2 months out an crazy happy

You look great!!!! Keep up the good work!!
  3. I started my pureed/soft diet as well. The first time I had an egg I ate it too fast and I couldn't finish it. The second time, I took my time and it went down well. I've been eating chicken salad as well and there hasn't been a problem. I'm surprised how well foods are going down. As long as eat slowly, then my sleeve is a happy sleeve. Congrats on your progress!
  4. I'm 12 day post op and today was the first day where I didn't notice any incision pain. I never any horrible pain but more soreness unless you count the time my dog jumped on me (that hurt like a SOB). If I touch my largest incision, it feels tender but no pain. I can't wait til they look more healed and less stitch-y. lol.

    For Women Only...

I started my period during my pre-op diet even though I'm on the depo shot which prevents my period all month long. Its weird but I'm chalking it up to my body going through so much change in a short period.

8 days post op follow up

You go girl!! I'm starting pureed foods on Monday though I tried some scrambled eggs this morning.
  8. I'm 7 days post op and I'm getting all my fluids but I'm still struggling with my Protein. I want to start my pureed stage but I was told not to until next monday. Has anyone else started the next stage early??
  9. I am 8 days out and I haven't lost any weight in 3 days (though I've dropped 21 lbs since starting my pre-op diet) . I don't really consider it a stall since I'm not eating real food or working out how I use to. I've been walking about 20-40 minutes a day and I'm still on the full liquid diet. I don't plan on clocking stalls until I'm doing cardio and strength training. It's too early to get frustrated. Your body just went through it, let it heal and it will bounce back.

    Should I be concerned?

If you caused a staple to pop, I believe you would be in immediate pain. The Water filling your mouth is called slime-ing. It happens when your sleeve doesn't agree with a food or you haven't eaten slow enough. I haven't experienced this myself but I've done a lot of research of the food stages and food aversions. I'm not sure if the popping sound was maybe gas or something. If you start to have really bad pain or continue to slime, I would contact your healthcare team.
  11. I didn't take it that way at all. I questioned my NUT's philosophy too because everyone on this forum is on protein shakes and it just seems easier. I got the VSG. Thanks for the support!!!
  12. My NUT feels (and I agree) that you can get your Protein from natural sources. I've been having double milks (8 oz skim with 1/3 cup dry milk) but I'm slightly lactose-intolerant so it hasn't been settling right with me. Protein powder has a lot of sodium (530 mg per serving) which can cause you to retain Water. I've been hitting 50 grms of protein a day but if I could introduce eggs and pureed meats then I could up my protein. It is crazy how different each NUT's instructions are. I trust my NUT's recommendations but it's insane how soon people go on pureed food as per their NUT's instructions.
  13. I've emailed my NUT about starting early with my pureed stage (I still haven't heard from her). I'm not looking to have pizza or burgers though if you're able to stomach them then more power to ya. I would love to introduce some eggs or pureed chicken so I can fulfill my Protein requirement. My NUT doesn't recommend Protein shakes so my protein intake is coming only from milk, yogurt, and other natural protein sources. Thanks for everyone's concerns but I will follow what my NUT until she says otherwise. I just wanted other's opinions.
  14. Thanks everyone! I will be strong!
  15. I'm 6 days post op and surprisingly getting my fluids in without a problem. The issue I'm having is trying to get in my Protein since I'm since in full liquid diet phase. I've never gotten more than 40 grams protein in one day which is frustrating because I know the more protein I get in - the better I'll feel. My NUT suggested protein pudding and ohmergawd it's amazing! 1 packet of sugar free vanilla instant pudding (or any flavor your little heart desires) 2 scoops of Isopure Creamy Vanilla (or which ever flavor your have) 2 cups of Skim milk Whisk for 3 minutes or until it sets. Separate into 5 small containers. Servings 5 Calories: 122 Protein: 10 g

    Tea

I'm 6 days post-op and I asked my NUT on day 4 if I could have some tea. She said as long as I cut it with fat free milk then it would be ok. Sweetened with splenda of course.

    Liquid diet

Hey Everyone, I'm on the other side of the pre-op diet. (Post op day 5) I had never stuck to such a strict diet before but I knew it was all worth it. Did I get hungry, yes! Were the craving unbearable, not entirely. When I was having a bad craving, I would get up and do something or chew on a piece of gum. I even had to bake 40 halloween cupcakes for a bake sale I had volunteered for. The whole time I had my partner taste everything for me so I would know everything came out yummy without cheating. I've read about doctor's opening up patients and closing them back up and not doing the surgery because they hadn't lost enough fat around their liver. And I didn't want that to happen to me. Just keep your head down and keep trucking along. It's hard but all worth it.

    Day 2!

I'm 4 days out and today was the turn around day for me. I had my first post-op appointment and I was able to get my JP drain out which definitely made moving around a lot easier! It's also the first full day I haven't felt the need to take pain meds which is reassuring. sleeping is still uncomfortable but I'm stomach sleeper so I have had to try and sleep on my back....ick. Other that occasional gas bubbles (which I'm controlling with Gas-X) I haven't had any hiccups and I've been getting my food and fluids down. Glad to hear you guys are doing well. It gets better day by day.
  21. I was sleeved 10/27 and I only had a one night stay in the hospital. I had not complications and no nausea. I did have gas bubbles really bad the first time I tried chicken broth. I got really car sick on the way home but I didn't throw up. When I go home I felt really overwhelmed and had second thoughts about going home so early. I was able to sleep off my doubts but it wasn't until today that I started to feel less weak and more normal. I have been able to get in my yogurt, milk, and Water. I haven't had any nausea with any of the food I've tried on my full liquid diet. My pain level has definitely diminished but I still have JP drain in which tugs sometimes uncomfortable. I get that taken out tomorrow which I'm excited about. All and all, I'm feeling less helpless and more like this was the right decision. Plus 5 lbs lost in 4 days isn't bad! How is everyone else doing?
  22. I would try to stick to your pureed diet as much as possible. Your stomach is still so new and non-pureed meat might really damage your new sleeve. I know it's hard but it's temporary and it will be worth it in the end.

    Holiday Challenge!

I'm in!!! I have my surgery on 10/27 so it be a great way to keep track during my first months of post-op.
  24. I start my pre-op diet on Monday (October 13th) and I'm really going to need some extra support. A little bit about myself: born in Massachusetts, lives in Iowa, blogger, dachshund owner, and crafter. I'd love to keep in a touch with a few fellow sleevers as a mutual support system. Hope to hear from ya'll soon!!!
  25. I'm on day 11 of my 14 day pre-op diet and so far I've lost 7 lbs which is less than I thought I wasn't going to but still worth it.
