  1. My stomach feels no different, but when I eat, air constantly travels back up my esophagus and makes crazy noises! I know I am full when either the food feels like a brick or cramps in my stomach, or I start to hiccup. Being "hungry" is different as well. It is no where near as intense as it used to be. For me, I am loving the fact that after only 34 days I am already starting to feel differently about food. I was so looking forward to soft foods and eating this and that. Now two or 3 bites and it feels weird and I don't get the pleasure that I used to from it. Hopefully, I am on the track toward "eating to live" not "living to eat".

  2. I was the same- lost 12 lbs in the 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and then stalled for 12 days. I lost 1.5 lbs this weekend and I hope it keeps up. I look at it this way- I wasn't hungry!

  3. Are you allowed Protein drinks? My pre-op diet included them. I used the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury products- 1 for Breakfast, the Soup for lunch, 1 for an afternoon snack and another for dinner. Other than being boring I wasn't starving with the high Protein intake. The premier Protein Drinks from costco are also really good. Below are the ingredients for the Unjury products. Are you allergic to any of them?

Ingredients: whey Protein Isolate, Fructose, Cocoa powder (Alkali Processed), Natural Flavors, Soy Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Sea Salt, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Potassium Chloride.

  4. I was 210 starting weight and even though I am only 3 weeks out, it has been worth it for me so far. It has reset my focus to exercise and to remember to put my health and food choices first.

Also I was afraid of the Water consumption as well, but I can still drink a lot. You will see that liquids go down pretty easily.

  5. I figured since we are not getting much Water through food consumption that our bodies much be using it far more efficiently. All my pre-surgery blood work was really good so I don't think it kidney failure :(, but it seems quite weird to not have to go throughout the day or at least shortly after finishing a 16 oz bottle of water. Stephsjourney- let me know what he says:)

  6. Well clearly we are all in same boat so it must be a real thing! I lost 16 pounds in the 2 weeks pre-surgery and 12 lbs in the first 2 1/2 weeks after and nothing since. In fact, I went up a pound today- seems impossible. I am getting in all of my Protein, getting most of my Water and walking everyday. It is supposed to be a rainy, wet, yucky week here in Michigan. Hopefully next week will bring sunshine and dropped numbers on the scale.< /p>

  7. I am typically the calmest, coolest person around and I was a basket case for at least three weeks before the surgery. I created every negative scenario in my mind. I had a racing heart, flushing of my chest, insomnia. Well I am happy to say that it is over, it was a very uncomplicated surgery. I am 6 days out and feeling AMAZING!

You MUST drink the Protein Shakes and must get used to getting in the required Protein everyday if you want to see good healthy results.

Everything you are feeling is normal. You will be fine and in a year from now so incredibly happy that you took the opportunity to improve your life.

  8. Thank you for your detailed reply. This is what I thought and I sure hope it is true for me. I totally have the expectation that I will need to make good choices and that this surgery is simply a tool. Portions have always been my problem.

Hi there. I was 1 year post-op on Feb 28th. While everyone's experience is unique, I can eat pretty much whatever type of food I want with a few exceptions. Very spicy and/or greasy fried foods don't agree with me and there is a fine line I try not to cross when it comes to sweets. (I have a sugar addiction issue) If I do give in to my addiction and have a very sugary treat it goes down no problem but then I feel like crap. I call it a mini-dumping syndrome. Even at this point I am still learning what works best for me. My capacity has increased slightly to approx 1 cup of food but that also depends on what the food is. I made a beef stew that I could only eat about 1/2 cup probably because of the dense Protein. I can eat quite a lot of salad which isn't a bad thing. It is important to remember that this surgery doesn't cure your food issues. Now I must employ some self control and make good choices with food just like anyone else but the advantage of the surgery is that I can't eat anywhere near as much as I used to, nor do I want to. Sure, sometimes I'll see someone else's plate of nachos and think how much I would love to eat that but then I realize how I would be totally miserable if I tried and not to mention hate myself! LOL! There are a lot of surprising "slider" foods too, mostly simple carbs, like popcorn and potato chips, which don't fill you up like dense Protein.< /p>

  9. I am scheduled for surgery on the 7th of April. I have been scouring the forums for good information and to get myself mentally prepared for all the ins and outs. I have been quite surprised by the number of people who comment that they are around a year out from surgery and that they can eat "anything". Does thing mean that they are "tolerant" to all foods or that you can literally sit down and eat just as you could before surgery?? I get that if you sit there and munch on small amounts of crummy foods all day that you end up consuming a lot of calories. I didn't expect that in only one year, things would be back to pre-surgery.

Can anyone share there experience? Thanks:)

  10. I applied for my passport on the 3rd and had it by the 13th. I paid $30 to have it expedited. I also ordered a passport card, which they do not expedite, and I still got that by the 17th.

Okay ladies... i think,i might have asked this but who is travelling with just their bc and id?

  11. Where is your surgery?

Well I've paid for flights, deposit and insurance and have to do a 2 week low fat diet with no alcohol ready for operation on 8th April, my only worry is that my passport won't be here in time. Its kinda cool though as I can't worry bout op as more worried bout passport.

  12. I'm April 7th with Dr. Ortiz at OCC in Tijuana. I am nervous and excited, too. I hope it's the end of all the crazy ups and downs. I did HCG as well. I figure if I can do 500 calories of only 10 different foods for 40 days, I can do the pre and post op diets!

I am having my sleeve Friday, April 11th in Tijuana with Dr. Cabrera.
I have done A LOT of research and I feel very good about my decision.
I am SO nervous and very excited.

I have been too big and sick for too long & so very tired of losing 20 pounds for 2 months and gaining 27 back... we've all been there......no more HGC, Medifast, Atkins, etc.
I am so thankful we now have this as an option.
I wish us all the very best luck and health!
