    Best broth?

I'm on the pre-op diet. Canned Swanson chicken broth is good. I add a little salt and pepper. The whole can is a serving, it's 15 or 20 calories. 1 or 2 carbs. I just got beef broth, I'm going to try it tomorrow.

  7. Thank you!!! I feel like I'm on a roller coaster! I've had to change up Thanksgiving so we can head to Dallas Thanksgiving evening. I can eat some turkey and a bite or two of dressing, maybe, but that's it. I'll enjoy having our family here. I need to start a bag to take with me, but I can't remember what I'll need and what is not necessary. Last time I took a nightgown, robe and slippers, all not necessary, the hospital provided everything! Chapstick, toothbrush and toothpaste. Phone charger, shampoo, blow dryer and underwear. That's about all needed. Oh, something loose to wear home.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Earlier this week insurance was a no go. This afternoon about 1:30 we get word it's been approved, doctor's office received a fax with the reference code etc. Surgery is set for the day after Thanksgiving with Dr. Victor Gonzalez in Dallas. I'm starting the pre-op diet tomorrow. I wish I could remember what I needed and didn't need to take to the hospital eleven years ago!! Following several threads closely.

  10. Fixing the reflux/GERD is my main goal. Losing 20 - 30 lbs would be the cherry on top. Thank you and congratulations!
  11. You're just over a year out from your revision. How are you doing? I'm looking at a sleeve to RNY revision just after the first of the year. What should I expect? Thank you!

    Dumping 😭😭😭

Thank you so much for this post. I'm planning on a sleeve to RNY revision right after the first of the year. I was wondering if I'd lose some of my regain (45 lbs), I have severe reflux and a hiatial hernia. If I can lose some weight on top of hopefully fixing the reflux and non-cardiac heart pain from the hernia, it will be a great 2022!! I am with you, dumping and not worrying about regain, at least not much, is worth the trade off!! Again, thank you. If you have any helpful hints about eating/getting through the first couple of months, I'd appreciate it. I cannot imagine eating baby food. What protein did you find easy to get down the first two weeks? Again, thank you!

    Revision; VSG to RNY

Thank you! Looks like insurance isn't going to cover the RNY portion, but I think they'll cover the hernia surgery, so that will help. I want to get through the holidays and schedule surgery for the second week in January. I'll have my deductible met and will be nice so early in the year. Thank you for responding! I'm surprised about veggies. What about butter, do you put a little on veggies or is real butter a risky thing to do?
  14. Did you have surgery due to regain or for medical a medical reason like reflux? How much have you lost since RNY? I'd like to lose some of what I've regained, but the reflux is the main reason I'm planning on getting a revision. I just want to get an idea of what to expect.

    Looking for revision advice

Thank you. My husband has gotten their HR lady involved. She messaged him late this afternoon, someone from HealthLink (pre-certification people) wanted to know who to contact at the doctor's office. I hope this is a good sign! Fingers crossed! Again, thank you!

    Revision; VSG to RNY

I'm in the process of getting insurance to approve revision. They do not cover WLS but this is medical, severe reflux. I've been on a PPI for 2 years, and I'm back to 'eating' Tums every day as well. Just out of curiosity, what foods cause you to dump? My doctor considers it a plus because it keeps most people to be more disciplined with what we eat! If/when I do get a sleeve to RNY revision, I HOPE I experience dumping. Limiting sweets and fried foods would be a good thing!

    Looking for revision advice

I'm looking at revision. I'm seeing a doctor in Dallas. Insurance doesn't cover WLS at all, but this is medical due to severe reflux. At first they wouldn't even look at the clinicals from a new endoscopy and barium burger, but after getting the HR person with the company my husband works for involved, the doctor now has a fax number to send results. How long did it take for them to decide it was necessary medically? Where are you in TX? We're in east TX so Dallas isn't too far away.
  18. This give me some hope. My insurance company wouldn't even open a case, my doctor couldn't send the clinicals, nothing. My husband got the HR person at the company involved and they at least gave a fax number to send the clinical information to. I hope it won't be a battle, but at least I know there is something beyond an appeal. Our insurance is with BCBS Anthem. Good luck, do you have a surgery date?

    Any August 2021 Bypassers?

checking in, how are you doing? I'm doing all the insurance stuff. Stress test and cardiac exam yesterday.
  20. I'm doing all the jumping through hoops for the insurance company before I can get a sleeve to RNY revision. Looks like tomorrow is the big day for you!!! Congratulations!
  21. I'm possibly looking at revision from sleeve to RNY. Weight regain hasn't been too bad, but GERD and hiatal hernia are the reasons. I'm trying to find an upside besides not needing a prescription PPI and Tums for the rest of my life.....what about dumping. Sweets are a struggle with me. I can do it, but it isn't easy. Does anybody think it is a GOOD thing, that the fear of dumping is a deterrent? I think it would be but I'd love to hear from others that have actually had RNY. Thanks y'all.

    Revision surgery

I'm not sure where you're located but Dr. Ayoola (pronounced Eye Ola) is located in the Dallas area. I have a friend who had a sleeve to DS revision. She loves this doctor, and trust him completely. She's very happy with her revision. 23. Just out of curiosity, does your insurance cover weight loss surgery? Ours doesn't, but since this is medically needed for GERD I'm hoping it will be looked at differently. Would love to hear from someone who is in the same boat.

    Revision from VSG to BP

Good question, i'm looking at revision from sleeve to bypass due to severe reflux. I'm not looking to lose much weight. 20 lb might be nice, but all in all, this will be for the GERD. I've heard it doesn't not jump start. You might lose 15 - 25 lbs but nothing significant like we did after VSG surgery.

    Revision due to GERD

I was cash pay when I got the sleeve. New ins and BCBS Anthem doesn't cover it either, but since the severe reflux is the reason, is it usually approved?
