  1. Happy week 3 everyone!

Sorry I'm a day late, I fell asleep! I'll update this first page later tonight after I go through and add in the new people and the updates from Surgery day weight lost! If you didnt post it in the thread or PM it to me, you can do that today and Ill update it. It will be fun to look back at old weekly threads and see where you were as the weeks go on :)

By now pretty much everyone should be feeling good, not on pain meds and either still enjoying a rest or back to work. Its amazing its already been a few weeks. My doc is so particular about food timing with the new stomach to let it heal so Im still on liquids until next Wednesday (blah). But Ive started being creative, licking a spoon of peanutbutter like a popsicle is heavenly. Only get in about a teaspoon but its satisfying for sure! Do you have some recipes you have tried?? Do share! I'm excited for purees and look forward to sending some chilli through my Ninja to puree it a little. You better believe thats my dinner next Wednesday night!

A few are in a mini stall right now. Just be patient, drink some Water, and maybe walk a little if you haven't yet. If you are already walking a lot and stalling, upping your calories may help with the stall, get an extra Protein drink in.

Good luck this week everyone! We have an amazing group!

  2. My mom was really against it, she hates any surgery. So after I told her I wanted to do it and got all her objections I stopped talking about it with her. I had to do low carb pre op and I told her I 2 going on low carb which wasn't a lie. She just didn't know a week later I got surgery. I was SO OVER IT!! sick of figuring out the next diet and how long the weight I worked so hard to lose would actually stay off. I've never been half way to goal, and like you, been doing it since I was a kid. My stomach needed fixed so I could succeed. I did it for myself. And I was glad to be in the hospital 3 days without worrying about anyone but me. It's your life, no one else's, you have to decide what you want to make of it. :-)

  3. You gotta stop worrying about being constipated. Lol. The every other day thing counts when you are on a solid and eating normal. Not when you are on soft and mushy food and not eating very much to begin with. Think about it, it takes a lot of food for things to get for your system before it's going to come out. It needs to be a decent quantity. if you're eating 1/10th of what you ate before surgey that will take a while. So unless you're going 5-6 days, I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your savings in toilet paper. Lol

  4. I could have gone to insurance, most will eventually cover it - but as you said its a year process. I wasn't willing to wait that long. I also did a lot of research, and being a single mom I wanted the best care possible, and with docs here in the US sending people home the same day I didn't think that was possible. I chose Dr Aceves who works out of a hospital (not a clinic) in Mexacali. I read so many good reviews and really knew it was the best way to go. He does 3 leak tests, most in the US get just 1 during surgery. Its 3 days in the hospital to verify things are going well (and because he tests each day). The total (other than my $200 flight to san diego) was $8750. I saved and saved, and there are payment options as well. I had to wait 2 months because of my works schedule but I wished the whole time I didnt have to wait. I was back to work day 6. I'm excited knowing the doc I went to is the doc people go to when they need their bad sleeves fixed! He does such a good sleeve 96% of his patience lose ALL of their excess weight within a year. The sleeve is an art and he does it so well.

As for fear about stuff later. Everyone I've read said problems after going to MX they had were covered by insurance. I was confident since I had 3 full days in the hospital before going, the problems would be caught before I left anyway.

10 days, 13lbs later. Excited to see what the next year brings!!

  5. Has anyone had any issues with your veins near your IV site. My veins over my wrist where my IV went in on that hand are really really sore today like I can barely move my wrist without them hurting. It's a little bit puffy and my hand itself is ok with the veins over where my wrist bends are really sore. Anyone have any medical knowledge of what this might be. I don't wanna make big deal out of it if it's nothing but its weird that it showed up 10 days after surgery
