    So much questions

I started my period at least 10 days earlier than normal. The head hunger is hard. You are only 3 days out so you have quite awhile until the real food. Its a tough few weeks but you are doing awesome on the water!

    Struggling :(

The Protein shots are not at all the same quality as isolate protein. Its certainly good if you can't get the other Proteins in but whey and isolate proteins are best as they have the essential amino acids. So while this may be ok to help get numbers up, you might want to consider high quality protein for most of your intake. Found this on another post - Collagen based protein is not a great choice for bariatric patients because it just simply doesn't have the essential amino acids that we need to survive. In other words, its just junk, pretty much like potato chips and soda. There's just not enough nutritional value in it to meet the high demands for protein that our surgery requires to keep us healthy.

    Hungrier

Is she taking a ppi? Many have excess acid that mimics hunger.

PS - what do you all think about just doing a monthly group page now. We aren't posting as much so it makes sense.

I've never heard of it. My mom had her gallbladder out too and I don't think they ever offered her a med to help it. I think it would end up being a med you'd have to take forever On the plus side, the surgery for it is pretty easy for most. Outpatient and a few days home with some good pain killers. They may be able to use some of the same scars as your sleeve.

Gall bladder is our problem for women, anyone over certain age, and especially people who diet and lose weight. I had mine out while I was pregnant. Some doctors actually will take out the gallbladder the same time that they 30do the sleeve because most of the time if someone doesn't have it out already they're going to need it out soon after. It isn't a side effect of surgery, it's a side effect of losing weight

Par you have lost really fast. In fact I think you are one of the fastest losers. I'm sure your body is just trying to catch up a bit. I haven't lost this week either.

    Eating Slowly after the sleeve

I got a barium swallow x ray the day after surgery and if your doc does a tight sleeve your esophagus is larger than the opening to the stomach, so as you swallow it has to funnel in. It was a HUGE help to see that visual. If you haven't gotten to see your own stomach in action, I'd ask for a barium xray and be able to watch yourself swallow so you can see how it works. Really really helpful.

Good morning everyone! I just got done weighing and I'm thrilled. My weight kept fluctuating on the scale up and down over a pound while I was standing on it like it was possessed. I finally realized my hair bun must be leaning on the wall or something, so I scooted it out from the wall a foot and not only did it stop the fluctuating nonsense it showed 3 pounds lighter!!! I stepped on it 3 more times to make sure. Lol Beginning weight 268 SW 260 CW 230.5 -29.5!
  11. Im jealous! If I take a big gulp I have to keep half in my cheek and swallow in two parts. I feel a bit like a chipmunk. LOL

    Eating out card ?

I got one. Saved me a lot at one of the Vegas buffets by letting me pay the child size. another one didn't accept it. I'm not sure I'd often order from the kids menu, but I'd love to know what places will let you order half plates if anyone knows. I'm not a big leftovers fan either. Though I'm not sure how often I'll be going out any time soon.

    Why am i hungry?

Are yousure its hunger? Did your surgeon put you on a ppi? The acid after surgery tends to make gurgly sounds like hungry, but its not really hunger.

    hair loss

Nioxin helps a lot of people with hair loss. Check with your stylist. I used it after I lost hair with HCG. I'll use it again soon... I'm sure I'll lose hair again.
  15. Some people have stitches in there that is the problem. Check with your doc if it persists.
  16. We have no chicfila or el pollo loco. The other night it was already after 9 when I was headed home from work. My kiddo was hungry. Mcd's is one of the only places I can stop so I drove through and got her a 4 nugget meal and me 4 nuggets. I ate 3 of her fries and ate 2 nuggets (took an hour). 4 pieces are 190 calories.... Which means I easily ate less than 200 calories for my "dinner". It isn't the tiny amount (less than 200 calories) that we eat now that put on the 100+ pounds we are trying to get rid of... its the Big mac, fries and large drink (1000+ calories) that put the weight on. My lifestyle doesn't allow me to cook all the time, and as prepared as I am, if I am not in the mood for what I "brought" with me to work, I just won't eat... which isn't good either. I think its obviously important not to go overboard. But I think if you take into account your calories for the day, its not going to have the effect that your pre-sleeve stomach could eat.

    Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th! I nibbled on fruit, had a bite of my kids hot dog and even a small slice of a birthday cake. Down a pound this morning! I was reading through a few posts and was reminded that it wasn't the small bites or nibbles that made us large. It was the whole hot dog or burger, with chips, fruit and the cake plus brownies and soda that made us large. There are lots that are doing an amazing job at doing low carb, and maybe I'm the only one in this group that isn't quite so strict in that area. I did this VSG because I've done low carb and other diets ALL my life and I was SO OVER dieting. I'm not tracking calories, but I know from a rough estimate I get sometimes as low as 400 and sometimes up to 1000 (like yesterday when I had that small bit of cake). Looking at a lot of people's progress pics in that thread, most seem to lose between 60-70 in the first 6 months if they started around my weight. Anyway I feel a bit out on an island because so many of you are so strict with your low carb and working out (I'm not there yet, but at some point I know the bug will hit me again and I'll be back at it). I'm 4 pounds away from the 30lb mark. I feel really happy about that. I'm considering trying low carb during the week and relaxing the strict bits on the weekends and seeing how that goes. Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend. I am so thrilled to be home and have a few days off!!

  21. Krystal I love the Jimmy Dean idea. I wonder if I can do the breakfast sandwiches if I remove half the bread. I miss those.

    8 1/2 months! :)

That's great to hear. I'm going to do low carb until my first mini goal in 50lbs but to be honest I'm so sick of doing low carb I really just want to let the restriction do is job. Thanks for sharing!
  23. He was his assistant in every surgery for years. He assisted Aceves on me a month ago. I went to Dr Aceves for his artistry in how he does the sleeve, I would choose Dr Beltran now because he will be doing it the way he did it with dr aceves for so long. It's still so shocking :-(

You fabulous! Do you allow restriction to do is thing or did you do low carb the whole time?
  25. I'm a believer of more calories over less. I'd go up to 1000 calories for a few days then down to 600-800. Keeping the calories ranging helps your body wake up a bit and the metabolism guessing.
