I am 9 days post op and decided I would have a margarita at housewarming party...liquids right? Well I was buzzed after 1. So I have learned after the band you become a SUPER lightweight. Yes you can drink and YES you will get drunk faster. But Be careful not to get sick because you do not want to risk vomiting and making the band slip.

1 Wk (tomorrow) Post Op. Glue is finally starting to come off. Excuse the belly, still pretty bloated and gassy.

Thanks goodness, I am not the only one!!! I was banded the same day and I too have the same problem along with gas. I wouldn't wish gas pain on my worst enemy.

Oops I was banded 9/28 not 8/28. Fat fingers.

I have been sipping Soup, juice, and Water and I am frustrated. It's bad enough I am extremely hungry, but now I cannot finish anything I start, not becuase I physically can't I just get annoyed and give up. I know I need to have at least 60 oz of water a day but how can anyone really do it when you are sipping all day long. My soup always gets cold before I am done, and instead of reheating I just save it for later. And between gas pain and hunger pangs I think my stomach is going to explode. I am feeling a little dizzy so I bought a liquid Multivitamin to put in my juice but guess what sip sip sip...frustration sets in..... I need this nourishment, but for some reason my head is getting in the way. Is anyone else having this problem? And when does the sipping end?!?
This is truly bandster hell.

Circa,
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!! Just because a couple of people won't take time out to help you does not mean you give up. Don't let that be the crutch to keep you from your goals. If they don't answer your calls, go over their heads. E-mail, call, stop by the office... BE A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS! This is for your health and happiness, I don't know your situation but you have SUPPORT HERE. We have all been through the emotions, expierienced the ups and downs and went down the road chosen for us. I am pretty sure I can speak for a lot of us when I say WE ARE HERE FOR YOU, with or without the band. No one should ever feel alone, and you are no exception. HUGS

I just had my surgery on Friday with Dr. Ortiz, and i have never been more satisfied with my care than with OCC. Although he does not practice out of a hospital like some docs, the clinic was more sanitary than some US hospitals I've been too. All of the equipment was state of the art and the rooms you stay in are very peaceful and clean. I didn't have to worry about transportation or hotel rooms. They do all of that for you. I am also big on medication and they explained every single one they administered to me. By no means and I "pushing" Dr. Ortiz on you (although we all vote for our doc especially if they did an awesome job), you make that decision for yourself, but if you really want a Dr. you feel comfortable with contact each and every one of the prospects and talk to them, additionally talk to at least 3 of the patients. Ask any and every question that comes to mind no matter how dumb it is (this is your health after all). Search the message boards for questions to ask if you can't think of any (this helped me alot). But most of all don't rush your decision. Happy hunting.

It has been X amount of days and the pre-op diet did get easier after day 3... until today. I have no idea what came over me, maybe it was the fact that in 3 days I can no longer eat as much as I can now but I PIGGED out!! UGGGHHHHHHHHH!!! My tummy hurts, I am gonna gain 5 pounds I know it! Now I am fearful that Dr. Ortiz won't perform the surgery becuase of bad judgement and weakness on my part. So I now have 3 days to loose... dare i say it...8 pounds!!! Now realistically I know that won't happen but I will try to loose something. Somebody say something to make me feel better..ugggg. I was down to 217 now I am back to 222 starting at 224. My scale flucuated a lot so now I can't trust the scale! Lesson Learned..DON'T TRUST THE SCALE!!!

So I begin my 10 day pre-op diet and it only lasted a couple of hours. I feel a little pathetic, then again I am living on LIQUIDS! You have got to be kidding me. I tell myself I am doing this for my health and sanity...but DAMN this liquid thing sucks. Now I am second guessing my decision to go through with this. I need guidance and a little motivation. Does anyone have suggestions to make the pre-op diet easier?
BANDSTERS UNITE..sista in trouble :help:
Thx,

Hi everyone,
I am joining the bandwagon on Sept 28, and I am extremely nervous :faint:. At first I was excited about the beginning of a new me. Now that am about to start the liquid pre-op diet it's starting to really sink in that I am about to endure surgery and with that comes gas pains, possible PB's and Sliming, less Mexican food and to top it all off the hubby is deployed to the Middle East (proud Navy wife). So I am doing something major without him. I won't be alone though, my mom is gonna tough it with me...but mom's hugs just aren't the same as the hubby's hugs..ya know. Has anyone else expierienced this kind of nervousness and what did you do to help yourself along?
Thx,
Sweet

Wow, that is SOOO NOT NORMAL. You really need to call you Dr, and have him/her check it out. And if it can't wait go to the ER.
