Thanks to both of you! I haven't even been getting in 24 oz of Fluid, let alone anywhere near the Protein requirements. However, between yesterday and today, I feel much better and can hold down more liquids. For Breakfast I had 2 oz of vanilla greek yogurt mixed with 1/2 scoop of Protein Powder. For lunch, I had a couple of ounces of cream of chicken Soup with 1/2 scoop of unflavored protein powder. I'm not 'hungry', but I know I need the nutrients from food and to get my protein in. While I'm not technically hungry, when I eat, I don't get the 'full' feeling. Is something wrong?

I'm post-op week one as of today. So, I know I need to get my Protein in, at least 70 grams per day. So my question, if I don't physically feel hungry, do I still need to eat (even if it is liquids), just to get my protein in?

On my diet at five weeks out, toast, crackers, Pasta, and cereal are on my list. Maybe it's six weeks but I know it's there.

Well I got really scared tonight and thought I'd find out about this tolerance thing. First, while I was warming my sons chicken noodle Soup, I sipped the liquid and accidentally got a pice of chicken. I ran to the sink and started spitting and wiping my tongue with a towel. Then about fifteen minutes later, I fixed my daughter a bacon and sausage omelette and out of habit licked my fingers after crumbling her sausage. I just knew the grease was going to kill me right there! Miraculously, I'm fine. :-)

for the rest of your life you will need to eat slow.
Eating slow won't be much of a problem for me, or at least I don't think so anyway. I'm always the last one finished at the dinner table. I just couldn't believe she can only eat half if a scrambled egg. Glad to know she is only 3 weeks out though!

Maybe you can go to one of the ABC stores or Walgreens on the strip. They have some staple groceries and you may luck out.

So how fast will this intolerance typically occur?
-
It has been hard to eat slow enough to realize I'm at my limit. It only takes one extra bite to send me to vomit mode. I'm getting better at it. When they say eat slow they mean EAT SLOW!!! Mind you when I say I have eaten too much I'm talking half of one scrambled egg!!!
Oh my. When did you have surgery?

I keep hearing the word 'tolerate' when talking about foods. When I use the word, as in "I can't tolerate Protein shots", it means I hate them, and they are disgusting, and I'd rather eat dirt. But what does it mean in the sense everyone else here is using it?

I have swallowed my pills from day 2. However, I can't take all 4 in the same gulp like I used to. Some of mine are small and I can take 2 of them together. I have to space them out through the day.

My NP told me about these this week but I figured if advance to the nest stage or shakes before they came in. Do you think I should go ahead and order anyway to have on hand? Tomorrow starts stage 2.

I am 21 days out !!! Went to GNC for Protein Shake and the man was very helpfull!! He said u want to loose weight up your Protein to 90-100 grams a day and don't drink it all at once break it up like three times a day!! Your body can only take in about 35-40 grams at a time the rest passes threw you!! I'm doing it today!!
My surgeon said your body can't absorb more than 25-30 grams per two hours. But I've read lots of different things.

I'm only less than one week post-op and already worried about gaining weight. Psych said if I set myself up to fail, then I will. But I don't feel as if I'm setting myself up to fail. Just realistic fears.

My surgeon recommended New Whey Liquid Protein. It has 42 grams but he told me to split it into two servings due to absorption. And still get 70-100 grams per day. Then after the first week I can move on to powder/milk combo. These things are disgusting. The grape flavor tastes like feet soaking in raisin juice. I don't think I can do this until Friday.

Had surgery last Tue 4/15..I'm so miserable. Also feel tired, no energy I get drained so fast. Only thing I can do is make something to eat, shower and I feel like I ran a marathon. I'm really regretting this also. Plus I'm started to feel hungry all the time. .stomach always freaking growling. .I'm a drinking my Water and high Protein Shakes from doc. Taking my Vitamins daily. .I m just tired all the time. .I lost 6 lbs. .thought I would be happy, but I'm finding it hard to get happy when I feel fatigue most of the day. .haven't left the house since Tuesday when I got home from surgery. .I keep saying I want to walk outside in the evening. But I get tired and winded soooo fast. .really sad. .and I hear people say after 1wk. .they feel great and full of energy. .I have been sleeping on my coach since Tuesday. .can't lay flat in bed. Sorry for the long vent :-(
Several people have told me they feel better after two weeks so hopefully you'll feel better soon! I had mine on 4/18 and can't even stand up straight yet. Not sure if that's normal.

Hear things are disgusting! How do you manage to get them down? So far I've only tried orange-pineapple and fruit punch.

I'm in eastern KY and my surgery is scheduled for April 18. I dread the pre-surgery diet. Actually, I am just scared to death of losing weight and then gaining it all back. Is anyone else worried about this?

Does anyone know the pre surgery diet recommended by Dr. Weiss?

I just told mine. Everyone will notice weight loss and think something's up anyway so I caved. They'll either think I had the surgery since I was off work or think in on drugs. It's none of anyone's business though. People have the misconception that WLS is the easy way out but there sure ain't an easy thing to it!
