  1. I just started to work out after 3 months of my surgery and I have been just using the eliptical and the treadmill. And I do a lot of ab exercises to build my core. I have not started with weights yet and thinking of buying some so I can do the arms at home. I like kettle bells. I think getting a trainer is good id you can afford it. They know which exercises work best for certain parts of your body. Here in my area sessions are like 75-100 an hr. Good luck!

  2. I also bought senna tea which also helps with Constipation. Iron can also make you constipated so my surgeon/nut said to use slow fe or gentle iron. I bought gentle iron from Amazon. And I also have prunes to eat at home and I for Fiber gummies. Just want to be careful with fiber cause you don't want too much cause it can bulk up and then fecal impaction happens. So I just take 2 tsps of benefiber in my Breakfast in the morning and I have stool softener in the morning. Then in the evening I have flax seed oil with the gummie fiber in the evening. And of course have loads of Water through out the day. I am going to try out the senna this week cause I just got it last night.

  3. I am 3 months out and I am struggling with Constipation. I even ended up in the ER this past week due to fecal impaction. They gave me miralax to drink which helped me go. My surgeon/nut said that on daily basis I should have stool softener, benefiber and flax seed oil and drink lots of Water. So in the last 4 days thankfully I have not had issues. I have miralax, mom and some laxatives around if I need but am hoping with the regiment the doc said to follow will work. Hope this works for you!

  4. I also tried to get approval with my insurance in 2011-2012 and was denied and then I got another job in 2013 and started the paper work again and got approved. So the only thing would be to switch jobs. I know you don't want to do that and if you have appealed and nothing happened, then the only option is to pay out of pocket. What else can you do?

  5. I would like to see what other people are eating....I am 3 months out from having gastric bypass. Can someone please add me on my fitness pal? Or can you please give me your email address and I can add you? Please help! My email address is st1614@nyu.edu

    Thank you!

  6. Post you request under Basics for Gastic Bypass. You will get many more responses. The site used to be just pre and post surgery support. Many more folks are still active there and many of us use MFP. Carol

Thnks so much carol. Btw your dairy is excellent. Going to start following some of your meals.

  7. I eat string cheese, yogurt (i have that for Breakfast and also for a snack when needed), cottage cheese, nuts, sugar free pudding, tbsp Peanut Butter, tbsp low fat cream cheese, laughing cow cheese...for some reason, cheese goes down easily for me. I have started to eat blueberries and have had watermelon in the past which I love. Apples I struggle with but I peel the skin off and then eat them. I cant seem to eat salads..it hurts a lot. I am 12 weeks out...3 months out. So I am still struggling with food. Oh I also have Protein shakes for my snack too. I also eat 5-6 small portions through out the date. Cant seem to eat denser meals.

  8. I hear this a lot...oh the surgery you did, I know a lot of people who have done the surgery and gained the weight all back. So it doesn't work...I am thinking are you serious? And I would ask what kind of surgery did they do and what do they eat, oh I don't know but they gained it all back. So annoying to hear that!

  9. Hello - I am sure this topic has been posted a million times and I have tried searching and too many results come up and honestly, I dont have time to dig in...

I had my gastric bypass 2.5 months back and I just started to use MFP. I want to add some people on there who have also had my surgery so I can follow them and see what they eat..

please someone help me. You can add me also...my email address is st1614@nyu.edu

Thanks so much for your help and once again sorry to have bothered you! I

  10. I agree with the previous message...let your pouch guide you. I eat a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, mozzarella string cheese, seafood like tuna or some shrimp, Soups, Protein Shakes, ground chicken or turkey, beans...believe it or not I am still eating the same stuff and I am almost 3 months out. I still can't have chicken unless it's minced. I also have mixed nuts and cottage cheese and sashmi. I also tend to have some low fat low sugar ice cream to give myself a treat. So far I have dropped 43 pounds. Good luck!

  11. After my RNY, I eat the following;

Breakfast: Chobani yogurt blended flavours...no fruit of the bottom stuff. It doesn't suit my stomach. Sometimes I will have a Protein shake instead of yogurt.

Lunch: Protein Shake or I bring small chicken meatballs with mozzarella cheese with some Tomato sauce, or mozzarella cheese with tomato and balsamic vinegar.

Dinner: small meatballs with sauce, or I will have sashimi or I will bake fish at home, or I will have soy milk with Special K Protein Cereal or egg substitute with cheese.

To snack I have some nuts, string cheese or cottage cheese or teaspoon of Peanut Butter. Also to treat myself I got some weight watchers ice cream sandwiches which is a snack size. One does the trick for me.

I can only eat meats that are ground or minced. And veggies and fruits are still tough for me. So far I have lost 41 lbs. I had my surgery march 31.

  13. I started my process 2.5 yrs back and I was already diagnosed with co-morbidities myself but I was afraid I would still not get it approved cause I was not 40 bmi. I was like 5-8 pounds away from it so my doc said to gain weight. Which I did but still my insurance at that time denied me cause I was in nursing school and had NYU student health insurance. So I said to myself that once I start working I will start the process again. So last Nov/dec I started the process but this time I had already 40 bmi, a ton of co-morbidities and an excellent surgeon and insurance that got me my surgery. My insurance requirement was 4 visits with the surgeon and then approval. And thankfully it all worked out and had my surgery on march 31. The point is that if you need to gain the weight then just do it so you can get what you want. It will all work out in time...I really mean the time part.'
