    My revelation

    I had made. Sorry

    My revelation

I hat mDe a list of things I really like that are high in protein and low in carbs. Some I can't eat yet until I start real foods. But my list is SHORT. A lot of fish and veggies. Occasional chicken. Rarely, fruit because it has to be exactly ripe and perfect! Of course I love grains and breads but they're not on my list. No sweets. So yes, it's a little limiting but at least I'll enjoy my meals.

    My revelation

I am a huge fan of beans but eat them a lot less than I would like due to the carbs.
  4. I think we have a lot in common. I am five weeks post op. I would love to have a firm idea of a calorie range. My doc won't commit! Just make sur you're getting your protein and water, he says. Well, I am. But I can't help paying attention to all the data on mfp. I wish I had words of wisdom to offer, but we are I. The same boat.

    From Fatass to Badass!

I'm happy for you, and admire your determination.

    Keeping finger crossed!

Good luck. The more you read and become informed the better you will do afterward, I believe.
  7. I have this on occasion since surgery, but never to the point of passing out. It IS unpleasant.
  8. I Was told not to drink until a half hour after eating. But after a half hour there is no way my stomach would be ready for liquids. I assume it's just taking a long time to empty now that I'm on soft foods. Or it could be that I'm eating too fast, which is something I struggle with and I'm trying to work on. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Today I had some Breakfast and took my Water bottle with me, intending to drink on my way to work. I have a 50 minute drive and there was no way I could drink anything, in spite of the fact that I was really thirsty.

    Drinking after eating

I am five weeks post op today.
  10. My nut has said repeatedly not to worry about calories, and just to focus on protein and liquids. So I'm trying to follow that advice. However, on mfp it kind of forces you to focus on calories. So it's hard and I don't have a good answer, but I think you have to be way low.

    Hard to feed your kids?

My kids are not little but nonetheless I've always cooked for them. I started warning them months out that there would be a long period of time when I would not be cooking and they would be getting a lot of frozen pizza and hot dogs, etc. I also hired someone to come in and clean for a few weeks, which I'm really glad I was able to do. So all that was left was laundry and the dog.
  12. It will be worth the wait. I tried two different hospital programs before I settled on the third, where I had my surgery. I felt so much more comfortable with the staff. I'm really glad I trusted my instincts. The other two might have been ok, but you need to go where your gut tells you. Good luck.

    Sports bra

Can anyone recommend a decent sports bra that doesn't squish the boobs into one huge pancake? And hopefully one that doesn't cost a ton, since I'm only at the beginning of my weight loss journey? I've always worn a 40D so I'm not too hard to fit. Thanks.
  14. I had my surgery just over a month ago. I am down 24 lbs. I follow my post op instructions faithfully. I would love to be one of those people who loses quickly, but I'm not. However, I feel so fortunate just to be able to have this surgery, to have little out of pocket costs, and to have had a smooth recovery. At no other place or time in history would such a thing even be possible. I am one lucky person indeed.
  15. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Any licensed behavioral health professional is deemed qualified, as long as they have a contract with your particular insurance company. And believe me,they won't see you if they aren't already approved to accept your insurance (unless you are paying out of pocket, in which case it won't matter anyway.) social workers, psychologists and counselors are equivalent.
  16. I only wish I had done this a long time ago instead of doing the dieting thing over and over and over and over and over.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by supplements.

    1st Month

I'm joining the club. Minimal weight lost after surgery. Logic tells me I will lose eventually, considering how little I'm eating, how much water I'm drinking, and how much time spent walking. But it's hard when I read about the major losses of others. I seriously considered staying off these forums because I sometimes find it more discouraging than helpful.
  19. Because of my job I got a subpoena and have to be in court all day. I am just over four weeks out. I'm on soft foods. I actually got the subpoena a few months back and totally forgot about it. Now I'm trying to figure out what in the world I can bring into the courthouse to eat. Suggestions would be helpful. I don't eat protein bars yet.

    Joint replacement surgery

My left knee is keeping me from being able to do much in the way of exercise, and the bariatric surgeon cautioned me that even weight loss is not going to improve the level of pain. So I know this is in the cards for me at some point, and I'm worried about the recuperation. I'm especially concerned about how long I might be out of work.

    Jersey people

I am not in Jersey, but from the Easton PA area--just over the Delaware. Did you check the "local" groups? I suggest using the search feature. I'm sure you will find something.
  22. What I am eating is not that different from the pureed foods, except that I'm not pureeing them. Today I brought to work: Greek yogurt, cooked fish, and I have "back up" foods like canned white meat chicken and some lentil Soup, plus I keep one serving of Protein powder around. Tonight at home I have Chicken Cacciatore in the crock pot, and you know how the crock pot overcooks things--so it will be nice and soft when I get to it.
  23. In general I didn't find the recuperation to be difficult at all. But I think if I had to spend hours in the car I would have had much more discomfort and fatigue. Good advice to stay there longer.

    Six Months Today

Great going! My starting weight was similar. I am 4 weeks out. I hope to make the kind of progress that you have!
