  1. I start my two week pre-op diet tomorrow and am feeling the same way. Can I do this? Should I do this? Now that I have a date I have told more people. I am blessed that everyone has been so supportive and encouraging. I only had one friend who tried to convince me to do Weight Watchers instead. I am prepared for the emotional roller coaster this will bring but I know in the end it will be worth it. Good luck to everyone on their journey!
  2. I bought the Bariatric Advantage ones against my better judgment. I don't really like them. I have tried over a dozen different shakes over the past few weeks so I think I'm going to stick with some of those. I did get a list of suggestions and since I've been testing them out I know what fills me up. It should make my grocery shopping easy this weekend!

    May 2014 Sleevers

@@seanindallas I share the excitement and the nervousness. I met with a pulmonologist also. Did the lung function test and she referred me for a sleep study. I have a lovely new CPAP now. She would not clear me to get a date until I wore it for 7-10 days.
  4. I am planning to go to Alexian in Elk Grove. It is closer to my house so easier for family to pick me up. I start the pre-op diet this Monday.

I got the call today. May 12th is my date!!
  6. She called this afternoon. My date is May 12th! I'm so excited!
  7. That's exactly what I did this afternoon. She said she should be calling me tomorrow with a date!
  8. @@SugarFreeMe how long did it take for them to schedule your surgery after everything was approved? I was cleared by the pulmonologist last Tuesday and I'm still waiting for them to call. It is quite frustrating since I ended up needing a CPAP before I could get clearance.

    2014 Chicago Sleevers

I've been wearing my CPAP since last Monday and the ppulmonologist finally cleared me for surgery. Now I'm waiting for them to call and schedule my surgery. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long!

It maintains continuous air flow to help keep the airway open while you're sleeping. You pretty much wear a mask that is connected to the machine by a hose. It takes some adjusting but everyone I know says they sleep much better.

I'm trying to adjust to my new CPAP. I was sent for a sleep study and that was the outcome. Once I get clearance they will let me schedule my surgery date. Impatiently waiting.

I'm having my surgery done with Dr. Rantis. I don't have a date yet but it's nice to know he has availability a month out. I'm hoping to get scheduled for end of April beginning of May at the latest.

    Appointments are starting!

I have no idea. It all depends on what happens with the sleep study. That is the only thing holding me up. I would love to be able to have surgery in April or the beginning of May. I don't know how far out they are scheduling though. Plus with the 2 week pre-op diet I'm thinking May is more realistic. I would love to get together. I live in Palatine!

Hi All…Northwest Burbs here. I don't have a date yet but I am hoping for late April or early May. The only thing I need is authorization from the pulmonologist. She is sending me for a sleep study so I have to wait for results before I can get scheduled. I decided to have mine at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove.

    Appointments are starting!

Yes. I went to the January 29th seminar. Met with Dr. Rantis on Feb. 11th. I have BC/BS of IL and only needed the psych eval and dietician appointment to get approved. I wasn't able to get in to see the pulmonologist until March 17th. If you haven't made that appointment, do it now! They book up quick and despite me having no other health issues they are still making me go for a sleep study. I have that this Thursday 3/27. All I am waiting on is clearance from the pulmonolgist's office. She said it will take up to a week for them to get my sleep study results and another 7-10 days if I need to be on a CPAP. If you have any questions, let me know. I'd be happy to answer them. It has been overwhelming to say the least. I wish I someone was there to tell me what would happen at each appointment along the way.
