  1. Hi everyone I was sleeved on 3/21. So far I am down about 52.8 lbs. I don't eat a lot of things still, every morning I have a yoghurt, lunch I try to have Soup, dinner I try to eat Protein. Though honestly I can only do a few bites here and there. I drink lots of Gatorade. I do try to work out every day at least 30 minutes. I am only back up to running about 1.5 miles. I wish I could eat a lot more foods. I have learned sugar is not my friend, roast beef makes me sick automatically, and being in the desert I love cold things, so sugar free popsicles are constant. Dr said I can try things but I am so afraid of getting sick. I have gotten sick 3 times in the last almost 4 months and it has not been fun! I would love to hear more of what people eat.

    Good luck

  2. I say that I am working with a nutritionist and working out hard at the gym, my colleagues don't need to know. I don't eat around anyone at work, I leave the building for lunch. When it comes to work gatherings I get Soup, veggie Soup. When they ask what I am doing I tell them I have cut out all carbs, sugar, fast food, and sodas...lots of Protein. By then people are like hell no and they walk away. My gym friends I tell them I am running outside and working out at home. I still do go to the gym for weight work outs. I am not comfortable yet telling people, only a handful of people know the truth and even with that sometimes I feel ashamed.

Good luck and hope everything works out for you.

On 7/21 it will be 4 months, I am currently down 52.8 lbs and went from a size 18 to 10 :) I am blessed, never thought I could ever see a size 10.

  3. Its not always about speed but distance. Believe it or not while running lots and lots of half marathons I am always checking people out besides me and sometimes it is people MUCH older that pass me by, but guess what I am out there, I am running and completing the race before the last person out there along with the vehicle that pushes you/me along. So with that said it doesn't matter how fast you go, it is all about just getting out there, enjoying the fresh air, your surroundings and making yourself happy.

Enjoy the run, sometimes people pay a lot of money and never enjoy it...

    good luck!

  4. What a week. I had a business trip and it seems everything included food! Meet and greet..food...breakfast food, meeting...food... meetings... lunch...meetings...dinner... food food food...I tried to do the best that I could at 6weeks post op, but hated that everyone kept looking at me as to why I would not eat or could only eat a couple of bits of food... and why I wouldn't drink.... Help, I have not disclosed my surgery to co workers.

I have another business trip in 1 month... any tips from people? I tried the move things around on my plate, but when it is buffet, its hard!

  5. Hi everyone,

Today I am exactly 14 days post op and tomorrow I an begin the pureed diet per my DR, sugar free- no concentrate sweets, less broth, Protein, thinking more baby food.

Can anyone give me suggestions because currently I am living it seems on two yoghurts and onion Soup broth. Periodically popsicles.

What are you doing at day 15-21...longing for suggestions.

I am down 18.8 lbs total but have stalled this week. Not worried about the weight really, I know with time it will come off.

Suggestions please.... I'm longing for like mashed potatoes, Soup with substance.

  6. This will indeed pass, I was in MX when I did my surgery and yes everything sounds gross to drink. Only thing I liked was popsicles the first week, then the second week onion Soup minus the onions...I was and still am gassy, so I take Pepcid ac chewable, they help! My Dr said I may have feelings of perhaps regret but that is natural in the first 30 days. It will get better, you will need to take it slow, but today I am 2 weeks post op exactly and back to work and doing well. I am down exactly 18.8 lb total. I cant wait to eat a little bit of " human" food again. Good luck, things get better!

  7. Carmen, not sure where to begin. I used Dr Fernando Garcia. Two friends previously used him and so I felt comfortable based on reviews to use him as well. We made it to TJ and no problems. Our ride was on time, we got settle into the hotel the first night. I got a call with the time of when I needed to be at the clinic "hospital". They did blood work, EKG, xrays and made sure I was ready to go.4 doctors came in and talked to me. I went in had my surgery and woke up in my room. I walked around that same day, not as much as I should have. I was sick from the pain medicine, it was making me nauseated. I stayed two days then went back to the hotel for another two days. The doctor came to the hotel to check on me and I came home Tuesday. So Thu-Tue in TJ. All is ok so far, my tummy talks to me all the time. I have heartburn and I am not a big drinker, so drinking has been hard, but today I found popsicles to be amazing! Life saver!! Good luck if you have not yet completed the surgery, it isn't as bad as it seems, but honestly, TJ still sucks as a city, it is safe but still not like home. Oh and btw dreams are crazy after surgery. My dreams were wild. I slept ok, but nothing compares to your own bed. Let me know if I can help with any other questions ..... oh and the dr said it is ok to be sad up to 30 days after, this is natural. I look forward to eating like mash potatoes or soft foods.

  8. My surgery date was 3/21 and the one thing that is killing me most is heartburn... Holy Batman it is killer... My Dr gave me meds but I am trying not to use them, I guess I should. I use the meds and when not able to take any meds, I take GasX tongue strips. Anyone else with the same issues/problems? Solutions or anything that helps?

  9. The doctor told me that the first 30 days can cause sadness and emotional distress. It is normal. I got sleeved on Friday 3/21 and it has been a rough few days. I had to go back to the hospital because my drain hole did not close therefor I had to get a few stitches. Today I get out my staples and am scared. I think this is all part of the new "you". Everyday it should get better. My daughter is with me as well and she has been my rock. Keep leaning on her and together you will get through this! Take care, take it slow, and know in time everything will be better.

  10. Got sleeved Friday and so far so good. Friday was pretty hard but that was because of being nauseated. Today I am in a little bit of a heart burn/gas pain but the gas x helps. What I thought was gas turned out to be unfortunately tar like #2. (tmi) I know but its the truth. I hope everyday things get better. Now to rest, relax, and start to get back to being me. Good luck everyone...
