Bacon, thanks for the laugh. I spent all afternoon cooking with my friend and sharing stories and wine and cheese and dip. Come dinner time I took one bite and couldn't eat another. I didn't get stuck at all, just stopped. No big drama but clearly my band is doing what it can to keep me out of trouble. Today will be much more sensible. Protein first and no wine. No regrets. But I'm really looking forward to having some of that braciole!

Starting out at age 45? How common?
WLS at 53 and it's been the healthiest year of my life. No joke.

Fills
Lol I had no idea it was quoting somebody. My NP said it.

Banders #6
True but the band is still there. I haven't had a full blown cold since surgery almost a year ago. I know stress makes it feel tighter and I've heard that congestion really does a number on it too. Feel better soon!

My introduction. Ball starts rolling next week
I've had happy success so far with LapBand and I was banded at age 53. Not at goal yet but loving my life so far. Good luck and keep posting!

Fills
Sure glad to help. I aim for 4-5 hours between meals without hunger as a barometer of good fill level. When I was getting hungry after three hours again I decided on another tiny fill. My last two fills have been 0.01 each. Ticker--I can only do it from a PC. Search in settings.

Fills
I was in green but then my hunger was returning a little bit more between meals. So my sixth fill was another 0.01 cc fill bringing me to 7.6 in a 14cc band. This made a huge difference. Tiny fill, huge difference. Creep to your green. Don't overshoot it. My NP says it's much easier to creep toward a proper fill level than to retrieve it by unfilling. Good luck.

Ah! Penny! Why?!?!?(My 600 lb life)
Food addiction is a powerful thing. WLS doesn't operate between the ears. I've started watching some of these shows and I'm very humbled by the stories, the successes and the failures. I have no doubt my weight would have climbed until my early death had I not had WLS. Now I must stay vigilant and do my part. That means working on my brain. A day at a time.

Port Bulging Out
Stick to the rules. Drink 4 oz prune juice for relief. The pain meds constipate you. For the gas shoulder pain, ask someone to do karate chops on your neck and shoulders several times a day and walk walk walk. Good luck! It should get easier each day. Congratulations !!

Surgery

Welcome @@Wesley'sgurl29 I had a good day yesterday but only got half of my stairs in at work. My latest band fill has made a big difference in restriction even though it was only 0.01 cc. It has forced me to slow down my eating and chew chew chew. For me to lose weight my food choices will have to be smarter. Today my friend is spending the weekend here and we are cooking Italian favorites in memory of her mom. Braciole is a beef dish made from flank steak. This will be the first time since being banded that I'm going to try it. I love it and I don't want to get stuck, so chew I must. I'm also committing to exactly one small piece of dessert. Off to shop before she arrives. Have a good Saturday everyone!

The invention that could end obesity?
I read most of it and could not see what they do after removal of the device at six months. Not intended to be permanent. I can lose weight. Keeping it off required WLS for me.

My NSV today is wearing a new company polo shirt and jeans for casual Friday. Size L. When I was hired, the largest shirt they had (2x) didn't fit and I didn't own a pair of jeans. I love casual Friday now.

Yesterday went well. Got my stairs in at work. Went out for dinner and ate moderately. I'm having a friend over for the weekend who recently lost her mother. We are going to cook some of her mom's Italian favorites. Braciole, friselles, Swiss chard, fried dough with currant filling. That's Saturday. Today is casual Friday at work and we recently received new corporate polo shirts. I am going to wear a size L company shirt for the first time. Years ago when I was hired, the largest size (2X) didn't even fit. And I didn't own a pair of jeans. I was the only one who dressed the same on casual Friday as every other day. Life is good.

Six Weeks Post Op...And All Okay!
Very inspiring. Congratulations!!!

So what do you do about pants?
Yep. Goodwill.

duplicate posts abound!
On this subject, I wish folks posting a general question or comment that's not specific to a particular surgery type would put it in the general forums and not sleeve forums, etc. I like to see posts about NSVs and universal issues, but I don't want to scan the sleeve forums for them since I'm a bander.

OMG! Is THIS what the Green Zone feels like? AWESOME!
That's great! Keep in mind it does fluctuate a bit, and some days/meals will be more or less restrictive. But yay!!! It's why we got the band and yes, it feels so good when it starts to help us!

I didn't get hungry mid morning today so that was good. lunch I had to eat veeeeerrrrryy slowly because it is the first time trying pot roast after my last fill. Boy did I have to chew it to mush. Upside of that is it took me thirty minutes to eat my cup of food. Having trouble doing the stairs today. Got interrupted by somebody in the stairwell. So I have to get the rest of the stairs in this afternoon. Drinking Water and about to make a cup of tea.
