest is looking at both the surgeon and coordinator for while you are down there. Also see if the Dr. you choose has an online support group, I found it very helpful and "knew" some of the folks I'd be down there with prior to getting there.

I'll just put a little plug in for Dr. Illan. His staff and coordinator are great. I was never alone (ecept in the hotel, but my sleeve sister was in the room net door). There is also a thriving online support group on Facebook.< /p>

  3. She has a right not to think WLS is a great idea. My friends do all sorts of things I never would and don't think are great ideas but it doesn't get in the way of me loving them.

She mentions being "triggered" several times. Her opposition to your decision doesn't seem to have anything to do with you, it has to do with her own feelings about herself.

This isn't an easy process and you need to seek support where you find it. It's hard to lose a friend but she she has too many issues to be supportive to you.

And ditto what Keish Lorraine said. Lol.

  4. I just returned from Tijuana and did not feel unsafe at any time. The cartel wars there have ended and that was the cause of the violence. I would not, however, drive around by myself. My surgeon, Dr. Illan, has a coordinator/all around helper, Omar, who takes care of you and your Companion for the duration. I would first pick my surgeon and then see what services they have as far as who takes care of you when you are down there.

  5. I did not tip the nurses and didn't even consider it.

    this is what I did:

    Driver from airport 10

bell hop 2 dollars each time (one bag)

Room service, I would look at the reciept to see if it is already on there otherwise, yes I would tip.

    Housekeepers - a couple bucks a night

Coordinator/attendant (took me shopping, got all my fluids, found me cheap meds, etc and also brought to to and from hospital) 100

  6. That is awful. Is this a small practice or a large one? Some places have a patient advocate that can help you.

I'm curious as to what he thinks "the point" is where he thinks this is reasonable. Your weight is at a level where it can seriously impact the rest of your health.

Do you live near a major city? Maybe it would be easier to find a PCP there.

There are PCPs that are supportive. Mine was enthusiastic about me getting surgery and very supportive about going to Mexico.
