  1. I'm freezing all the time. It's the loss of insulation I guess I do take a glass of Water to bed every night but just take some sips. I have always done that though not due to surgery. You're walking a lot for someone who just had surgery 6 days ago. 6 miles a day?? I was barely doing a block much less a mile or 6. You may want to slow down just a little let your body catch up a bit. Are you taking your Vitamins? Especially b's? You may need some extra with all the walking I think you're sweating the vitamins and electrolytes out of your body too soon

    Older sleeve patient advise.

Because you're normal It's normal to worry and be concerned and fear surgery. It's a big deal. But have faith you'll be ok

    Insurance Approval?

Seems a little odd to not make an initial consult appt until after insurance check but guess they don't want to waste your time and find out later it's not covered.

    Help/Scared! Possible ulcer!

It may seem like a lot of blood and likely isn't. If it's an ulcer they'll need to do some testing to confirm maybe an EGD? Also are you having any hemorrhoids ? Could've been that since you had so much diarrhea Could be a tummy flu Have you had ulcer like symptom or did this just come on?
  5. Call different surgeons and ask cash prices which include facility costs

    Insurance doesn't cover surgery.

I took a 401k withdrawal to consolidate debt. Tax guy was against it but turns out they don't recommend it because folks notoriously stop contributing to 401k while they pay off the debt. I am paying the debt and jncreased 401 k contribution so see no issue
  7. I liked ordering matzoh ball soup. Many places use chicken broth and the matzoh can be placed on a to go container right away.
  8. Where does it say she was being unsupportive? She's frustrated by not being able to enjoy her social life because of the liquid requirements. I get it. That doesn't mean she's unsupportive. He's right it's a temporary family adjustment and she's having a bit of a hard time as he is. Don't be all Debbie downer on her Life was about going out and drinking and socializing over food. So was mine. I went out to dinner week 2 post op and been out every weekend since. I didn't stop pre op either. It's just all about the choices! I don't drink I ate Soups I ordered mashed potatoes at certain phases I ordered soft foods when needed And I even -- eegads --- went to a pizzeria several times ! I always order a side of meatballs - no pizza for me It helped that all our friends knew what I'd done so it made it really easy from that perspective. Choices folks! They're out there. Wrap your head around the choices. You don't have to give up being social. You make different choices. Now if wifey and friends push you into a beer or other bad choices. Go home.
  9. That is a long time. Maybe go to a diner and just enjoy some soup. Sip slowly and enjoy. She can have whatever she likes. She just likes your company
  10. How long have you been on liquids? Can you go and just get a soup ?

    Hsa For Surgery In Mexico?

I believe you can. Have the clinic charge your card a small amount to ensure to works when you get there The cards are tied to types of locations. It prevents you from using it for gas or beauty salons. Etc.
  13. First contact the head of where you had this surgery. This is completely inappropriate from a "medical professional" and his boss needs to know Second, next time shut down the conversation. This is none of your business. I am proceeding with a decisions that is right for me and my situation. If you continue I would like your supervisor to chaperone the remainder of this appt. Third. Call your insurance. File a quality of care complaint. The care you received was highly lacking in quality. They will ensure this person gets appropriately educated and no other future patient suffers the same. Unacceptable. I encourage you to make the appropriate phone calls

Also Cigna sells to many - employers can make their own rules, they sell to other insurances who also can make additional rules but thy have to be in your spd https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf

    Say no to Lap-Band video

So I am sleeved I read all these horror stories about bands. I originally wanted the band and went the other way I've met several people who went from band to sleeve or rny. However I have been supremely open about my surgery. And last month a coworker shared with me she's been banded for almost 10 years. No one knows. She's about 5' 9, 180 pounds ish. She looks fantastic. No side effects ever. Still working for her and she's still working it. She has completely changed her lifestyle. She's perfectly happy. So as others have stated. Each one is different and had I known she had it and successfully ... Who knows. I am happy with my sleeve. I wish you the best of success. But o think you need to meet people with a lap band perhaps thru a support group and that may help you.

    Insurance doesn't cover surgery.

Did you call Cigna ? Cigna sells many differing type of policies. However weight loss is covered is covered by Cigna. What could be happening is the following 1- your employer specifically excludes it. Cigna can tell you 2- Vanderbilt could be mistaken. Cigna can tell you 3- Cigna may only cover it at a Cigna center of excellence for bariatrics. Vanderbilt may not be one. You can follow item 4 4- log onto/register at www.mycigna.com and check your own benefits. Pm me if you need more assistance. I have Cigna
