1. Hello all. It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted in here. I had sleeve in 4/2014. Was doing good, lost 80 lbs (definitely not as much as I needed to or hoped for) and as of 3 years ago I’ve developed server GERD and bad stomach pains. I’ve also had Achilles’ tendon repair surgery and a muscle tear surgery on my left elbow so my mobility has been very very limited. Achilles’ tendon surgery recovery time is exactly 1 year. And I had both done so to say the least, I’ve been home...not being able to do exercises at all, except resistance bands which I do do. So, with my weight gain all 80 plus more regain I’m exactly 22 lbs heavier than I was the day of my VSG surgery. I recently had an UGI and EGD done 2 weeks ago which showed severe GERD, gastritis and I have bleeding in my stomach as well the bariatric doctor said. He wants to do a revision to bypass which I’m very happy about, no more GERD and hopefully to get some weight off also. Question is; I’ve already checked with my insurance company BCBS and they said I was certainly covered for a revision as long as I meet 2 of the 6 comorbities and I meet 3. I had them send me the info on getting the revision and I’ve read it throughly and it says in it that if my doctor suggests that I do the nutrition classes prior to surgery then I have to. I am going to express to my bariatric doctor that this pain is unbearable and can he please do it ASAP. How long did y’all have to wait for your revision from getting your testing/procedure results back? Did your bariatric doctor make you go through all the nutritional classes all over again? I’m really really hoping that he doesn’t make me do these classes because I’ve already met my annual deductible and this whole revision bypass surgery will be fully covered 100% and I will have zero money to pay. Please tell me there’s hope. My next appointment with him is on October 29th so I’m praying he will give me some excellent news. I’m going to stress to him about my insurance as well. TIA for any feedback

  2. Yay I'm glad you have dr powers. No pain at all!!!!! I'm allergic to all pain meds (narcotics) and don't worry about a leak. Dr powers checks for a leak during surgery and then the next day you do a swallow test with contrast. The stuff they have you swallow is disgusting but take 2 big gulps cuz the more you drink of it the better they can see if any leaks. It's hard to drink and makes you cringe but it's for your good. Just keep that in mind. I was walking 2 miles 2 days after surgery. I had the most awesome experience ever!!! My 1 month follow up is Monday 5/19 and I'm hoping Kay will tell me to go forward with soft food stage. Also if you hadent bought any protien drinks yet, let me give you some advice.... I ordered the Unjury online and spent $147 on prolly a 3 week supply!!! I now smartened up and use the muscle milk 4 pack from Walmart and it has 20 grams of protien and there's also another brand there a 4 pack also that has 23grams in it. Waaaay cheaper and MUCH better tasting. I always get my protien in. If you ever wanna chat my face book is Tara Huffman in Buchanan VA add me if you would like to and my cell is 540-521-5500.

  3. From day 1 I have been using straws. The hospital also told me to use straws too when bring me my liquids when I was in there for surgery. And I can honestly say I've never had the gas pains people on here speak of. I burp and pass gas but it's never painful and my whole surgery went smooth. No pain except my Migraine, didn't take or have any pain meds after surgery and was walking 2 miles the day I came home from the hospital. I am almost 1 month out (sleeved on 4/21) and have lost 40 lbs so far, but am at a stall...6 days the scale has not moved. Anyway, my NUT and surgeon never said anything to me about not using straws.

  4. I was sleeved on 4/21. Lost 40 lbs so far and now at the dreaded stall!!! scale has not moved in 6 days. I'm so frustrated, I get my liquid intake in each day and always my protien. I never eat more than 500 calories a day and I go to the gym M-F. I don't get it. I know 40 lbs is a lot but with what I do and what I eat, I should be much smaller, in my opinion any way. Hope we all start losing again

  5.
Im from wytheville. Need to settup one more appoiment with Kay then they are gonna submbit my paperwork to the insurance company. So it just waiting time then...hopefully gets approved quickly and I can get my sleeve:)

That's awesome!!! So excited for you. Who's your surgeon? I have Dr Kinga Powers. I love her. I'm close to 1 month out and lost 40 lbs so far. I'm at the dreadful stall currently. scale has not moved in over 6 days. Makes me mad. I get pretty much all of my Fluid intake in each day and always my protien. I work out at the gym 5 days per week and no movement in the scale. I hope it doesn't last long. It's discouraging.

  6. Hello! I too am one week out. My SW was 291 and day of surgery was 280 and today I weigh 268.8. I cannot believe I've lost this much weight in such little time. I didn't have any problems what so ever with this surgery and I did it all pain meds free, not even any Tylenol. I was up and cleaning my house, doing laundry and walking 1 mile with my dog 2 days after surgery. My incisions are looking awesome, I have an abundance of energy, my skin is glowing and I'm going back to work tomorrow. My sleeve has been so nice to me, never vomited, no pains at all....anywhere. I get my protien in each day, not quite 64oz of fluids but pretty darn close. I do burp a lot and pass gas and it feels so good haha. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. I'm really really really dreading this "stall" that others speak of. But I guess we all go through it. Best of luck to you and everyone else. This was my life changer and I will forever be grateful for this surgery

  7. Hey y'all, I was sleeved on 4/21 have lost 23lbs as of today (yes I'm that bad girl who weighs every morning) and I have PCOS. I got my period when I was 11 years old and lost it at age 15. I'm 36 years old now and only have my periods when it's brought on with a 10 day cycle of Provera meds. I haven't taken Provera in about 4 years though. My Gyno says my uterine wall is "getting thick again" so I will have to either take the Provera to get a period to shed the old blood, but my question is this: are any other ladies in the same boat as I am with no periods at all and have PCOS and have actually gotten their menses back after this sleeve surgery? My surgeon says it's very common, but I guess I just need to hear it from other sleevers. I like the fact of not having periods however it makes me feel less of a woman also, make sense?
