  1. drinks lots of Water... you want your body to be well hydrated prior to surgery because it will be somewhat difficult to get in your fluids after surgery. I drank Isopure, water with crystal light, broth and ate sugar free Jello for my two day clear liquid diet. Good luck and will be thinking of you Monday!! Jessica
  2. I was sleeved 1/5... so today is post op day 10. I have had no pain, nausea, or gas issues. I walk a lot. I am no way near getting in my Protein and Fluid requirements..... average 15-27 grams of protein a day from greek yogurt and Protein shake and about 20 oz of Water with crystal light. I have no hunger but do feel thirsty from time to time. I only have taken my pain med at bedtime on occasion because I sleep on my sides. I am so ready for anything other than yogurt and popsicles and broth. May try tomato Soup today. Hope everyone is doing well! I check in with the surgeon for the first time next Wed. Anxious to see how much I have lost! Jessica
  3. I was sleeved 1/5 as well. How is everyone doing? I have had no pain /nausea / or gas issues....just very sore. I am having a hard time getting in my fluids and Protein,.......I'm just not hungry or thirsty AT ALL. Sigh. I am still doing my best though. I had to get some milk of magnesium tonight as I have not had a BM since day of surgery.... anyone else with this problem?
  4. YAY! Tomorrow I will be one week post-op. Hope things go smoothly for you!!!
  5. I know someone that was sleeved about 17 months ago and she allows herself one soda a day..... She is still losing.
  6. Today is post op day 2 and I am doing well. No pain, nausea, or gas issues. But it is hard for me to stay awake...I am a professional napper. LOL. Also having a hard time getting in my fluids .... I have been sipping on an isopure all day.... Any advise?
  7. Sounds like you are doing great!! I have not had my surgery yet (scheduled for Monday) but I was given the same list of vitamins however, mine also included vit. D. I agree with Elode, write down a list of questions/concerns and call the office. It is their job to make sure you have all of the right information.
  8. You look incredible!! Congrats!
  9. My surgeon requires a two day clear liquid diet but I started today. Is crystal light tea considered a clear liquid? I am thinking that is not a good choice due to the caffeine in tea and the aspartame and sucralose. What about the other flavors of crystal light? I am excited and nervous!! Any tips/advise is much appreciated! Anyone else getting sleeved Monday? Jessica
  10. I am not using either of those physicians, but just wanted to say hey and good luck to you both....from another bama member!
  11. Getting an i.v. put in isn't too bad. Just let the RN know about your anxiety towards needles. A lidocaine injection is an additional needle so I would skip that. Make sure that you are well hydrated the day before you have surgery.... that will help with starting the i.v. Just my two cents...I'm an RN and have to deal with these issues often. I also talk to my patients and distract them when starting a line. Maybe yours will do the same. Good luck to you!
  12. I have BCBS as well and they waited the full 30 days to approve me. So frustrating! I will be contacting the coordinator in the morning.... hoping for surgery before the months end. My surgeon requires a two day clear liquids only diet. Good Luck!!
  13. I have completed all of my requirements to have surgery and the surgeon's office submitted my paperwork on Monday, November 10. I just found out that the surgery was approved on November 17. So why have I nor my surgeon's office received an approval letter from BCBS? I have called them numerous times and am I told that they have 30 days to mail the letter. I am frustrated and angry. Any advise? Thanks, Jessica
  14. WoW! You look great! What do you eat on a typical day?
  15. Hey neighbor! So nice to see another poster from Alabama. Good luck with your remaining tests! Your day will be here before you know it.
  16. Flutterfly, Dr. Andrew DeWitt will be my surgeon. He is located in a hospital that is a Center of Excellance (Princeton Baptist). I am a R.N. at the one of sister hospitals (Shelby Baptist) but we are not a Center of Excellance.
  17. Hey! My name is Jessica and I am just starting my weight loss journey. I have been "stalking" these boards for months and have finally gotten the courage to join in. I have read so many posts and have shared your victories and moments of defeat. .....Thank you all for being so honest. I have started my 6 month supervised diet and have gone to a seminar, that my surgeon held, this past weekend. I hope to have my surgery in Oct/Nov. I don't really remember ever not being overweight..... It was just who I was. But now, it is time for a change!! I am looking forward to sharing my journey with you all. -Jessica
