    Conflicted about having surgery :(

@@kitcatsheart - I had sleeve surgery in Mexico in April 2014 with Dr.Garcia and will be having a mini GBP with Dr.Illan as soon as my financing comes through. (Due to regain and GERD.) I was on a call speaking with Dr. Illan's coordinator Henry about trying to schedule a date, and all of a sudden he says, "Dr. Illan just walked in; would you like to speak with him"? I ended up having a great conversation with Dr.Illan!! He answered my questions and made me feel better about my decision. I suggest you check him out. This is my second rodeo so feel free to contact me.
  2. Thank you all for your replies!!! I feel better.
  3. @@j1104c - Did you find what you were looking for? I had the single incision back in 2014. I LOVED IT!! No scars except for a tiny scar where my drain was. My story is in my signature.

    April sleevers in mexico

Kisha, what an awesome post! I couldn't have said it better myself! My surgiversary is on April 8 and it has been an amazing journey! Along with the physical changes, there were/are so many emotional changes, good and bad, and I am still trying to get used to my new body. It wasnt until just recently did I not mentally feel big and overweight and some days I still relapse. But overall, my surgery is one of, if not, the BEST DECISION I have ever made!! Good luck to all!!
  5. Same risk, same outcome. stretching your pouch.

    Count me in!!
  7. What SandeeD said. Also, you can risk stretching your pouch by drinking and eating at the same time. That was enough to stop me in my tracks! Good luck!!

Hi! The link to my experience with Dr.Garcia can be found below in my signature.
  10. HI!! The link to my surgery experience with Dr.Garcia is in my signature. I am almost 4 months post op and all is good. I did experience multiple stalls but that is because my diet and nutrition was all over the place.

    ANY SINGLE INCISION SLEEVER'S?

My single incision is hidden in my belly button. My drain scar is still visible though. Im happy with my results.

    Acne after surgery?

Total opposite for me. I never, ever had any acne as a youth or adult...EVER!!! I was sleeved on April 8. I woke up the morning of May 25 with about 6 little whitehead pimples on my forehead. Now everyday since then I wake up with 2-3 fresh pimples EVERY MORNING! Now I have pimples and acne scars all over my face. I'm pretty certain, it is surgery related which is weird because I don't eat the same garbage I used to.

5 week early stall BROKEN :)

I am sooo glad you posted this! I had my surgery a day after you, on April 8 and I have been stalled for weeks. I have only lost 28 pounds in almost 2 months and most of that was the first 2 weeks. Its quite discouraging. I hope things get moving again.

    incision pain 7 weeks out

My incision took about that long to heal. It even leaked fluid for about the last 2.5 weeks. I had no infection. I think it was a stitch. Dr said to just continue to put peroxide on it so thats what I did. It was a pain in the butt but Ive seen worse!!

    I officially HATE protein shakes!

For those who bought the book, The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes, what are your thoughts on it? I am thinking about buying it.
  16. So I am 33 pounds down from 6 weeks ago and maybe two people have mentioned that I have "lost a little weight". One person was like, what did you lose 5, 10lbs? When I told him 30lbs he said "ohhh" with a puzzled look. No I'm not looking for validation, just a few compliments. (I have always loved when someone says "you're losing weight!") Anybody else deal with this?
  17. You guys rock!! Thanks for the input!
  18. I believe that's the reaction I will get also. 2 years ago when I got married, I was 185. I have not seen alot of those people since the wedding and I still have a good 27lbs to lose to get back to my wedding weight.
  19. You guys rock!! My co-worker mentioned 2 weeks PO that my face was getting thinner. I think maybe 15 of the 30lbs came from there!! Im probably down from a quadruple chin to a triple chin now!

    Something hard coming out :-/

I have a hard little knot under my incision about the size of a small pea. It doesnt hurt or anything but i can feel when i touch it. Hopefully it will just go away.

And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.”

    African American Sleevers

No not upset. I have sense of coming across that way via email, text, post, etc. It takes more than that to upset me. Just making a point as we all are here on the board. Did you just call me closed minded...? (J/K) Ive been called worst than that...like FAT!!
  25. Here are mine: 1. Eating ice - I have been eating ice since I was 14. All day, everyday. Everyone who knows me, knows I eat ice. I would eat it at hoe, driving, at work, in meetings, wherever. After surgery, I cant even eat a few pieces. Its not the same at all. The need is gone, the feeling is gone, everything. I cant even try to eat it. 2. Waking up at night - I have woke up at 3am every night for the last 18 years (started when I was pregnant with my son). A few weeks after surgery, I was waking up and staying awake but now I sleep through the night. Its a miracle!! Anyone else experience any changes?
