  1. I have been at a plateau for some time... I've lost 60# total and have been at the same weight give or take a few lbs for the past yr or so. I was banded Sept 6 2007 and am thinking about tt in the next yr or so if I can get it. I've gotten back on track by helping a friend that had gastric bypass surgery on may 27. I was scolded by a young lady on here in chat this morning who hasn't been banded yet. I feel better after reading your entries here.

  2. I am thinking about having this surgery so this thread has helped me immensely with the thoughts I've been having... I was banded 9/6/07 and started out at 260 my highest weight and now I'm 202 or so; it fluctuates... and I see where one of you has lost 130# and was banded around that time. I haven't lost as much as I could have. I've been really trying these last 2 weeks since I was helping a friend who had gastric bypass at the end of May. Being with her got me back on track and I didn't even realize I was off track. Now I am thinking about getting the tt more seriously than ever. Thanks for this thread.

  3. Some of my NSV's:

    1. I can fit into smaller clothes; down from size 2X to 16 (XL) Walmart and kmart not designer sizes as someone else said...
    2. My face is much thinner. Some people no longer recognize me. That's always fun.
    3. Smaller bra size. yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    4. I can walk til the cows come home. No problem.
    5. I can climb stairs without any difficulty. No resting or break required.
    6. I don't feel like I'm sitting on my steering wheel anymore...
    7. I can cross my legs comforably :) a biggie for me! :(
    8. I love good healthy food and crave it not the fatty stuff... but fresh fruits and vegetables and enjoy them! :)
    9. Wayyyyyy more energy. I can walk in the morning, swim in the afternoon and walk on the beach in the evening. With energy to sit here at 11PM still going...
    10. If a wave knocks me over at the beach I can get up.

  4. i went to kmart today and Walmart on christmas eve

and got some 16 petite pants and XLG tops. they fit now.

today i tried on 14 petites and i could get them over my hips

but they weren't too comfortable around the waist. i need to work on that area more. now i'm loving getting clothes that fit me instead of the 3X, 2X, ETC. it's great to get into some smaller sizes. i have a size 12 bathing suit waiting for me. lol

  5. i'm almost in one~derland!

this morning i was a hair away so i hope to be there soon.

i've had one fill and my 2nd is scheduled for the 8th of january.

i'm walking 3 to 5 miles every day, weather permitting and i love it. i got my hair cut today and people say i don't look like the same woman at all. as a matter of fact, people i know walk right past me not realizing it's me. LOL

    i'm enjoying it.

  6. i love this thread. what a great great question!

i've had many people say well if you have to go on a diet

before surgery you can do it yourself!

    and

well if you can do that why have the surgery?

i haven't heard the rubberband one before. LMAO

i had one lady say well if i could get out of bed i might have

it myself but i take so many meds...

    and

i heard you are going to have to take meds for the rest of your life...

    (like i didn't before)

i have given up trying to explain... i will have the last laugh.

and i am now cuz every week i'm losing more and gaining more energy... it's so obvious it was the right decision. i love being annoying sometimes. LOL

  7. if i was down 50# i'd be in onederland!

cindi i love the way you think and write.

i read what you advised on another thread

and had to look at your posts.

do you think that you are more clear-headed

in your decisions the further into this you've gotten?

i went to a post-op support group the day before yesterday

and one lady said that she has short term memory loss

since surgery... i don't feel as muddled as before.

  8. i'm having my first fill day after tomorrow (friday). i'm exercising my butt off literally. LOL i walk, swim, bike and walk my dogs (not all at the same time). This morning I walked 44 blocks, then after work hubby and i rode our bikes for a half hour. Tomorrow is our swim day; we swim laps for a half hour every other day.

The scales stayed stuck for about 2 weeks but I was getting in clothes I hadn't worn in YEARS. Then this week, the needle began moving to the left again!!!!!

A lady I work with had the surgery a week ago today and she's in the hospital with abdominal pain. It turns out it's gas and she had bread sunday and egg drop Soup yesterday and God knows what all. She's probably using a straw too for all I know. I was on liquids for 10 days then soft food (mushies) for a couple of weeks then moved to regular food... but I still haven't eaten bread or used a straw, or had salads, soda that's carbonated... i let my sprite go flat so i can drink it.

So I told her we went to the same classes and got the same info and you have to do what you're supposed to or it's just not going to work. She's 25 and I'm 51. I guess that's it.

  9. this week has been full of major AHAAAA moment(s) for me!

i hear ya about the scales! the inches are coming off though

and i'm fitting into pants and tops i haven't been able to wear in 3 to 5 yrs! it's amazing to me! one pair i wore yesterday, i tried before surgery and couldn't get them over my hips much less buttoned... now they're BAGGY on me. just incredible.

i've been walking A LOT. i guess it works! this morning i walked a total of 44 blocks. half of that was against the wind on the beach and now i'm energized. LOL

  10. this week, i've been fitting into clothes that i haven't been able to wear in a few yrs. that's been mind blowing. the scales say i've lost 4 or 5 more lbs. in the past couple of weeks, but my clothes say much much more. i've lost a ton of inches!

i've been walking, swimming laps & biking; not all every day but mostly walking every day and swimming every other day and biking on the weekend. My energy level is still thru the roof most days. i try to remember to chew chew chew; sometimes i forget... i try to move when i can move and walk walk walk like Dr. Fontana told me to. I'm parking farther away from stores so i can walk more. lol hubby says i park in the next county. LOL
