  1. How are you feeling?!

Still at the hospital. I have been nauseous and in so much pain. They kept trying to get me up yesterday but I was in pain and could barely stand up straight so I refused every time.
I tried to walk but only made it to the door and then had to turn around. I just got back in bed (at 2:20am) after I got up and walked the halls. Im starting to feel some gas moving, so hopefully it comes on out.

I also think it’s too hot in here, I’m getting congested and dried out.

  2. Exciting! Congrats! It’ll be here before you know it!

  3. I have been on this journey since September 2017. I was completing all my classes and visits, but got off track, I think it was self-sabotage from fear, with my weight. My starting weight was 296 and I was down to 284 when I met my surgeon and he set a goal weight of 278.

For Kaiser in Northern California you just have to reach the goal weight, psych eval, and attend the classes they have. You can go as fast as you want as long as you make weight. I finally hit 277 and got my psych appointment but weighed in 278.8 the day of and had to wait until I got under 278 to move forward. At that point I changed it up and pushed through and got to 274 and was able to schedule my blood work. Today I did my one on one with the RN and my weight was 271.4! I met with her with my Vitamins and food journal and she gave me a surgery date of 4/18/18!!!!! I had to have another appointment with the surgeon and she “forced” me in right after our appointment.

I could have gone to surgery sooner but I have to go to a pre-op class that’s only on Wednesday’s so I have to wait until 4/11/18 for that.

I’m super excited! Anybody else excited for April surgery dates?

  4. I do have questions! From the time you went to your orientation until surgery, how long was it?

What were some of the requirements you had to meet? You mentioned weighing in ... what was the reason for those sessions?

I know I have many more but my brain is fried right now . I have my orientation on the 29 of August. I think I'll call in the meantime to see if they have any cancellations.

  5. I have only been seeing an OB for the last few years. They are using those records to document my BMI for the last 5 years so I don't know if they would let that go for my doctor supervision also. Plus, except for last year I was only going once a year. I do have some weight related lady issues that I'm going to ask about though as well as knee and foot issues.

  6. What the issuance rep tells you is not always accurate. I UHC called when I started my journey and the rep told me that there was absolutely nothing they covered associated with WLS. Turns out the info for bariatric survey was given through Optum, not just from the UHC reps. I didn't learn this until I talked with a WLS center and they called the insurance company to verify, and sure enough they cover it.

  7. Hi, I'm new to this but I was wondering how other people dealt with UHC. My husbands job requires 6 month dr supervised diet, psych visit (which I had today and it went well) then to go through whatever the surgeon wants. Feb is my second diet month, but the dr told me to make sure I don't miss an appt because the insurance company (Optum) will make you start all over again!
