  1. Yes, my hair has started falling out. I read it would happen but now that it is I'm freaking out just a little. I have thick hair and am starting to feel and see the difference. :(

UGH - my hair is falling out as well. My scalp got sunburnt this weekend! I haven't taken a lot of pictures since my surgery, but my sister snapped a picture of my niece and I the other day and posted on Facebook. My mom saw the picture and commented that she didn't think it was the most flattering since my hair wasn't done like it normally is. I explained that my hair was done, but it's normal anymore. I have lost so much that it's very thin and flat compared to what it used to be.

I am down 48 pounds since the day of surgery, and 63 pounds since my surgical consult. I'm feeling very discouraged lately. I think that I'm just dealing with some body image issues. I am having a hard time with my excess skin, and the fact that I'm loosing in my boobs, butt and gut but I don't notice it other places. I keep getting astonished looks and comments from people I haven't seen in a while, so I guess it's noticable. I just need to get my brain to catch up with my body.

  2. Thank you for posting some food ideas. I am getting bored with the items I've been eating, but I'm also finding that my stomach doesn't really like a lot of things I'm trying. It's nice to have some more things to try.

I love the tuna salad idea. I've been mashing some avocado with tuna - which tastes great but doesn't really add to the Protein content.

  3. I'be told quite a few people about the surgery, so it's not too hard accepting compliments, but I understand. I was at my surgeon's monthly support group last week and this came up. One of the guys had the best line - he said he just tells people he has "cut a few things out". You don't have to mention that one of those things is part of your stomach. Lol! Joking aside, you can be honest and say you are working hard on changing your diet as exercise. This is very much the truth for me at least!

  4. Hi all! I was sleeved 2/24 and I feel like I've been I a bit of a slump too. I did a 5k mud run two weeks ago and up to that I'd been training and sticking to a pretty strict exercise and diet regime. Now that the race is over, I've fallen off course. I'm still loosing, but it's SLOW! I need to motivate and get back to work...

I'm also having a tough time with food options at the moment. I am always on the run and don't have much time to prepare food. I want to find some more quick food options. I've been doing a lot of Greek yogurt, cheese sticks, Starbucks Protein boxes and even grilled chicken strips from Jack in the Box. Can you all share some of your protein-heavy food choices either pre-packaged or fast food? Thanks!

  5. Hi all! I was sleeved on 2/24. Will be 3 weeks post-op on Friday. It sounds like we've had similar experiences. Knock on wood, I've had very little pain and pretty much no complications. I'm thankful that I did not have to do a liquid pre-op diet because the post-op liquid diet was hard. I despise Protein shakes! I've tried every incarnation and have come to the conclusion that they SUCK! I've lost 36 pounds total since my initial consult, 21 of those post-op. I'm seeing se more impressive numbers on this board and feeling a little worried that I'm not loosing as fast as I should be. My aversion to Protein Shakes makes it tough to get enough protein. I'm still on a soft food diet through next week, so I'm eating a lot of Greek yogurt, soft flaky fish, cottage cheese, etc. I'm wondering if I'm eating too few calories. I have an appointment with my dr next week and hope to get a better understanding. How are you all doing at this stage? Are you on soft foods as well? Any favorites?

  6. Hello everyone. I have be lurking for a few months and am excited to make my first post. So my story is the same as many others with weight. However I started this process last month and have been cleared for surgery already. My date is the 26th of this month. Kinda scared me when it all went so fast as many stories here talk about months and even years of waiting. I feel I am ready and have as much knowledge about the procedure and lifestyle change coming. I guess I was expecting months of waiting and lots of time to ponder. Don't mean to sound arrogant or insensitive to those who do end up waiting a long time I just want to make sure there is nothing I have overlooked in all this.

I too was approved and had surgery within about a month of my consult. I am now 2 weeks out and feeling great. Good luck to you! Don't second guess your luck, think of it as something that was destined to happen. Here's to the new you!
