Always hungry - help please!
Not necessarily. This is the type of detail that you need to discuss with your surgical and fill team. Until green zone is achieved it is a process of small fills and watching how that results in satiety. Two important things. Slow down your eating. A lot. Make that egg and sausage take 20 minutes to eat if you can. Tiny well chewed bites. You may be swallowing bites that are too big and overwhelming your band while you are eating. Then because it was only a few ounces of food you rightfully became hungry earlier than three hours. Ideal green for me is 4-6 ounces of p rotein followed by 3-4 hours without hunger. It took me eight fills and a year and a half to get to and keep my green zone. I also had to be honest with myself and clean up my food. Focusing on solid p rotein chewed well and no sliders.

How Do You Pay It Forward?
I belong to OA and in my Overeaters Anonymous meetings (and other 12-step groups) I am open and vocal about my LapBand and how it has helped me change my life. These are "my people" and I can only hope that my story helps somebody who has been in the same boat, and destigmatizes WLS.

What Change Did You Make that You Never Thought You Could?
I've made many big changes, but the most unbelievable to me was fried foods. Even after LapBand I was eating fried foods all the time. A typical daily meal was Popeye's fried chicken strips. My weight loss had basically stopped after 10 months post op. I finally gave up my deep fried everything 20 months post op. It has totally changed how I eat now and I am not craving lousy foods anymore. Slowly my weight has started to go down again.

How to tell your friends and coworkers about your surgery?
Start walking and doing high p rotein low carb. Nobody noticed until I lost 60 pounds. When they asked how I was losing weight I said walking and doing high p rotein low carb. Very few people know about my surgery. Very glad I kept my mouth shut.

Banders #7
I just have to share this with somebody and you guys are the lucky winners. Ha ha. I have wanted to get my teeth fixed for a long time and I never felt like I could justify spending the money. I have two so-called "peg teeth" which are basically underdeveloped teeth. Most of my life it didn't bother me too much, but as I have gotten older, they appear even smaller and darker, especially in pictures. So much so, in fact, that from a distance, it sometimes appears as if I am missing a tooth. Consequently, I stopped smiling widely a long time ago. Anyway, two things prompted me to get it done now. First of all, I always thought it was many thousands of dollars to get these two teeth fixed. Turns out it only cost $1800. Second of all, I found out that the wasband just decided to drop 11 grand of marital assets on dental implants for himself. Totally cosmetic dental work. I guess he's planning to date after the divorce is final. So I decided to use my tax refund and get two veneers. Below are before and after pictures. The before picture was kind of hard to find, because I rarely smiled widely in photographs in recent years. I'm not telling my daughters or anybody around me. I'm waiting to see if anybody notices.

Fill
That's good to hear. We should never stay in a situation where we can become dehydrated. Glad you're feeling better!!

Every day should get a little better. Walk if you can and be gentle with your sore stomach. I also found bending and reaching uncomfortable early after surgery. It's gets easier.

TREAT YO SELF
I'm on a divorce budget with college girls to support so my treats have to be affordable. I get a monthly no chip manicure. I have a foot massage once a month. I go to movies pretty often and all of my clothes shopping is at Goodwill.

Trying to find the courage to start over.
Hugs to you. Never ever ever give up on yourself. My advice is immerse yourself in the weight loss community. Post here often. Read here often. Go to WLS support meetings at various hospitals. They are usually open to everyone. Make appointments with your surgical team and keep them including the nutritionist. I also go to OA. Best wishes and again, hugs to you!

Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
Move forward. I waited way too long. And yes, I am the problem. But my wasband is the bigger problem. I know if I enter into a new relationship I must work hard on myself first. That doesn't mean I shouldn't have left.

Is this a stall or is this is?
Nuts and seeds. Once I actually measured them I was astonished how many calories I was eating of just nuts and seeds each day. My estimates were way off. Now I only eat them measured out and tracked.

The second most painful experience of my life..omg...this was bad
Here's a stupid question. But maybe not. I drink loads of decaf coffee every day but very little regular water. Kidney stones have never been on my radar, but this thread has opened my eyes. Thoughts?

Gas pain
Try to walk a lot and ask someone to karate chop your neck and shoulders a few times a day. It should improve day to day. Good luck!!

Girl Scout Cookies
I bought five boxes of Thin Mints from a coworker. Gave two boxes each to my college daughters and one box to my mom. Too deadly for me to play with.

Do People Treat You Differently Now?
Yes. More people talk to me. Men and women. Coworkers as well as strangers who have never met me. Some of it may be how I carry myself compared to how I did before. But not all of it can be attributed to that. I have mixed feelings about it as well. Happy and hurt at the same time.
