Updated September Bandsters!

i do the sf instant breakfast with Unjury in it. it's very satisfying and if i'm hungry later i do the regular oatmeal with splenda and cinnamon. sometimes i add the Unjury to that. protein takes care of the hunger.

A Week From Banding In VA Beach

i haven't updated my ticker in a while. i've purposefully not done it. lol i'm steadily losing about 2# per week now... so i've lost about 5 more since i made the ticker.

You should let your Dr. know about that issue with your throat so you can make sure it's not going to stop you before you go thru all the prerequisites!!!! Something was found on my endoscopy with Dr. Fontana and I had to go to another Dr. for further tests to be sure.

A Week From Banding In VA Beach

i crushed my meds for 2 weeks+ i just started taking them not crushed in the last few days. there are clear liquids, then full liquids, mushies and regular foods... with some limitations... i had the swallow/leak test the day after surgery and it was necessary before being discharged. i still like liquids sometimes... like yesterday and today... i've gotten hooked on soups. the other day i got some sugarfree cider and snapple tea bags. there are so many choices!

Doing well? Day 14!

from what i've read on here the hiccups mean you're full. i have been sleeping on my stomach for over a week now. the soreness only lasted a few days. when it stopped i woke up one morning on my stomach and surprised myself & hubby. i was banded on sept. 6th.

A Week From Banding In VA Beach

after surgery, dr. fontana told me to take chewable vitamin C and chewable vitamins. The rest of my meds I crushed and put in the protein drink (i use unjury my dietician recommended.) I am doing well I think. I feel great and try to walk walk walk. I did have knee problems and feet problems before surgery and that went away right away! unbelievable!!!!! the benefits for me were almost instantaneous. truly amazing to me, hubby and my friends. I had been in pain for a long time and got naproxen from my pcp and lately had been taking advil before surgery. I don't need them now. I can walk walk walk without any pain. It's wonderful. We walked 14 blocks on the beach today then had to walk back home... so i got my walking in. then i had to walk the dogs 4 more blocks. They can't do a long trek.

some of these drs. sound like weenies. i don't understand why he would act that way unless he's just an ass. they want us to be healthy then when we try to get there and ARRIVE they GRILL us?!? they're nuts. no one taught them how to ACT. y'all shoot for the stars and catch a few! yea, you!!!!

September bandsters Progress

i was banded on sept. 6th. no throwing up or anything... gas was bad esp. in shoulders... my dr. said that it reflects up there. i don't understand it but it hurt like hell. that was the most pain... on tuesday i had my first post op appt. and he said i've done great. then thursday i had a itch rash develop around 2 of my 5 tiny taped incisions... i called & they said i was having a reaction to the silver strips and to remove them so i did. i thought if i was going to have a reacton i'd have had it before then but they said everyone's different. i'm allergic to all jewelry and can't even wear jeans cuz of the snap thingy... it breaks me out! so i should have known... i'm on soft foods now. for me, the hardest thing is waiting a half hr to drink.

What About Bananas?

so we're on the banana bandwagon LOL
16. i think lots of men worry that their wives or gf's will leave them once they lose weight and reach their goals... some don't voice it... but some do and it's a realistic worry i think because statistics support it. there has to be issues going on before the WLS though for this to happen too...

What About Bananas?

I Suck!!!

what kept me going is all of the above AND knowing that my dr. said i had to do the liquid preop for 10 days in order to shrink my liver. i didn't want to make it difficult to do and have issues because i didn't do what i was supposed to and it kept me going! day by day... each day i felt better and better too! and i lost 13.5# before surgery date. today i went back for my first postop visit and he told me again how well i did. i've lost 19# since surgery. i'm glad i stuck with it cuz it's made the transition easier after, too!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS! It feels so good!!!! :clap2:
19. i have a whole floor cabinet unit that i've designated bariartic foods... soups, sf instant breakfast, oatmeal, jello, canned tuna, chicken, applesauce, v8 juice, sf hot chocolate, cuz i have to have CHOICES to make this work. i got a head start yesterday. oh and refried beans... and decaf. and splenda.
20. that's why i wouldn't want to do it without insurance. it was worth it to wait.
21. you don't want to pay for all those appts yourself! we had the insurance and the rider in place before i began my prerequisites... it's worth it to wait til you have the coverage if you don't have it at all yet.
22. no onions or celery or any other fibrous foods! (no pineapple or seeds, etc) so the flavor has to come from the food and seasonings... i stayed over one night. the longest part was getting all those prerequisits done... i hate being at the mercy of other people... make the appt. wait a month for an opening; go to the appt. wait for the letter... call to remind them you need the letter... call again... that kind of stuff is nervewracking for me anyway but when you want it done in a timely manner and no one seems to be on the ball... i wanted to scream a few times... we got the morbid obesity rider added to our insurance in jan. so after that i started my appts. and after the appts. were done the request was sent to the insurance co. and they sent their approval then i could get "my date". that was one of the happiest days of my life.
23. it looks like it's working for you! WOW! congratulations!! i went for my first post op appt this morning and i'm on soft foods now but i need some ideas on what all that is... can you enlighten me? fat free refried beans, eggs, fat free ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, and what else?
24. we have the same goal
