    Post-Op Pain

i actually have an incision that is infected, noticed it yesterday. Last night it became painful. Going to see my surgeon tomorrow.
  2. I had the same problem when drinking the first five days maybe. It seemed like I was always swallowing air and it was painful. Alas it does get better!!
  3. Were you drinking while you were eating? Fluids help the food slide down easier!

    Post-Op Pain

Wow!! You should call your dr office and let them know!! My dr prescribed liquid hydrocodone for pain! Also the above comment is right! Keep walking some every hour to prevent blood clots but you need to let yourself heal!!

    Milk products = no go

  6. I have noticed after surgery that things containing milk cause nausea/diarrhea.... I'm 9 days post op I started my creamy Soups phase yesterday and it's hard to find anything creamy that doesn't contain dairy products. Or maybe it's just my stomach adjusting. Whatever the case I feel SICK. Not to mention yesterday I wanted REAL food. Sushi being my main craving right now for some reason. Protein and fluids, dear lord they haunt me. I cannot for the life of me get all of my fluids in. I finally found a Protein shake, Premier Protein, that has 30 g of protein in each shake and it also doesn't have milk so I am doing better with protein intake. But the fluids are killer. I was prepared for pain, cravings, emotions.... Not the simplest part. To be able to stay hydrated, which now I see is not simple. It's funny to me that I was prepared for tremendous pain, which I never felt post op. At worst it felt like I had worked on my abs for a good 5 hours the day before. And drinking is what is messing me up..... I really do hope that it is my stomach adjusting back to real foods lord knows I love cheese and yogurt.... I guess we will see

Par fruit juice is part of my morning routine, it seems to also help keep my bowels moving. I have also found that milk of magnesia works wonders as well! So glad you aren't having trouble hitting your protein and fluid goals!!!

    2 days post op

i have already lost about 10 lbs since surgery!! so exciting! i love the fact that hunger is no longer an issue but it is strange at the same time. One of the ladies i work with said she feels like she is missing one of her friends. I'd say it is a good friend to miss!!! Hope everything keeps progressing well for you!!! One thing i wasn't prepared for is about day 3 or 4 i was very emotional, all of the questions you will get "how does it feel" "what does full/hungry feel like" and so on gets to be a bit too much at times!!!
  9. Today I am 2 days post op. I can say that as far as pain it was tolerable getting up an moving around usually required a little pain med afterwards. I actually have been having trouble urinating. Dr says things will get better once all of the anesthesia is out of my system. Gas pains are bad though, but as long as I got up and walked and took slow deep breaths the pain would go away. Last night I are a sugar free Popsicle and got full just from eating that. What a change. Hunger has not crossed my mind yet. Even though I have taken in very little. I know this will change at some point but Popsicles seem to be my food of choice thus far! Anyways good luck to all the sleevers out there!!! Surgery was a breeze the worst part so far has been the all over body soreness and the ride home was rough!! But I am so excited to begin this new journey

@@ChavaBling so glad I am not alone! Tonight I made my fiancé some fried chicken which used to be a favorite for us. It seemed so wrong to want a bite which I know would end horribly. My mom keeps telling me give it a few months and you can have it bit I think after all we have been through I don't need to go there. Those are the foods that got me here, I don't ever plan to go back to that point. Luckily I have found some vsg recipes that my fiancé would eat, and we have some recipes I have ideas to make sleeve friendly!! I have had some here and there days with the pain med I trying so hard not to use it unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. Also are you doing any type of exercise?!? I live in the country and my neighbors have mean dogs so I can't go walking here. I am def going to have to go get a gym membership soon!!!

    problem with drinking water?

I had problems with cold water the first few days I thought maybe it was just my distaste for water but learned that I do better with room temp than ice water!! So glad to know I'm not crazy lol!!!

    is PPI a must?

My Dr told me it helps keep the stomach acid down so it stays off if the suture line and aids in heeling
  13. Second day post op. Pain is def less than I expected, more sore from using my other muscles to try and get up and down.

  14. Less than a week to go... My feelings range from so ready to do this to Good Lord what am I doing. Granted i have not had surgery since i was 4 and i def dont remember what that was like i am more nervous about the anesthesia than i am the actual surgical procedure. Yesterday i went to the store and loaded up on clear liquids for my pre-op diet that started today, so far so good. The protein shakes really seem to help ease the hunger. Also very impressed that my pain cream (for my incisions) and scar cream made it to my house in less than 48 hours. Kind of nervous about the bowel prep though, since i have to drive 3 hours the night before my surgery to Dallas... that may be an interesting/long ride. At any rate i am excited to open this new journey. Yesterday i was telling my mom, i am only 25 and i have no idea of what it feels like to be comfortable in my own skin. I can't wait for that feeling!!!!
