For the love of sweet Jesus.....

I finally see the nastiness in people right here...I do not find this thread to be funny but instead find it degrading, rude and obnoxious. Now I know people are nasty no matter what shape and form they are in and here I thought wow this is a great place to get support and meet people that are like minded. I guess I am wrong...and I am glad I don't know anyone here in person and nor would I care to. I rather surround myself with people that are nice and kind. Just my 2 cents!

    What did you eat today?

Today I had a boiled egg in the morning, afternoon I had 4oz ground turkey which I cooked yesterday in taco seasoning and with the turkey I had some cheese. Had some nuts for a snack, and for dinner 4 oz chickpeas with some Onions and tomatoes. And been drinking water through out the day. So far I have had 48oz of water.

  6. It doesn't bother me at all...matter of fact it makes me think what a bunch of illiterate people who have no clue what we go through or will be going through after the surgery. And I do take the time to teach them cause the more I teach people the more they open up to it and understand what we are going through and those people can pass on the info to others. So that's how I look at it...like yesterday I was telling my hair dresser that I did the gastric bypass and she said oh yeah be careful so you don't gain it back and I said, listen I can't even eat and this is a tool to help me reach my goals. And she thought I had lypo suction and lots do and I tell them, no this is not lypo suction, I did the gastric bypass and this is what we have to do etc etc etc...I will explain to people until I get blue in my face cause it's better to tell then not say anything. I am proud of myself.

    Slow weight loss

Think of it this way...you are losing weight and you will continue to lose weight instead of losing no weight. The question is are you meeting your protein intake? Are you eating what your surgeon as planned for you? Are you taking your vitamins? Since my 10 day preop diet and having my surgery on march 31, which in total is almost 7.5 weeks, I have lost 34 pounds which is about 3-4 pounds a week on an average. I don't fret about it but make sure I stick to my diet. Also keep in mind everyone loses weight differently. So hang in there...you will get to your goal. Best of luck!

For the love of sweet Jesus.....

Live and let live...if there is something that bothers you on this site, best to just ignore and move on. I also don't get bothered by the repetitive stuff on this site. It's a great site, resourceful and lots of people are nice here...so best to keep it that way.

    In process of gastric bypass

Yaya - I had my psych eval one time and we sat and spoke for an hr or so and he just wanted to see how I deal with food, my habits etc...so I only had one session and was about to move on. I went to the psychiatrist that Dr. George Fielding recommended and it was done pretty quickly. I have not heard of Dr. Bessler but I am pretty sure he is good and he is at NYP Columbia...let me know if you need any help.

    Do people treat you different?

I am 5 feet, was 210 and now 176. When I lose more weight, I think I would also see people turn heads..so far it has not happened as yet. As far as being nice, I am nice to people but I dont go out of my way like I used to and its not cause of my weight or anything, its because I just prefer being more reserved and keep it to myself type. Just recently I was turned down by a man because of my weight where he didnt even give a chance to know me...yes I was hurt but what can you do...he is not the right one. I will let you know how people treat me once I drop more weight...
  11. Dr. George Fielding is awesome...He was my surgeon for gastric bypass and when I was in the hospital for 4 days, he would come and visit me every day and then his team would come every day...very very impressed by him. Even before my surgery, he met with my brother and answered all his questions. I recommend him to everyone out there..he truly is a great guy!

Yaya who is your surgeon? My surgeon Dr. George Fielding has also appeared on Dr. Oz many many times. He also did surgery on NJ Governor Christie.

    What did you eat today?

Don't do that to yourself....drink as much water as you can. I carry a bottle of water every where I go no matter where I am going...water is super important for the diet. You can do it.

