  1. Sassy probiotics are super important for those of us who have messed with our guts. There are studies apon studies saying they’re good for us. I personally use the ones from plexus in conjunction with their biocleanse because the biocleanse helps things move along and is safe long term while laxatives aren’t. So my biocleanse keeps it clear and my probiotic keeps it healthy. I can get you more info on that if you want :)

I think it’s very important to have your meal time last for 20 minutes and chew, chew chew. Allow 30 seconds between swallowing. You want to be very mindful to stop eating when your hunger is satisfied not when you feel full. It is my understanding from my dietician this is the goal. Your brain also needs to have time to register you are full.

I’m getting better at this, but I’m also trying to break a habit I’ve had since I was little—I grew up stealing food or going hungry so it was eat as fast as possible, I never got past that. I’m trying every day.

  3. https://youtu.be/2AEO0I5VrQI this was the class. I made it 25 minutes through the video. Tomorrow I’m going to try again. My goal is to make it through the whole thing by Tuesday next week. I also put a little star on my calendar to show that I did a work out today and wrote hiit next to it. I subscribed to their channel too.

In December my husbands backpay from VA disability should kick in and he should be bumped from 70% to 100% according to the lawyer which puts us at enough income for me to quit my job and us be okay. So at that point I’ll be doing just that .

I also watched this video today: https://youtu.be/5JxLpUSVix4 I’m going to look into net carbs, I know Ellie mentioned it before but I do better when carbs aren’t a thing. I just need to be able to find meals I can afford that keep me satisfied.

I’ll let y’all know in a week how I’m doing on this (hopefully it’ll cause some melting again like the first couple weeks. If that’s the case I’ll be celebrating weighing less than hubby 😍😍😍)

  4. So I finally got off my butt and did my first workout since the surgery. I’ve been avoiding it idk why— probably because I’m afraid to work out in front of people. So my husband cleared an area for me in my bedroom and got me 5 lb weights. I found a free beginner hiit class on YouTube and I made it though 2/3rds of it. It was hard. But I’m proud of me.

  5. This is my current venture for the next few weeks. I’ll be getting the tiny avocados at Trader Joe’s, and making the salmon separately, adding in some protien powder to boost the content.

T look into whole 30, and Keto recipes I’m not a fan of Keto but it’s low carb. Paleo is also good. Whole 30 doesn’t allow sugar. They’re about taking control of food. We didn’t get here by being in control. I didn’t do this surgery to hate food. I love it, I just need to be in control.

  6. Just thought I’d share my splurge this week. Went grocery shopping and I picked up green Beans and mushrooms 😍 I cut them up and sauté them in a pan with Kerry gold saltless butter, and a little olive oil. I seasoned with salt, pepper, and Mccormick steak seasoning. This was my favorite thing when I was pregnant :) (Ellie if you make ghee out of the butter it’s vegan! ) I like my green beans crispy still. So yummy!!

Question- maybe I should already, know this answer- if so refresh my over-wheled mind. How long to you have to crush medications? I am now 3 weeks and 3 days post-surgery😷 yeah I know___ YEAH ME! Sure worked long ( over 3 years) and hard with roadblocks, nay- sayers, and a sneering surgeon and staff trying kill things before my plans finall achieved. This RnY, my last and I hope ultimate Bariatric Success!

So penulimate query( gosh I love Adult,Language!) was I crushing because of size, I was told pills larger than M&M(smartie size- my Commonwealth Cousins), difficulty swallowing- that was never a problem! I could bolt foods down great abandon in unlimited foods days or is it my egg-sized pouch unable to digest and pass things along to my "jj" small intestine unless pulverized? I do recall the average stoma size is maybe dime-sized ?

Now as I heal I have developed crabby crappy urine -although I am struggling toward Fluid nirvana- color is still warmish and odor is strong. Tried to consult PCP, tried to consult my own urologist, transportation fouled up, both went on their weekend holiday without seeing me. So I consulted my Community Hospital ED, always an iffy choice but surely THIS is not beyond their experiences, after all, even non-bari- people get UTI. Did not want to be driven 50 miles to OSU and HAVE the people say " does your local hospital NOT know how to handle URINE?" That would be mortifying.

So this AM after last Lovenox shot, Hail and Farewell, I have laid out. & planned my Zofran, teeny pill size and Ditropan, also teeny size, then to add to group Bactrim, a medium- sized white lozenge . Crush, no crush, what is the Correct answer? Frustr8 knows she can swallow Big Bad Bactrim down, but can Precious Pouch, the Queen of this Post- SURGERY adventure, handle this medication? Have a horrid mental. image of it sitting sideways straddling my stoma, on the other side I feel like I'm "grinding" my life away!. Any Veteran of The Weight Wars want to,weigh in?😭
I’ve never crushed mine. Aside from my multi I just swallow whole. The multi I break in 2. Been doing that since day 3 when I went back o. My meds.

