  1. I had my surgery May 30th and am off in a few minutes to my "Intro to Solids" class FINALLY! I admit I have been sampling for conservatively. I have had no issues at all with food. I am noticing some dizziness when I get up and will talk to the doctor about it at my next appointment. I do encourage people to do the "ticker" - it is fun for me to see the pounds come off and the BMI drop! I admit that I update it whenever I lose a pound as a reward :) just for fun. Keep posting everybody!

  2. I couldn't do the puree thing either. I did some plain greek yogurt with stirred in canned (no sugar added) fruit for Breakfast. My top and favorite meal was canned chicken with broth and steamed carrots and green Beans. It is kind of a Soup. The canned chicken was easier on me then rotisserie chicken and less waste. One can of chicken made 3-4 meals so I made some @ twice a week. There are lots of variations you could do. I always have unsweetened applesauce and of course SF popsicles. Good luck to you!

  3. I had decided on bypass before I met with my surgeon. He recommended the sleeve because I was relatively healthy and would then not need to have as many supplements post-surgery. He said the weight loss difference would not be worth the extra supplements I would need to take. I agreed to have the sleeve surgery. I am extremely happy with my outcome and do not foresee that changing! Good luck to you which ever choice you make!

  4. My motto is: protect and respect the pouch. My doctor has set out a very specific diet and I have followed it to the letter. I figured if I was going to do something this extreme why would I not follow his advice. Also stay hydrated! One of the biggest reasons for re-admission is dehydration so keep drinking and take Water with you if you go out (I learned the hard way...)

The first week is the hardest but just be easy on yourself - your body will let you know when you are ready for more activity.

So nice you and your mom did this together! I wish you both great success and look forward to hearing about your progress :)

As far as Vitamins go I take a chewable Centrum with Iron, 5000 mcg B12 sublingual and 1000-1500 mg Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium citrate. Favorite meals? I am still on "strained" food for another week but have started to transition myself to solids slowly just this weekend. For Breakfast I still have plain greek yogurt and stir in some fruit and I still have Soup for at least one meal a day. My one disappointment is that the weight is not coming off in my tummy like it seems to be else where. I know it is just a matter of time but it sure but be nice to see THAT start to disappear! Have a good Monday everyone!!

  6. I totally understand. One week into my pre-op diet (and one week before surgery) my brother got married. Of course there were lots of pictures etc. There are MANY I haven't looked at yet because I remember how bad I felt about myself! I got through it by thinking these were all going to be my before pictures and I was truely happy for my brother. But even a month + after surgery I am starting to like looking in the mirrored windows going up to the office etc. Stuff I never did before. Don't be too hard on yourself - in a year you will feel totally different about yourself and that picture!!
