Problem with health care costs in US

Obamacare needs to go further. It needs to put some controls on charges. Hubby went to ER a couple months ago torn calf. Misdiagnosed. Xray taken. Charge for the lovely 4 hours we spent here - $1350 including X-ray. Next day MRI shows calf tear. Not a sprain I went to the ER exactly one week later for a tendon tear. Different hospital as I didn't want wrong fish. Well Misdiagnosed!! Was told plantar fasciitis. No X-rays or tests. Sent home either an rx. Hospital charge $2000 plus Total time 1 hour in/out Thank god my insurance paid $500 and $750 respectively. But still. Had it been January I'd have had to pay that thanks to a ridiculous &4500 deductible. Obamacare needs to set straightforward rate controls. Hubby had more services (the xray) but got charged less! Arg!

    Question about hospital stay?

I was outpatient. In at 10 am and out the next day. I did the overnight. Was a 23 hour stay. That's outpatient. Even overnight
  8. I lost a friend through this process she's also morbidly obese and very happy. She was at around 350 when she started doing Zumba and adopted a vegetarian lifestyle. I supported her jn this by attending her classes with her and when she started teaching it I supported her there too. She lost 80 pounds. I lost 5?? I decided to do surgery and she got different. Really bitter. And I know I am emotional during this journey but her comments have been offensive and hurt my feelings. They weren't always weight related. Comments were about everything and usually a little slide of you like to find the easy way to things huh I dropped her finally I can't have toxic in my life. By the way yes I like the easy way. I like to keep it simple stupid in all things.

Problem with health care costs in US

Nope. Obamacare requires certain added basic coverages for all insurances. But beyond that it does not affect an employer sponsored health coverage. When you have more than 100 employees you have self funding for employer groups and that means that premiums are based on what your employees are actually having done and insurance paying for. Has nothing to do with obamacare The insurance can't charge you more based on all their customers having more surgeries, more heart attacks, more cancer. It will be dependant on your employers specific experience. So if last year they spent 10m and this year 100 people got cancer, 50 had heart attacks and 50 had weight loss surgery, then next year they're going to figure out that you will spend 50million and calculate the cost of premiums from there.

    Band to Sleeve...I think?

Congrats please use the search on this tool for pregnancy. I would recommend you wait for some time post surgery. You're not going to get more than 500 calories for quite some time and you will need to nourish yourself and a baby.

My Story + No Support From Wife

The gym my hubby joined offers private trainers. When you first join you get 1 visit with them at no charge. They come up with a plan of what goals you want to hit and show you what excercises and machines you need They're always around to show you how to use them Hubby lost his 100plu pounds on his own. When he plateaud he paid for 10 private trainer sessions and lost the remaining 50. I on the other hand tried the same route lost 20 put on 10. You know.... I was sleeved in June 2014. I wish you the best of luck. I would recommend talking to your wife about her concerns. Then if they're related to the possible complications - take her to a seminar. Irregardless make sure you tell her that you love her, it's about you, that this in no way affects her choices to remain as she is. Then take it one day at a time. Be careful that she isn't so against it she sabotages any weight loss. I have a friend whose hubby sounds like your wife and he does all the cooking. It's been a difficult 4 months for her.

    Self Control ?

I think you should give yourself a little more credit. My sleeve doesn't stope from eating chips all day long. Or a full bag of popcorn at the movies. There are things that we can eat that don't make us feel restriction but we choose not to eat them. Perhaps you haven't found those yet I am a lot like you. I needed restriction. The permanent kind. I thought about the band for about a quick minute. I know myself and know that I would've failed at it. I needed more permanency.
  15. Bellabloom you may have drank that water too fast I know at 7 mos post j take two hours to get 16 ounces in.
  16. Yes freezing. All the time. Especially my feet. Just can't seem to get them warm no matter what I do

    Rant time.

Its such a roller coaster of emotions and as you lose weight the hormones stored in your fat are released and causes you even more emotions Get yourself a laxative. Milk of magnesia works for me. Then start a regimen of Fiber gummies or a stool softener Increase your calories little by little. Instead of the low cal Snacks like cheese switch to beef Jerky maybe or a little tuna or a roll up. Hugs????????✊
  19. Didn't he test yu before putting it in? Congratulations. There are many members who've become pregnant post surgery. Talk to your ob and make sure that she understands your lifestyle and can counsel you appropriately on Vitamins and nutrition need you have

That didn't cause the rates to double. The reason if you are an employer of 100 or more they look at all the claims and recalculate actual costs The company also could have decided that in past they were covering 100% of all premium costs and now will only cover 70% of them. They blame obamacare because it's a usefully timed reason

    All alone in this

Honey I just want to give you a big hug. Call your moms jnsurance for that respite care. Your dad can't see that as putting her somewhere it's just a nurses aid to come in the home to do what you and your dad are already doing for a few hours
  25. Jersrose43

    All alone in this

I would offer you two options that you need to seriously consider and start now to make arrangements Call your moms insurance. Assuming it's medicare but potentially also medicaid. One or both will offer HER. Respite care. They will send a nurse to the home for certain hours a day for certain amount of time to give you and your dad a respite. You need to look into that immediately. For now and forever because it's hell caring for someone and a lot of folks don't take it on. Second find resources in your area allowing her to go there for the day. Like a skilled adult day care. That have the resources she needs. You shouldn't need much care at home from visiting nurses. Those come in for an hour. Give you meds, take blood etc but do not much more. They are not aides which is what your mother needs Best of luck
