Hi! I had the gastric sleeve performed in December and did in fact have complications with my surgery. There was leak from a staple that perforated the back of my stomach so they didn't catch it upon the first x-Ray the morning after surgery. However, after my temperature and white blood cell count continued to spike, they caught the leak upon a second x-Ray four days later before discharging me and took me back for emergency surgery to fix it. Luckily, I had no abscesses or other severe complications. I seriously regretted this surgery for the entire first month after because I had a feeding tube to help the healing process of having two surgeries in such a short time and it was awful. HOWEVER, I am 8 months post-op and feel AMAZING. I no longer have high blood pressure or sleep apnea and am so much more confident in everything. I'm happier as well. Although
I was one of the very few percentage that experiences significant complications, I am so grateful I had this surgery. It's always good to be aware of the risks because they can happen but if the pros outweigh those cons, then that's something to seriously consider. I hope I could help! It's definitely a decision you have to make on your own so just consider both the pros and cons! Feel free to ask me anything!
