Items for the kitchen?
Make sure to buy your Vitamins up front, too. I spent 2 days trying to find all the right vitamins I needed. I've learned so much about vitamins recently. Also, if you have an 8" non stick frying pan, that should suffice. You don't need anything extra. Personally, I have a Vitamix, food processor and blender. If you are going to be on a pureed diet for any length of time, I'd buy a Vitamix if it's in your budget and forget the regular blender. I've never been able to get totally smooth things like hummus from the blender but the Vitamix does it perfectly. I have heard that the Ninja will do this too, but I do not have experience with it. For a while you're not going to be doing much chopping either, so maybe a mini chopper if you must, but I'd personally skip it. I am always running out of 1/4 and 1/2 cup measures because they're in the dishwasher. I was thinking about getting another small set so I don't have to keep digging them out of the DW. The other thing I didn't see was Protein shakes. I tried to find what I wanted before the surgery to no avail. Now, I'm finding that I'm getting so tired that I'm buying things that aren't necessarily the best choices. I need to do better.

At what point did you start counting your weight loss?
I love seeing everybody post their numbers for weight loss, but I'm wondering....what did you use as your starting weight? I was required to go through a 6 month weight loss before I was approved to get the surgery. During that time I lost about 25 pounds. Is that the weight I should use, or do you use the weight you were at when you had your surgery? While this may seem like a question that really does matter it leads into my second question...at what point does the excess weight loss figure get calculated? I have 25 less excess pounds to lose now than I did before I started my diet. Knowing this figure will help me know about how much I should lose from the sleeve and how much extra I'm going to have to really work extra for.

They gave loratab to me in the hospital after having my sleeve so i'm sure it's ok

Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
No. Initially I told him how much I lost during my 6 month pre-surgery weight loss, but now that surgery is over, I'm not telling him anything. I'll tell him sizes I'm down, but that's about it. I'm embarrassed to see what I weighed before...how can I share that with anyone else.

Pureed Question
I'm at your exact stage. I had mine on Wednesday, too. I am having a hard time getting all the Water in even though I'm really trying. I've been feeling terrible hunger pangs since the surgery. I am also looking forward to the puree stage. To add to the torture, I've been watching cooking shows. I need to stop the torture. I've got a lot of food allergies and won't be able to eat things such as eggs so I'll be really limited on the puree stage. I'll figure it out, though.

Big day 2/19
Thanks for asking. I'm doing great. They ended up keeping me for an extra night so that was a little disappointing. Otherwise, I expected to be in pain. A little discomfort maybe, but no pain. Yippee!!!

Sleep apnea
I've had mine for 3 months. I have been unable to use it most nights. I feel like I'm living in Darth Vador's world with that awful breathing noise he makes. The few times I've been able to use it for the night I didn't notice ant difference in the morning. Seems like it works for most people but I haven't had success with it.

Any Az sleevers?
OMG. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with mixed emotions. I'm scheduled in 2 days and keep going back and forth about it. I know it's the right thing to do but I'm really nervous about the entire process. It's helpful seeing all the positive comments from everyone here.
