  1. O_o

Still can't believe I'm having the procedure soon. Nervous about this two week preop. I've read so many say after day 4 it seems to get better. Ohhhhh, I'm praying hard.

Just had my last meal and I have to admit, knowing what I know now (after the education, consults, etc) it wasn't as pleasurable as food had been to me for so many years.

Wish me luck and I'm praying for us all.

  2. Hi Everybody! My surgery is tomorrow on April 14th. I was going to get the sleeve but due to GERD me and my doctor decided that the bypass is a better choice for me. I am not nervous as of yet. I just wanna be over and done with this! I did not have any pre-op diet, so I guess it did not sink in yet! lol By the way I am European, and my surgery is going to be in Hungary. Is there anybody else on the 14th? Honestly I really educated myself on sleeve and not on bypass, so I still have lots of catching up to do as far as post-op diet goes...

    Welcome, welcome!

Arm yourself with knowledge. So you can be mentally prepared for what to expect.

I too initially considered the sleeve, but my physician and I discussed and I'd benefit more from the bypass. My surgery date is 4/28. I absolutely cannot wait!

Good luck to you and I pray all goes well for you.

  3. 4/10/14, it was my 10th month Surgiversary and I passed my surgeons goal, I have lost 100 lbs., I am now at 135, yay me. I am wearing a size 4-6, and loving it, I have no saggy skin, just a little bat wing but nothing major. My muscle tone is good, I've made major career changes, I quit my professional job to do something I've always wanted to do, I'm in Cosmetology school full time and loving it, so I don't regret any of my decisions and plus my husband and daughter has been very supportive. I've attached a few pics:

    You look amazing lady!!!! Congratulations!!!?

  4. I work for the hospital where I'll be having my surgery. I have a copay of $2750. Since I am an employee I'm eligible to payroll deduct up to $2500. Outside of my copay for the consults and procedure everything is paid at 100%. If I continue to participate in my employers wellness program I'll be eligible for reimbursement of a percentage of my copays.

  5. Regarding Protein - when my nutritionist recommended I start incorporating them into my current diet I let her know that I hated the chalky taste of most. She recommended I try Six Star or Premier sold in Walmart and Sam's Club. The Six Star brand was about $2 less expensive in premade formula. I found them to be tolerable. I went back and tried the strawberry flavor in powder form (about $18 a canister). To my surprise I enjoyed the taste a lot more.

  6. Hi wickedbeauty! Nice to meet you. I pray that you get your date soon so that you too can start you new life. How are you holding up? This has been a 9 month process for me which was partly my fault as I had to quit smoking. Thank God for miracles....as I have been smoke free for almost 5 months after 25 yrs of smoking. Where are you from?

Got my date this afternoon! I'm April 28th and can hardly contain myself. I'm in northeast Ohio.

Congrats on being smoke free! That's beautiful! I bet you're proud of yourself. Where are you in your journey now? Preop/postop?

  7. Thanks! Hopefully everything comes through ASAP. I've been a ball of emotions. Anxious, nervous, excited...all in one. Scared to shop for anything, but I know I'll need new everything in stages. I guess my summer wardrobe will be cute tees, maxi skirts and workout gear.

That is wonderful Wickedbeauty, I am so glad that you have your approval. I am waiting on my date as well. I have had my approval from the insurance for a while, was waiting on my stress test results (which got lost...). My appointment for pre-op is April 14 and I hope to get my surgery date then. I can not wait to make this change in my life.

  8. Congrats!!!!! Prayers that all will be well!!!!

My surgery is tomorrow. I am to be at the hospital at 12:45 and surgery is scheduled for 2:19...yes, not 2:20 but 2:19, why I don't know! I'm getting really nervous and anxious now! I have my bag all packed and ready to go. Now I just have to wait for 10 a.m. to be on my way. Hospital is just a little over 2 hours away!

  9. Got the approval - now I'm waiting on my date!!!!!

I may pass out from this anxiety!

So apprently I've been holding myself up in this approval process from insurance. I was supposed to call insurance as part of the process, but in the midst of my anxiety and excitement I missed that part. I called them this morning and was told I'd have an answer within 48 hours. This waiting is consuming my every moment! Sheesh

  11. Same here Kimberly! I'm a just ready to get this new life going lol! I have to do a 2 wk pre-op diet starting on 5-2-14 which consists of 5 Protein drinks only and I substitute 1 shake for Unjury chicken broth or strawberry sorbet unjury shake. I will be so glad to start it so I can be finished already lol. What is everyone's pre-op diet like?

I don't have my date yet but I've been advised that I'll be on two weeks of liquids. sugar free popsicles, broth, protein shakes...things of the such. Everyday I get a little more antsy thinking about my new life ahead of me.

    Congrats on your journey!
