    Revision... Aetna

Hi@Ndonato! Are they making you meet the requirements as if this is your first surgery? Because the Insurance coordinator at my surgeons office tried to tell me I had to start all over and she was very wrong!!! Aetna revision surgery requirements are different then the requirements to get the first bariatric surgery. If have GERD and a "deformed fundus" and a hernia. But in order to get a revision with Aetna, your first surgery had to have be "medically necessary". I got my sleeve done in Mexico in 2014 because back then, I went through the requirements process and was denied by Cigna Medical. So now my fight with my current surgeons office is "medically necessary" to WHO?!...the insurance company or the doctor?!?

    Revision... Aetna

I am currently waiting to hear from Aetna for a sleeve to rny. My doctor's office just submitted today or atleast she said she was. Apparently the insurance coordinator moves at her own pace.

    Why did you choose bypass?

You are my sleeve twin! I had the same experience; lost about 90lbs, gained it all back plus GERD. Just met with a surgeon for a revision. I had an upper GI done a few weeks ago so my surgeon wants to see the film before confirming which surgery to do. I have Aetna POS and I am praying they approve the revision.

    Not feeling much restriction

A couple thoughts about your post..... 1) if you have fundus deformity then your surgeon did not do your surgery correctly. A properly performed VSG Removes all of the fundus, which, as explained above us the stretchy part of your stomach. 2) sounds lime you were grossly misinformed about WLs and what is actually required for long term success. Any surgery (including bypass) is only one small part of what is required for long term weight loss. It was drilled into me over and over that it's the lifestyle changes we make that play a much more vital role. You can out eat any physical changes created by any surgery. Success is much more psychological than surgical. I'm truly sorry you weren't told the truth when making your decision to have surgery. 3). If you are having severe GERD, then yes, bypass is probably the answer for you. But again, your long term results as far as weightloss goes will be the same as your VSG without the often overlooked psychological tools. I suggest finding a good therapist if you find yourself going back to your old eating habits.....or developing new, just as destructive habits customized to eat around your bypass restriction. I saw this all the time in group. 1)The fundus deformity is a result of stretching my sleeve. I am over two years post op; my surgery was done correctly. All of my previous follow-ups indicated so. 2)I am not misinformed about WLS. 3)I do not need a therapist. I am aware of my role in my weight gain. I hear people say all the time the sleeve does not stretch, when in fact it does.

    Not feeling much restriction

Yes you can definitely stretch your sleeve!! I just got the results of my Upper GI results 15 minutes ago and it reads: 1. LARGE AMOUNT OF GE REFLUX. 2. DEFORMITY OF THE GASTRIC FUNDUS. CORRELATION WITH THE PATIENT'S GASTRIC SURGERY. My doctor said my sleeve has stretched. It did not stretch back to regular size and shape...but it has stretched. I eat the same amount now as i did prior to my surgery 2 years ago. My metabolism is jacked up and I am 18 pounds away from my surgery weight from before. I fell into old habits listening to people tell me that my sleeve would not stretch and that it was the end all to my weight problems and now im right back where i started, except worse. Now, im in the process of trying to qualify for a sleeve to bypass revision to help with the persistent GERD and daily nausea. ???? Can Sleeve Stretch

Yes!! It can. If you go back to your old eating habits and food intake amounts, it will stretch!! Trust me, I KNOW!!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  10. Haven't posted in awhile but I am considering getting a sleeve to mini GBP with Dr. Illan. I received an email from Bariatric Pal and the hotel they use is Pueblo Amigo Hotel and Casino. I stayed at the Marriott when I got my sleeve 2 years ago. If anyone can tell us about their experience, I would greatly appreciate.

    Family and friend rejection

I have but I have not "acted" on it, if you know what I am saying. Within the last two years, I had ALOT of emotional, unfortunate events happen and I am an emotional eater and also BIG time binge eater. I haven't pulled the trigger on the revision just yet. I got a script from my PCP for the GERD so we will see what happens. I am at a crossroads right now. I just may try the pouch reset, etc. I dont know....

    Family and friend rejection

@Tufflaw No problem! I gained all of my weight back and I have GERD. No excuse here; I went back to my old habits and my sleeve is stretched. (For some reason, I can not update my signature....)
  15. @Torriluv87 That was my issue! If I waited until the weight loss stopped, I would not have enough fat to transfer. Needless to say, it was a waste. BUT....(pun intended)I did get a 26" waistline out of the surgery since he took the fat from my midsection. ====== Let me correct myself, I did lose most of the fat from the initial fat transfer but when I started working out seriously, I started to shape up nicely!! Ill post a pic...

    Family and friend rejection

This is why I told no one prior to my sleeve surgery. Best thing i couldve done. After the surgery, I did tell some close friends when i went on a girls trip and boy did the judgements flow!! Now that I'm considering sleeve to bypass revision, i told my mom i was "considering" it and she called me a few days later and told me i was gonna die on the table, yada, yada, etc. Told my boyfriend i was "considering" the revision surgery, he flipped and went on a "join the gym" rant. So back to dont ask, dont tell for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Single Incision Gastric Sleeve

@907city2farmgrl I had the single incision sleeve with Dr. Garcia in 2014. I have 1/4 inch scar on my left side from the one drain that is unnoticeable. But I have also gained my weight back...nothing to do with the single incision process though. My story is in my signature.
