Welcome to banded life...wind...Lol. Yes ECGREEN...it is definitely gas pains and walking is the best remedy. Also have someone give you karate chops across your shoulders to break it up.

Careful with the bending over. I was advised to not do sit ups or crunches for 6 weeks due to suture healing and bending over is very similar to both. Have someone assist you.

This had been a very good week. Besides fatigue I only had 1 challenge...hunger! I have now advanced to pureed Soups and it holds me over for a little while but I still feel like I need more to eat. I've added more Protein Shakes to my daily menu so hopefully that will help.
Thank you for all of the well wishes everyone and helping me push through. Looking forward to soft foods next week.

Mrs.Ski...checking on you after surgery. I pray you're well and let us know if you need anything. Remember to rest and push the protein.... WALK WALK WALK

Congratulations and welcome to the team! I'm 4 days post-op, returned to work today. I feel pretty good, a little tight, but I'm taking my time. Mentally I'm psychiking myself out so that I don't take anymore of the pain meds. and I think most of my soreness is from my hernia repair. Listen to your body and don't fall for temptation.

#2muchfun...I definitely believe I should be eating more according to the manual. However, you're exactly right in saying that I should only eat what I can handle. The nurse called me again and told me to not get so caught up on the numbers. So for now I'll just keep up the same regimen. Thanks for the support!

Do today is day 3 and I am totally confused on how I should be feeling at this point. I'm NOT hungry at all, only able to drink 2 Protein shakes per day and 2 bottles of Water. I've had a few cups of chicken broth, and sugar free popsicles but I'm extrememly full after eating anything. The incisions are healing well and I spoke with the nurse about my eating habits when she made the post-op call and she assured me that everything is okay. I think mentally I feel like I should be eating much more than what I am currently eating now. The only true pain I've felt is from the port site and gas pains in my shoulder area.
Having such a great support team here and at home is the best!

Hi Myra,
I have heard there a many places Mexico that does good plastics, however, you must do your research. I've also heard that the Dominican Republic has good surgeons too.

@marathongirl...hang in there. You're "stress eating" now and its okay ad long as you don't go overboard. Sending your dad well-wishes to gain courage. You too are being tested for your strength...you can do it.

Hello mkcougar99...happy to hear you're doing so well...definitely keeping me encouraged. Keep up the good work.

Day two post-op...feeling better than expected. I believe I was afraid of severe pain since I've had two c-sections and a hysterectomy in the past (NOT THE BEST FEELING). Amazingly the only sore spot is the two inch cut where the port is placed. I don't want to jinx myself, so I'll leave it at that. Also, I've been taking the extra strength Gas-X strips to prevent gas pains and bloating. Sugar- free popsicles (2), warm apple juice (1 cup) and two ounces of Water is all I've had since Thursday before midnight. I'm trusting my band to tell me "I'm full" and sticking to the post-op diet. My instructions are to have as many Popsicles I can tollerate and begin thin Protein Shakes (2) today. I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for all of the well wishes everyone! I'm home, resting now. Thankfully I'm not in pain so far, keeping on top of pain meds and walking A LOT. For those of you who are scheduled to have your band placement in the future...continue reading the forums because one thing I know for sure is that the forums helped me wrap my brain around expectations at the surgery center and prepared me for my recovery so far. I'll keep you posted on tomorrow of my 1st night.

So today is the beginning of the rest of new life. I have researched, read books, asked questions and it all leads up to my personal experience. I have to report to the surgery center at 8:30am, for a 10:30am start so I am STARVING at this point. Blessings for myself and all of my other fellow banders out there

@vogue...
my husband I'd totally against me having a lap band placed but he is still supporting MY decision. His beliefs are that we can lose weight the traditional way together, however he's a pure natural when it comes to any exercising regimens. The decision for WLS has been one of my ultimate goals for 2014, and with the support of my husband, children amd mother, I KNOW I will succeed. I've only told two friends of my decision and they are supporting me 100%. Friday is so close but yet so far away. I'm super excited and emotions are all over the place. #nervous #anxious #happy

Congrats on a successful post op experience. I'm being banded this Friday April 18th and my emotions are all over the place... I've been successful on the two week pre-op diet (not perfect) but I keep reassuring myself that it will all he worth it in the end. I wish you much continued success ????

Wow...I think your "rant" is very valid, although, I've never seen anyone post their "true" thoughts about how we (future banders) should feel post surgery. I'm mentally preparing myself for the after effects and currently strong enough mentally to go through the challenges, however, I'm sure its like any other aspect in life... I'll never know how I'm going to do until I go through it. I'm scheduled for April 18th.

Congratulations Enuf! Today is the day to get the tool that will change your life forever. Keep us posted and good luck!

Recently I had lunch with a friend who had a Gastric Bypass! She has lost 120lbs and looks amazing! I know that it isn't my place ..... To voice my concerns about her surgery! That was her choice and I only offer support!
I had lap band surgery a month before she did and have lost 55 pounds in 7 months! The last two months I have stalled ... Not gaining but losing a pound or so every two weeks! I have 6.5 cc's in my 10 cc band and I am not at green yet! I am almost there but it takes time and I won't drop weight consistently until I hit green! I am ok with that! I am ok with sloooowww! She's not! Short of ending the friendship I am at a loss! We had different surgeries! I love this woman and don't want to start a war but I can't stand the .. Looks of ... You should of had this surgery!!! Look at me and my new body! She drags me shopping and says... Should of had my surgery and you would be wearing this! Ugh!
One side note about me!!! I don't bite my tongue very well but for this friendship I have! However, I am wearing thin! I am gonna snap!
What should I do???
Let her go and live YOUR life. Don't let her envy become your obsession. Obviously you're doing something right because she's still talking. When she's no longer talking, that will only mean she's strategizing for other ways to BREAK you. #miserylovescompany

I have fought the battle of the bulge all of my life with fad diets and I have had the yo-yo effects of my weight for as long as I can remember. This year is the year that I'm determined to change my life forever. I consulted with True Results for the first time yesterday and was told that my insurance has an exclusion for bariatric surgery, however, I can still be approved to have my Lap-Band placed because I have a hiatal hernia and this is a pathway for placement. I had an EGD that confirmed diagnosis of my new best friend "hernia" and I am super excited. My surgery date is not yet confirmed but I was told that we are aiming for April. I thought this to be a very speedy process, but they like to move at this pace because I'm willing to move at the same pace and it will not allow me to have second thoughts. I begin the pre-op diet next week and look forward to the next steps. I live in Humble-Atascocita and I would like to know if there are any support groups in my area? Please let me know and I look forward to more posts soon, by for now.

Congratulations and welcome! You'll love the support on here before and afterwards. Work the band, and don't listen to excess "noise". Stay on track with your lifestyle change and exercise. Good luck!