    Fitbit

I heard from a friend that fitbit is coming out with a new product sometime in the summer and also other companies like LG is also coming out with a fitbit flex look alike so you can wear it on your wrist. I want the fitbit flex but thinking of waiting it out and buy a cheap pedometer.
  17. You had your surgery this past April 11? 1200 calories is what your doc has said to eat a day? I had a gastric bypass on march 31 2014 and I can only eat 500 calories a day or that's all what I am able to consume. Def check with your doc

    Dating after Weight Loss Surgery

I dont deny a single thing you have said but in reality, men prefer slimmer women. Slim doesnt means bones either where I would have said skinny or a stick, slim can be gracefully thin or slender. As far as loving myself, I do love myself and I did this surgery for health reasons and also I dont want to be rejected cause of my looks and people do reject people for weight reasons. No matter how much you think its true or not, but its reality. After losing some weight due to my surgery, I am loving myself even more...if we didnt love ourselves, we wouldnt go through this surgery. I would have sat on my ass and not done anything about it....

    Dating after Weight Loss Surgery

Men are men, no matter what country or race they are, they want their women to be slim and not be over weight. Its like this especially in the Indian culture. If I was thin like a decade ago or even in my early 20s, I would have been married by now...sad but true, appearance is the first thing people see no matter where you go even if its for dating, marriage or work.

    2 months progress

Just how others have mentioned here, you are doing great and you look really good. I had my surgery on March 31st, started my 10 day liquid diet before that and so far I have lost 34 pounds and thats also an average of 4 pounds a week. I hope to not stall but if I feel that its going in that direction, then I am going to have to remind myself to keep going and be patient. Our bodies are changing and we have to continue eating our Proteins..so keep up the good work! you are doing awesome...

    What did you eat today?

I think every surgery and every surgeon is different and has different guidelines on what to do before and after the surgery. So best to stick with what the doc says. After my gastric bypass, I was on a 10 day liquid diet (only liquids, including Protein shakes), then the second 10 days were all mushy foods, pureed foods which would include mashed potatoes, unsweetened apple sauce, eggs, hot cereals, blended Soups, Protein shakes, tuna, puddings etc etc..and then after that, it would be soft foods firm tofu, seafood, thin sliced deli meeds, toast, crackers, Beans, peas and well cooked Pasta but must meet 75grams of Proteins. Then 2 months down the road I would be able to more of soft foods. But its also been said that you can introduce foods to your stomach and see how you feel. But to be honest, just meeting the goals of protein is tough and you can only eat small amounts of food so best to get all the good stuff in vs. bad foods like sweets and carbs. Today, first thing I had for food was a thin sliced deli meat with Dijion mustard, then had a bite of my mom's cabbage dish, had a tablespoon of Peanut Butter, later in the day had 1/2 an apple with another tablespoon of peanut butter, then for dinner, we had some hard shell tacos and the meat we used was turkey. I had one hard shell taco with turkey and cheese which took me a while to eat. And then for snacking after dinner, I had some almonds and I am full. Am drinking lots of Water through out the day and before I sleep...

what foods YOU cannot eat anymore?

I have a major sweet tooth but after my surgery, I have not been craving sweets anymore. Matter of fact now I prefer salty things...I never use to like Peanut Butter but now I do so I have that with my 1/2 apple or 1/2 banana. I have tried a few bites of ice cream but its too sweet for me so I prefer not having it. But keep in mind i am 6 weeks out so I am still in very early stages of everything. If you want to satisfy your craving, best to have something that will satisfy it and its good for you...if you want something sweet, have something that is sugar free. Or if you want something salty, have some almonds...I think the people who have had this surgery long time back and shed more light on this topic...

    Endoscopy

In my case everything had to be done within 1-3 months before my surgery. My insurance required that I am on a monitored diet with my surgeon 4 months before my surgery. So I started to see my surgeon in dec 2013, psych, endoscopy and pcp clearance in feb 2014 and my surgery was march 31. You can ask your surgeon what he thinks you should do. Every insurance has their own requirements. I would say best to have everything done 1-2 months before you plan on having your surgery. Hope this helps!
  24. All of you guys are on the same page...I should just eat the filling and skip the taco shell all together and have my mom have it.
  25. Even the hard ones are difficult to eat? I was thinking of making turkey tacos next week and give it a shot with the hard ones...I dont think I can eat more than one..even one is a lot...it will be 7 weeks next week...shall I skip the taco and just eat the ground turkey?
