Yes soccermom! So does mine. My doc gives nicotine tests to anyone who is a current or former smokers. I was one of those smokers but I quit smoking because I wanted to be completely healthy and to have my surgery. My doc flat out refuses to operate on smokers and will nicotine test the morning of surgery. His nurse told me he canceled surgeries when patients tested positive on the morning of and he makes them wait 3 months to reschedule. Cigarettes dont mean that much to me anymore and I smoked for 25 yrs. quit for you when your ready but quit before making this change.

Good luck to you Laydee! I'm right behind you on the 16th!!!! I'm super excited. Yesterday when I started my pre-op diet it started sinking in for me too. Its starting to feel surreal for me. While we were driving yesterday, I kept seeing fast food restaurants and I never really paid attention at how many but I was looking at them and saying this is really it, it's really gonna happen!!!! Since we are so close we should keep in touch! -

Oh ok cool. I started my pre-op diet today and today wasn't too bad. Hubby and kids had pizza for dinner and I did laundry while they ate, so I did good through that and I really wasn't too hungry today. I feel like I really just have to take one day at a time and not think about the whole 14 days. Thanks for the congrats and congrats to you too! My diet is pretty strict with only 5 protein shakes a day, sf jello, water, zero calorie flavored water, broth, and two sf Popsicle per day. I just had the shakes, jello and water today. What's your diet like? -

Wow congrats Trixa! When are you starting your pre-op diet? I'm trying to not focus on what happens after the pre-op diet until the night before my surgery because I will be a wreck thinking about so many thing while not eating. I am not going to allow myself to cheat because I want to do my part to lessen the risk of complications. I have quit smoking after 25yr so the least I can do is get through these last 2 weeks! Lol Hv you gotten anything for post surgery yet? -

I know the feeling relentless! That is why I'm having my surgery privately! Only my husband, sister and best friend know I'm having the surgery. I have found out though other family members how unsupportive my family is about weight loss surgery. So I just keep my mouth shut because we need positivity though this journey!!! If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here! -

I haven't had surgery yet but I start my pre-op diet tomorrow! My surgery is May 16th. How are you feeling gixxergurl? I hope all is well! -
We'll thank you so much for your openness and honesty about your situation. I hope everything works out for you. You shouldn't be made to suffer that's just not right. Yes the program at NMCP is wonderful from the seminar up until now (my pre-op diet) I can really say I'm in good hands and it has been very insightful. The support groups and topics are wonderful and ran by the hospital's own Bariatric Clinic so these are the people I see at my appointments with the exception of the speaker sometimes. I am a former smoker and Dr. Barker is very strict about smoking he doesn't play! I get nicotine tested at every visit and I have been surprised also with a call to come in for a nicotine test, which of course I passed it or I would have had to wait 3 months to move forward and you only get one chance to do that! But I didn't even need that one chance because I need this surgery more than I want those Cancer sticks! So when I quit, that was that. I actually like knowing that I'm going to be nicotine tested because that keeps me accountable! In fact I know for sure I will have one next week at my pre-op appt and another one the morning of my surgery. He has cancelled surgeries before on the morning of because of nicotine in ones system his Bariatric Nurse told me. Today is my last day eating the way that has gotten me to this point as I start my 2 wk liquid diet tomorrow. I'm happy but nervous about pure liquids for 2 wks but I have found that this forum has been very helpful so I'm going to us it for suppose while I conquer my last hurdle. Lol wow my surgery is 2wks from tomorrow! I can't believe it.

My surgery is bring done at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth with Dr. Barker. I have done lots of research and I am happy with choice. I have a couple of friends that he did their surgeries and they look great and feel great. So I thank God that I'm in good hands. That is terrible that your doctor dropped you. Are you seeing a new surgeon to help with you malnutrition it does you PCM handle that for you?

Hello everyone, have any of you ordered medical alert bracelets yet? If so where did you order from and if not are you planning on ordering one? Just a question because it was recommended by my surgeon to have one. -
Oh wow I'm sorry I thought you were doing better from your complications. What do you do now? I'll pray for you. How do you feel? I brought the adult liquid Tylenol. Thank you because I read someone else saying they dumped on it too. I'll have to rethink that one. Thanks for the kitchen ideas too.
-
Thanks. Well im glad that your complications have resolved. I do have a question....what kinds of things did you eat for your first 2 wks post op. I'm trying to get my kitchen prepared so hubby doesn't have to do much and was lolling for ideas!

Thank you! I'm super excited to! Are you post op?
