I just started my mushy food for two weeks post op after being on liquids for 5 weeks now and was so excited to mix my Protein Powder with kale and berries in my nutribullet...and it WAS DELISH! But I woke up in the middle of the night with horrific gas :/ could it just be my body not being used to the fruits and veggies anymore?!? I was so sad...I was so excited to 1) want to choose something as healthy as that to eat and 2) I really hope regular gas from consuming healthy whole foods isn't going to be a problem... I too have a juicer but my doc is really against all kinds of juices even the vegetable ones! and said smoothies are better to keep the Fiber in the food rather than extracting it out. Any ideas anyone? I really don't want to give up healthful food.

My doc says no hamburger ever again. We had a big discussion about it prior to banding. He said it causes problems for many people and it's best to sub turkey or chicken that's ground...just thought I'd share He has lots of rules but I'm guessing it's because of what he's seen in office. Just thought I'd share

I'm in pasco just hit 4 yr anniversAry[/quoteCool! How has your journey been? I'm starting to get nervous reading about all these people with so many complications :/ Was Dr Fox your doc?

I tired very easily for about a week. Don't get discouraged, your weightloss will come. You are still in the healing phase. What types of food have you been eating?
Delove32 I've been doing 3 200 cal Protein Shakes a day and Clear Liquids. I'm supposed to do this til week 4 post op which is next week....honestly in the middle if the day if I get hungry I've had a 1/2 cup of vegetarian refried Beans though (my job is active and I walk about 7 miles a day so I feel like this isn't all that unreasonable)...thoughts?

whats a super supplement store?
It's a store that sells all sorts of Vitamins and healthy lifestyle stuff. All over in the PNW..not sure where else but if you're interested in Vega I'm sure it's also available online
-
Not sure if you have looked into Vega Protein but it is stocked at super supplement stores. I'm planning to check it out after I get through the stuff I already purchased. I am also a big fan of organic, local, pronouncable and few ingredient foods! I don't know the stats though and my doc was very specific as to what the grams of protein and sugar calories had to be in my Protein Shakes.< /p>

How's everyone doing??? I am 3 weeks out from being banded, feeling pretty good but a little frustrated about no weight loss :/ following the docs orders but I feel like my body must hate me! Definitely went back to work a little too early...I guess live and learn! I am also having some issues with tiring a lot more easily but I don't want to take the drugs the doc offers...anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone around 2 weeks out from op and having pain at the port site still? Just checking to see if it's normal....
-
Anyone from TC still out there? I just got banded on the 28th of March...would love to meet some others locally going through the same thing!

Oh and my job is active, I probably wouldn't be as nervous if I got to sit, but I'm a store manager for a busy coffee shop so on my feet and moving is the way I'll be crossing my fingers I'll be ????

I'd love to hook up with a band buddy- I'm 4 days post op was banded on the 28th of March. Things seem to be going ok, I'm a little nervous to go back to work tomorrow :/ ive been walking in my house, but I definitely still have quite a bit of pain at the port site ...any tips?

Anyone on lose it?

I got the fitbit flex and I love it- long battery life (about 5-6 days nonstop) plus tracks sleep. It's good for walking/running/aerobic class type activities but not as well with biking...
Brooke what fitbit is the best one to get? I've been wanting one.Anyone using fitbit and lose it? I'd love some pals on there

I'm 36 and was banded on March 28th! Let's go team! I've been feeling good and sticking to Clear Liquids plus three Protein Shakes a day. Let me tell you, Soup broth is my new BFF. French onion soup made up and then strained is just so tasty compared to all the artificially sweetened stuff clear liquids are made up of. If you get bored strain soup it's been a life saver.

This may be slightly personal but for all of you who have had your band placed in the last week, when did you finally have a bowel movement? I've been taking Metamucil with my Protein Shakes but everything is still liquid...wasn't sure when this part will happen? Help!
-
Oh and I also have just been sipping, but have what I think is a little restriction....

I had a 3cc fill at the time of surgery so is that why I'm not hungry at all? I'm only day two post op...but I have a 4 week clear liquid and Protein Shake diet to follow 90g protein/ day plus Multivitamins etc.

Banded this morning and home now resting comfortably...got 3ccs in the band and a medium sized hiatal hernia repaired as well! Resting comfortably and taking the liquids slow as well I have to agree with some others, the gas pain and sore throat is more annoying to me than any of the stomach incisions!

For all that are awaiting their band, no worries!!! I was a piece of cake!!! I feared the worse!! Not bad at all... My main complaint is tht my throat feels groogy and terrible dry!
Thanks!! I'm up tomorrow! Would you keep me posted on your hunger level as you heal? I'm super worried I won't be less hungry! I know I'm in my head, but still some reassurance would be amazing here you go!!! Congrats!!!

Thank you everyone for the great ideas on feeling full! I'm on a one week liquid only plus 90 grams of Protein Shake diet for preop. Sounds like there's quite a bit of variety when it comes to the preop diet, but I've been told no milk or milk products, no sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol (which would probably just make me looped off a sip at this point!) sooooo yeah #hungry. I'm glad I really only have to do tomorrow without the band because FRIDAY is the big day!! But I'll also be on this same diet for 4 weeks postop! Hoping just having the band with a little fill will stop me from being so darn hungry :/

New me1475 I'm doing well! Thank you for asking! I was telling a coworker that this week (week 5 post op & first week of mushies) is the first week I feel truly 100% as in jeans don't bother the incisions at all anymore and I have more energy and actually feel like doing more exercise after work I haven't had my first fill yet but tiny portions of yogurt and especially refried Beans seem to fill me right up! I'm down 23 pounds from prior to preop diet, looks like it's been a pretty steady 2 lbs a week drop and nothing in my band for a fill, so I'll take it ???? my first fill is on May 8th & I'm looking forward to seeing what that's all about! How's your journey going?
