4 day post op - all well but?

everyone is different about how they feel after surgery. I didn't have those feelings...but never really thought about if I felt the band or not...so if you are concerned call your doctors office and ask one of the staff nurses. My nurses are super they are there for any question even if it is silly. If i have read right sliming is sort of vomiting, but its when food gets hanged up and comes back up. I know I have had some bouts like this...but I am seeming to be doing okay. I had my surgery on 1/16/14, have lost 36 lbs so far...and get my 2nd fill on the 10th so am looking forward to it and a little worried as well...so hang in there MarineCorpmom!!! Take care-God bless.

    First fill

lapper32014, I think some of us have had bad days...but as long as you don't make a habit of eating too much sugar you will be fine...get back on the bandster wagon and continue on. I do like sugar free popsicles and pudding...try to get sweets like them when I feel the urge to have something sweet. hang in there and don't beat yourself up too much. Have a great day!!!

    9 weeks after

Both of you are doing wonderful!!! I only am about 2 1/2 months out and have lost 36 lbs, so am happy about that too!!! Great job ladies-keep up the good work!!!
  4. Congrats on quitting smoking...I have been quit now for 22 yrs and used the Quit smoking lil computer that was on an infomerical years ago...worked wonders. But I am so proud of you doing both the quit smoking and having the lap band...You R My Hero!!! I love hearing quit smoking stories (Congrats to you too Chrissy10)!!!
  5. Kandy12 I lost a few lbs here and there before my first fill and have lost a few after that, but so know I am not anywhere near my Green Zone...I have only had 2 cc's put it and someday I am so hungry and other days I have to force myself to eat. the only way I know there is a band inside is when I get stuck. so I was told to up my protein and make sure I was drinking at least 64 oz a day of fluids. call your doctor's office and maybe they can offer you some help. I'll keep you in my prayers okay?
  6. Ms. Vickie and jamilyne I am so sorry that your providers are not giving you all the help you need...I know I was alittle upset too...but my surgeon doesnt send his patients to the nutritionist until their second fill, so I have listened and asked his staff (2 of which have had Lap band surgery) a lot of questions. They might not like it, but if I have a question they will be called, as you both have mentioned this doesn't come cheap. So like that you try to get assistance from your main providers, but I would actually force the hands of those surgeons to get assistance. I know every doctor is different, but mine is taking me up slowly with my fills...he is great!!! It also teaches me that I need to be really aware of what I am putting in my mouth!!! I can only hope that you might get alittle more forceful and ask for some help...this is a great place to vent, sound off, ask for advice and sympathy...but you will need to force the issue of getting treated like a patient not some forgotten step-child. Hang in there ladies, you both are doing good!!! But I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that your providers start acting like PROVIDERS and not rip off artists!!!

    I need some guidance. x

sounds like you're doing great...I think you need to increase your fluid intake though, at least my physician wants us to drink at least 64 oz of fluids a day, can you try to drink more? Are you exercising? I do know since I wasn't getting enough of protein in a day I was told to drink protein shakes or eat a protein bar, but to make sure I was drinking plenty of fluids too. Just an idea, Congrats on your 35 lbs and your upcoming wedding...you look great!!
  8. jfc I was nauseated too for 5 days, they found I had thrush and had to take some liquid med (that was horrible) to get rid of it, check your tongue if its white you need to contact your doctor's office. Hope that isn't it, but so know how you feel-I felt the same way!!!
  9. parisshel I am so sorry you are having difficulities right now...hoping things get better for you soon. Could you please tell me though what happened with the anti-inflamatories, what did they do to you?

    Banders Exercise

I work at a very large hospital and walked all over the place for meetings and other everyday things I have to do. I haven't been able to do much exercising yet, but get to see my primary physician in a few weeks and hoping he will write me a script to go to a wellness center that is located near my home. Since I have had knee replacements and have this weight on it is really hard for me to do anything that has impact on my legs. Maybe this way being followed by a physical therapist he/she will be able to get me doing something that will help me with losing more weight and something that won't allow me to injury myself like I have in the past. Here's Hoping!!! I just Loved the comment from Catfish87 made!!!
  11. Yes I agree with yoli2014, you need to get in touch with your doctor. Praying you will feel better soon.
  12. Personally Emaleth, I would take the advice of your nutrionist. I know some insurances are very picky on who they approve, luckily mine wasn't so strict. But having to wait 6 months would of made me crazy. So you need to weigh whether or not you will be able to keep off the weight you have lost already without fears of gaining it back. I was on such a yo-yo lifestyle this lap-band surgery was the only thing that I could of done to help me move forward and stay moving in that right direction. So dearheart search deep inside of yourself and make sure this is what you want...it is a different way to live. I hope you make the right decision for yourself. No matter what you chose that is fine...but if you choose to move forward with surgery, know there are a lot of us here to help you through the good and bad times. Take care and God bless

    Advice to be supportive?

I haven't had the gastric sleeve, but I think that it is so honorable of you to be supportive of her. She will just need to have a good friend that is there for her ups and downs...and tell her to use this page to get answers or suggestions from fellow wls members. It is just nice to know you are there for her...that is just one of the most nice things I've heard in along time. Wish I had such a support person.
  14. mca98 you will be sore and have some gas pains, sipping your liquids and walking (just get up and move alittle bit-not on a long walk-LOL) will help so everyone tells me on here. I didn't have much gas pains, mine were from my hernia being repaired at the same time. At first you will find it hard to drink as much as you are suppose to, but that will come with time. Once you get to the mushy food stage you'll be saying I'll be happy when I can eat real foods again...LOLRH!!! You will do just fine...hang in there and use us for your support...let me know if you need any info!!! Take care and best wishes and don't be nervous (although that is normal too)...wasn't sure how I felt the morning of my surgery, was just ready to get on with my life. God bless sweetie!!!

    2 Days Banded

Hi there, I have so many questions for you! I am currently on stage 2 of the post-op diet so I am still on liquids. Did you ever feel nauseas once you started eating food? How did it feel after your first fill? Does the gas and shoulder pain ever go away? When did you start exercising and how much? Congrats on 8 weeks! I am looking forward to having real food soon! Hi there LiveLifeNow...I have to be honest about exercise, since that is the bad thing I need to talk about, I have knee replacements that cause me some discomfort, so until I get alittle more of this weight off I am doing mostly walking. I work in a really big hospital so I walk alot back and forth. So sorry that I can't be of help there for you yet. As for nausea...I had trouble with that for days after surgery...don't handle anesthesia well...but never had it once I ate, except when I ate too fast and didn't chew right, so please take my advice here and eat slowly and chew really well. I still don't feel different after my first fill, but they keep telling me that is different for everyone. 2 cc's just apparently isn't enough for me...so have to wait between my fills 6 weeks. I never had the pain or pressure into my shoulder...but have heard on here from others that it does subside soon, hang in there sweetie, they say getting up and walking helps...so try that okay? I was so ready for real food too, and I went from liquids to soft food (couldn't handle my food pureed-made me gag) LOL!!! so just ate things really soft, so I am going to wish you well with all the newness you are about to face. Please know I am on here if you need me okay? Best wishes and prayers!!!
