Wow great loss! I usually get in about 60 carbs a day. I am a month out and aim for around 800 calories. Feel free to add me, my name is mollz007.
  2. Hey all! I will be a month out tomorrow! Surgery was on 2-20. Highest weight was 293, surgery weight was 280, as of yesterday I am 258! I am on the soft food stage until week 6. Recovery went very well, my only pain was from my incisions. I returned to work after 2 weeks and did fine.

    Pre-op diet timeframe?

Every program is different. I had to do a week of liquids. You lucky duck! Good luck in surgery!

    Three days post op

I started taking my vitamins on day 4. As far as food, every plan is different. I started pureed food on day 3 and that lasted until day 13. I'm on soft foods now for another couple weeks. I would ask your NUT if you aren't sure.

    Restriction?

Don't worry, this is normal. I am 3 weeks out and on soft foods and just starting to feel restriction. Just keep measuring your food and you will do great. Your nerves in your stomach are still healing.

    6 days post op

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well! I am 3 weeks out and have had an easy recovery as well. I hope things continue to go smoothly!

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

The first week is hard. It looks like you are doing well for being only 2 days out! Right now, the focus is fluid, it is REALLY hard to get all the protein in for the first couple weeks. Also, just because you are cleared for pureeds doesn't mean you have to do it. If it feels wrong, just stay on clears for awhile. As far as water goes, I love crystal light. I can't drink just plain water.

    What to bring?!?!

The extension cord is a good idea. All I brought to the hospital were slippers, clothes to wear home, and my kindle. Some people like to change into their own PJs after surgery, but I just stayed in my gown all night. I barely used my kindle at all, just watched TV and slept. Good luck!
  9. I am like you. I am 3 weeks post op, and from day 1 I didn't have a problem with fluids.

    Protien shakes & other drinks

Hi! My favorite powders are syntrax nectar chocolate truffle and the double stuffed cookie. I mix my shakes with milk now, but the first couple days after surgery I was not tolerating milk so well so I used water. Just a tip though, I mixed the double stuffed cookie with water one day because I was out of milk and I thought it was nasty! I also ordered a bunch of samples from Nashua Nutrition- love that site. I recently tried the celebrate cake batter flavor and it was pretty good. I like to mix that one with a bit of SF pudding mix.
  11. I would be upset too! I'm sorry to hear that! I didn't have much time with my surgeon past the initial consult... but at east I got to meet him!
  12. Sorry that you are going through this! Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  13. That is great news! Congrats!

    Getting started!

Good for you! The pre op diet is hard, I did clear liquids for a week. Day 2 of that was on valentines day and it sucked! (I may have cheated a little) Just keep your eyes on the prize. My doctor said that my liver looked great thanks to the pre op diet- and I lost weight! I only told my family at first too, and I was planning on keeping it that way, but then somehow everyone at work found out. It is totally an individual thing, some people like to tell everyone, and some like to keep it to themselves. I wish you the best of luck!
  18. Don't worry- the second day of my pre op liquid diet was on Valentines Day, and of course there was a party at work, so I cheated and had a few Cookies. Tomorrow is a new day!

First day of 2 week diet

Sounds like you have a great attitude! Your pre op diet sounds more bearable than mine- I had to do clear liquids! But I only had to do a week, thank god. Anyway, good luck, keep up the positive attitude!

2nd Thoughts- 3 days from surgery

I totally know what you mean! I lost 15 pounds on my pre op diet, which made me start to wonder if i tried to diet again and really stuck with it it would work this time. Of course, my situation is not the same because I still had a lot more weight to lose. I broke down crying the night before my surgery and called my mom saying I was worried I made a mistake. But I am so glad I went through with it! I am 3 weeks post op and I feel great- I am down almost 30 pounds! Surgery was a breeze too- I had a pretty easy recovery with not too much pain. Anyway, whatever you decide to do, good luck! Maybe your doctor can weigh in on this. And congrats for losing the 25 lbs!

    Sleeved yesterday

I am 3 weeks post op, and it definitely gets better! The first couple days are hard, but it is good that you are walking, that will help with the gas for sure! Also, this may sound stupid, but if you feel like you have to fart, DO IT! It feels so much better after! Lol! Hang in there!
  22. I wore sweats and pajama bottoms for the whole 2 weeks I was off work after surgery. The first two days, I was so bloated so there was no chance. I probably could have worn jeans after that, but I was too worried about messing up my incisions. The first time I wore jeans was my first day back to work and they felt fine, it didn't bother my incisions at all!
