  1. I'm sorry you all are getting frustrated already. But remember how much you have lost and surgery! There are lots of different reasons why the scale may not move. If you have added carbs back in you will have glycogen increase which increases Water weight up to 10 pounds. Which means you could be losing fat but because there's an un balance it's not going to show up right away. Also there is that thing that I posted out about earlier how you could be burning fat but your fat cells to be filling up with Water. That is also an issue. Also it's hard for us to get our water in right now and water flushes fat. so the more we can drink the more that can actually get flushed from the system that's been getting burned.

So there a lot of factors in your body that's why a lot of people say only weigh once a week. Also a true stall it has to be at least I think 2 or 3 weeks for it to even be considered a stall at all. Take a deep breath everyone this is just the beginning I'm sure we will have lots more ups and downs. There is typically a stall for everybody at about 3 to 4 weeks so some of you may just be getting your stall early and may stall again at that time so best not to get too frustrated too early (hard I know!) just remember the average lots the first month is 20-30lbs and we all have weeks to go!

  2. I am pretty new, only a little over one week out. I am just curious on how you all did your diet. Did you keep it super strict low carb under 20 grams or did you have fruit and the occasional carb but not worried about being in constant ketosis. How did it affect your losses. Was the calorie restriction still enough to keep your loss is going even if it wasn't super low carb? I know its Protein first but if I'm having some chicken and there's a bowl of mashed potatoes I would love to have a bite but if I'm not going to lose weight unless I'm super low carb obviously for quite a while I'm going to try to stay away from that. I just I'm curious what your experience was with diet and carbs. Thanks

  3. I went from the US to Mexico for surgery. Went to an amazing doctor and like you did all the blood work and stuff the day before. But what I really liked was being in the hospital 3 days where the surgeon checked on me and I had 2 nurses round the clock. I wouldn't like only being in the hospital 1 day unless they are giving you major meds for pain, woke up after the second night in lots of pain. Also be SURE you get to do a barium swallow before you leave the day after surgery and take video of the screen as you do it so you have that. That is vital info for your docs back home and it will let you see how your sleeve will work.

  4. The body needs fat. If you are eating low carb (around 20g a day) then your fat and Protein should is fine being higher. Honestly, try to add some butter to a scrambled egg, a little more fat in the meat. Your body may need the fat and higher calories to get going. If you are eating low carb the fat goes through your system so it just will aid in getting you a bit more calories and getting things moving.

  5. I do nails, so a desk job but not totally un-physical. I had to go back at 6 days (would have LOVED more but not possible). I took it easy, with just 3 clients, the next day 5 and 7 clients yesterday. I made it through but it wasn't until yesterday that I even considered not taking a pain pill to get through it. So as long as you have a pain pill to help with the discomfort, I think you are fine at a week or so.

  6. There is a typical 3 week stall. Some may have it sooner, some later. 20-30 pounds the first month is average. We still have 3 weeks in the first month! So its likely to stop here and there.

Here is some chemistry on that which may help

after fat cells had been emptied of stored triglyceride, they would temporarily refill with Water (glycerol attracts water, which might be part of the mechanism). Fat cells filled with fat take up more space than fat cells filled with water, so you may see inches go. Then, after some time frame, the water would get dropped, the fat cells would shrink down. That is, the fat was emptied and burned off days or weeks ago but until the water is dropped, the scale didn't change.

Mine isn't showing much of a loss because of TOM. Its *brutal* today. Definatly more painful than normal. no fun. But I'm guessing in 3-4 days I should see a whoosh.

  7. Its not easy but your new stomach really needs time to heal. I didn't feel like anything sweet today, so to be honest I've only had Water. I'm glad that my stomach is doing its job with the hunger thing. But you have to get past head hunger, thats the worst.

I still have 2 more days of clear liquid until Monday, then I'll be able to do premier shakes so I'll easily up my Protein. I have to do liquids for another 10 days. Then finally puree. I'm looking forward to some pureed chili!

  8. jen, omg thats hilarious about the scale!! Yea what a difference. LOL I thought you were going to need to call up for a world record!

SH3 - I had one today! The red - it was EHH not great. I normally like punch flavor stuff but this was off. Someone suggested adding it to a bunch of Water, with crystal lite and i may do that with the remaning 11 bottles (I got a case online).

However the blue one I like. I drank that no problem. I wanted some orange, but they were out of stock. and I hear the grape is quite good. I will probably drink one of these every day for awhile. Starting monday I can start back on my premier Protein drinks which I really like, and they are 30g for a small container and it tastes a lot like chocolate milk. But I'm going to aim for 70g a day, at least during the work week. So thats one of each of those shakes. Any excess Protein I eat will be bonus. But since I can't really *eat* until July I'm not too concerned about it :) Not sure I'll buy more once they are gone. But I needed protein for my clear liquid time. And yea, VERY cold is key. And you gotta get past the weird mouth feel.

Kung - lactose! wow thats quite a discovery. Luckily its so easy to work around. Get the liquid drops of the enzyme. Add it to your dairy (when you do get the courage to try dairy again) and it will help a lot.

OK folks you gotta friend me so I can add you to the group since its secret.

Look me up by email: luvnailz@gmail.com

  9. Welcome new 27-31sters! I've added ya to the group list. I'm still reeling over some of your 20+lb in a week results!! Totally amazing (Im so jealous!)

NewTee I got this info and a whole bunch of other post op stuff from my surgeon and thought it might help motivate you to work on those liquids!

Dehydration can lead to nausea, vomiting, weakness, and confusion, but it can also lead to blood clots due to your blood becoming thicker, and stickier. You can get into a vicious cycle with the loss of fluids, as the more dehydrated you get, the less you may be able to take by mouth. This may require hospitalization so that Intravenous hydration can be provided. On the scope of importance fluids are #1. It is very important not to fall behind on fluids.

Also since some didn't get any info on what their diet should be

A diet consisting of 600-800 calories and

70 grams of Protein per day should be your goal for the first 6 months.

I have more info on exercise and stuff if anyone is curious.

  10. Holy cow jenlyn you have lost almost 30 pounds in a about a week?!? I didn't think that was even possible! Wow I'm def a slow loser then, I'm down 8 as of today from surgery weight. Jenlyn I'll add you to the group. Your surgery was the same day as mine. 27lbs already!!? Man I wish