Good for you to give it a go and not have eaten the whole thing!! Remember when.....I really miss pizza. Has anybody tried making one with the cauliflower crust?

It’s on my list of things to try. But for now I have a bread maker and it’s easy to just throw the ingredients for the dough in and then it to the correct setting. Then I pull it out, split it into 2 dough balls and let them rise for another hour or so, next time I’ll double that. And then because my career is in the pizza industry I happen to be fantastic at tossing pizza up in the air and spinning it—so I impress the kids before I make a decent looking pizza. I’m still trying to get the perfect dough recipe though lol. I might just buy a cauliflower crust from Trader Joe’s next time lol. :)

  9. I made pizza for dinner. 2 slices according to my fitness pal only have 300 calories, and 18 grams of protien. It’s got 40 grams of carbs but the whole thing was made from scratch (dough, sauce and all) I ate 1 slice. Tomorrow is payday so I get to go stock up on things that are better for me again since I’m out. I didn’t love my pizza... it was just bleh... some of the foods I used to love are bleh now.

Sorry for the delay in response, I used to be able to hit quote on cell phone and just respond and now I can't and I must log in each time then thread through the messages, ugh...anywho, back to your question...

So it's MUCH easier than I thought! 1 Scoop Gen Pro in Green smoothie or coffee = 30g protein! If you use Soy Milk in your smoothie that's an EXTRA 7g Protein so 37g just in the morning.

Then I like me a solid protien suppliment. So like a PureProtein Silky chocolate Bar (which totally feels like a desert treat to me) is another 21g Protein so that right there is 58g protein. I usually keep it in my purse when going out or shopping and in stressful situations (such as the British festival in Central Market yesterday where they had my favorite chocolate covered Shortbread Cookies available to SAMPLE!!!), I take a bite to take the edge of.f

Add a NeuroProtein Water for 10 more G and you are at 68 g for the day!

Now if you do even 1 shake like Premier, you are at 98g protein!!!

but I don't always go that route. I will do humus or a Crunchy Protein Chip snack for extra 10 - 15 g protein

Sometimes for snack I'll have 5 Whole Wheat Crackers and 5 Cashews = A couple more protein grams here and there.

Then there are protein substitutes, like Meatless Meatballs, Meatless Crabcake balls, etc that are packed with protein and are a quick cook!

So most days I wind up with well over 80g protein! Like they other day I had 106 protein, 58 Net Carbs and 820calories, with 23 sugars (but all the good kind). The Fiber in the fruits and veggies helps drive down my Net Carbs, cuz you can subtract those back out. But the most important part of this is that I feel like I'm nourishing my body. I mean yeah the docs would like you to be All Protein, NO Sugar etc etc, but is that sustainable? Is that good for you? And also, Megan, you are loosing weight wonderfully!!! OMG you are doing great, so I would not stress about the exact mix. For me, it's less about loosing weight and more about GAINING health and vitality, and loving and respecting my body enough to nourish and take care of it. The weight loss is a natural byproduct of that. Since yesterday another pound rolled off, but not through food punishment and starvation and a negative relationship with food that has plagued me all my life, but a vibrant positive attitude towards eating coupled with enjoying every morsel of what I eat. I am using Baritastic to track stuff...I don't particularly like tracking. You're a slave to the scale, a slave to the app (I know it's good for accountability etc), but once I am cleared for all foods...which, at this point, I'm at 5 weeks and like I said, I've kinda been doing my own research and carving out a healthy plan I can adhere to, the idea will be to ditch the incessant tracking, weighing, stressing and obsessing, and learn to listen to my body with love and compassion. I know it sounds corny, BUT...this being my 3rd rodeo and all, I know that at first, you are all into the numbers, the digits, the macro nutrients etc etc, and you can really burn yourself out on that and become sick of it, which can derail you and lead to weight gain in the end. No Bueno! A good plan is one you can stick to long term. I also know I don't want to wind up deficient and sick. Like after my Sleeve, I wounded up so Anemic and raggedy and tired, I was going in every 3 weeks for Iron infusions. Sitting there with my Elective mess along with other patients who where there for bonafide serious stuff like Chemo. I was feeling, unhealthy and demoralized. Like I had gotten the whole food thing wrong. A horrible place to be mentally and physically. Anywho, hope this helps. It's just my advice, and of course I'm not a doctor or anything. BUT I also know that I cannot fully trust a doctor or surgeon etc with MY health. The medical system is too disjointed! I cannot trust my OB completely, to them I'm just a Uterus, I cannot trust my Bariatric Surgeon competly, to him my success lies in the scale numbrer and my health is so much more than a number etc.

So all this to say I am a firm believer in you being an informed patient that listens not only to others but to what your body is trying to tell you as well :)

I actually just figured out how to quote actually lol. Thank you for all that info!! My last question is about the genpro. You have a huge tub. Where did you get it? My local store sells a tiny little bag for 30 dollars. 😩
