    down 65 lbs

Wow! Amazing and inspirational! Thanks for sharing!
  2. Cindy that is PERFECT! I have no doubt that you will be successful! I will be roaring along with you
  3. So are chicken and beef broth. If you can see through it, it is a clear liquid!
  4. I went to my post-surgery doctor appt yesterday. He said it was just a response to the anesthesthia and will go away. It may take another week or two. I did transition to pureed (yuch) foods yesterday and having something more substantial helped with energy and thinking.
  5. I had the same thing. It was just a matter of finding the right combination of anti-nausea meds. Are you still in the hospital? I ended up being there for 3 days because I couldn't get off the iv due to the constant vomiting. BUT once they get the meds right I stopped and haven't been sick or nauseous since. And I was only on the meds for 2 days at home then I stopped because I was fine. I am 2 weeks out today and doing well! Don't regret your decision - it will all be great!

19 months out and a leak!

Thanks for the update. So sorry to hear of this development but glad you were able to get a specific diagnosis. I sincerely hope that this is the final complication for you! Feel better soon!
  8. I was wondering if anyone else is still dealing with "mental fuzziness?" I go back to work on Monday and have been noticing that I am not as sharp as pre-surgery. I don't know if it due to diet or extreme caffeine reduction or just post surgery recovery? Just curious if anyone else has noticed. Otherwise I am so happy with my progress so far!
  9. Wow! What a journey you have been on! Congratulations for really turning life around and taking charge! Major kudos to you!

    My Aching A--!

I actually have a couple of friends that hurt their tailbone when they were younger and have an on and off issue with it. You may have lost so much "padding" that it is now reacting to where and how you are sitting. I know it can be very painful! Hope you find relief somehow!

    Numbness?

I had it with my 2 C-sections and expect it with this surgery too. Over time you will get sensation back. Good luck to you!

    Alcohol

From what my Dr told me the purpose for being on liquids before surgery was to help shrink the liver which needs to be manipulated in order to do the laparoscopic surgery. If they "fold the liver " and it cracks and bleeds they need to open up the abdomen. Since drinking involves the liver the worst case scenario would be the would need to open your friend up to do the surgery. That could open them up to a longer recovery and possibility of future complications. Hope they do ok!
  16. Hi guys! I had my surgery on Friday the 30th and ended up spending 3 nights in the hospital. Pain was totally manageable - I stopped the morphne the first day. The nausea was pretty bad. They ended up trying something called phenergan which totally wiped me out so I couldn't walk or drink (because I would sleep for 6 or more hours at a time). I did get switched to something else but it took some time to figure out what would work. Monday was the first day I could keep anything down and at that point they could remove the IV. I am doing great at home and am looking forward to hearing how we are all progressing! This is an amazing group

    Tomorrow is the day!

I will be thinking of you today! Good luck!
  18. I have to check in tomorrow at 6 a.m. for my surgery. So will probably have to get up about 4. Glad I don't have to wait the whole morning to get this going but it sounds like I'll be the first one scheduled. Hope everyone has their morning caffeine before they start !
  19. When I did my required cardio visit the cardiologist I saw was very much against it. In her opinion people should go to a "fat camp" and rsolve their issues there. I just smiled and nodded but I am still proceeding with the surgery. Your endocrinologist will support you and if she doesn't you may have to find another one. It is very hard hard to hear such mixed reactions in the medical community. Good luck to you!

    Feeling Bummed Out

Hi Robin, I hope that your aproval process goes quickly - I am sure that the wait is bringing you down. Once the insurance company gets all the docs they require it should go pretty fast. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
