Update!!! So I called my insurance today. They reviewed my notes and it states I met the criteria! She said they approved on the 24th but that dept has to note it in the system and they haven't done that yet. Said they may be backed up. At least I know i am approved!!!

Hey everyone! My surgery date is 4/7! I'm very excited and nervous!

Being 41 with a baby that will be 1 in April.
Knees popping when I go upstairs
Feeling like I'm going to pass out if I rush for a train.
A friend of mine had it in May of last year and she has lost 100lbs. and looks so great.
I'm tired of dieting and losing a lil and gaining double.
I want to be active again because I wasn't overweight all my life. The weight has just been coming more and more.
I have to do this for myself my hubby which is planning to have it also and my boys. 11mos 9 and 14 yrs old. I need to show them a healthier lifestyle.

Hi! I am new to the site. I am planning on working with Dr Gerald Cahill at Little Company of Mary in Evergreen Park, IL. I am in the process of waiting for insurance approval. All paperwork was submitted on 02/12/14. I know it hasn't been that long but I'm super anxious to find out. Good Luck to all and I hope everyone is doing well on this cold day!

Just got my date April 15th!!!! After six months of testing and weigh ins, my insurance required six months, THEY are paying so I am happy!!!! I wish you all good luck!!!!

I also had BCBS of IL and I was approve in about 10 days.

Catherine 707- I said if I hadn't heard anything by the end of next week I would call.

I had a terrible time with the insurance but for really weird reasons like their computer system hadn't been updated to show that we had bariatric coverage.... so I wouldn't expect that to be a "normal" experience. Generally I think a 2 - 3 week timeline to be accepted or denied is "normal". If you don't hear back next week call and make sure they have all the pieces they need to make their decisions. There could be one report that didn't make it to your file and they think it is still coming in. Don't be afraid to follow up with the insurance company. I had to call daily to get my issues resolved. Yes they got tired of my phone calls, but it also motivated them to fix the problems too!
