    Anyone else having weird cravings?

I think the one thing right now is nuts, almonds and cashews. I buy two of the P3 paks from the grocery store and incorporate them into my week so I get a little fix, but I know I cannot have a container of either in the house. I could measure out portions but I think I would keep going back here and there for a nibble so for now I am not bringing them into the house.

    Newer You... older habits...

I like this post......can't wait to see everone's responses!! The main thing I find myself still doing is before sitting down in a booth I still eyeball it quickly and decide which side is bigger. The other day my daughter and I were at Chili's, she is 15 and quite slim, well they sat us in this booth and we were fighting over pulling the table closer to us since there was sooooo much room. we had to sit on the very edge of the seat to reach the table. If I sat back there was like 12" between me and the table. Where was this table when I was 300+?? LOL The other thing I am struggling with is my daughter keeps picking me out clothes that are a little more fitted and I am not ready for that. I do see where they look better but I am just not comfortable yet. I am wearing clothes that fit better but not ready for fitted. It also feels strange to me when I take my jeans out of the dryer, yes I can put them in the dryer, and hold them up to fold and they look smaller to me than what would fit me. I can't even imagine how it will feel as they get smaller.
  5. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet, which was started in Feb, as a requirement with Aetna. The first couple months I lost weight when I checked in with my doc. When I went in May I had gained weight. I had my birthday and fond out that the hospital where my surgery would happen was not under contract with my insurance. I went thru a few weeks of being mad, and upset. But once I talked with the insurance they said they were renegotiating and might be under contract again. So I continued to see my primary for my check ins just in case, but I didn't move forward with anything that would cost me money. I then found out early August that they contract was back in place so I moved ahead and finished what I had left to do to submit to insurance which was just my psych eval, So then everything was submitted and I was approved in less than two weeks. I was never told that I had to lose a certain amount, and I think I ended up right where I was when I first weighed in at my bariatric doctor, or at least within a few pounds.

    Unjury protein powder questions?

I liked the unjury ok. I used the vanilla and chocolate splendor. I still have it in my house and have reordered it, but not for me for my husband and daughter. They really like it and use it to make smoothies for Breakfast or lunch.

    Have you named...?

I have a ventral hernia we call Herman, so when it came time to name my new tummy we went with Sherman. LOL

He's kinda cute and that's a pretty good idea for after surgery!!
  9. I was 13 weeks post op yesterday and doing just fine. But this morning, that is another story. I decided to have a scrambled egg with cheese and some ham. I have had this before with no problems. I usually have my 32oz of decaf tea with a scoop of unflavored Protein in it but this morning for some reason I wanted food. Well I made it and sat down to eat it and when I had about three bites left I ended up throwing up half of it, sorry if this is TMI. I have not thrown up at all since surgery and I did not like this. I am thinking that it is because I ate to fast rather than the food not agreeing with me? I know better than to eat fast but I guess I wasn't paying attention like I should have been. Now Sherman (my new tummy) feels awful and I am hoping this feeling passes soon. I had to cancel my gym date with my friend for this morning and I hate doing that. When you guys have experienced this do you just wait for it to pass?? Should I drink something or should I wait a it longer?? Right now I am just reading posts on here snuggling with my doggie. I hope everyone's day is going better than mine!

    Bariatric Stuffed Animals

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but this is what my daughter and husband got me to take to the hospital with me on my day of surgery. I loved it, and was a great comfort and conversation starter while I was there. My daughter found it on iheartguts.com

    Not a good morning =(

@Recycled WOW My post is not a cop out..................I still feel yucky and all clamy. The reason I posted was to see if anyone had any advice about feeling better. I have not experienced this yet and was just wondering. You don't know me, you don't know how or what I do. I don't think I have to explain myself. Anyone with some proactive advice would be greatly appreciated.

  15. When I came home from the hospital I was so worried about going poop my family said I was rather obsessed. Well I went 5 days after surgery and thought all was well. Well about a month and half out, even though I was getting in all my Protein and Water things stopped. Oh man was I in so much pain. When I called my docs office they said to get Miralax and put some in my drink. So that is what I did and low and behold.......It worked!! Thank God!! I never ever want to go thru that again. I now drink 24oz decaf tea every night with my scoop of Miralax in it and things have smooth going since. My NP told me to go to only using a half serving of Miralax now, but I do one full serving one day and then 1/2 a serving the next day. I am just so afraid of that happening again. Well anyway the reason I am sharing this lovely story is my husband and daughter almost bought me this tshirt for Christmas. I will post a pic down below. I laughed so hard when I saw it. I told the they should have, but I think my daughter was afraid I would wear it outside the house. Thought it might bring a smile to someone's face who is struggling.
  16. I didn't have any requirements of how much weight to lose before they scheduled my surgery. I also didn't have to do a sleep study. Thank God. I did have a 6 month supervised diet that I had to do though. But this I was thankful for because I needed that time to wrap my head around all the changes that would be taking place after the surgery. Good Luck with everything and I hope you get scheduled soon!

    Rescheduling?

@BloomingLotus I have Aetna also. I was originally approved and scheduled for surgery on November 3rd. Had everything set, my hubby had the week off, mom had her flight to be here with me for two weeks. Then my coordinator called and said they had to reschedule me because the doc was going to be out of town. WHAT??? I was pissed at first. But I calmed down, I knew it wasn't her fault she was just making the phone calls and had to reschedule 22 of us. She rescheduled me for October 27th a week sooner, hubby changed his time off, Mom rescheduled her flight, and I ended up with an extra week off of work. Bonus!! Oh and I only had to do one week pre op diet!! But I never had to contact Aetna or anything, docs office took care of everything I did have to contact my HR dept to change my LOA and my short term disability. Good Luck with your surgery and here's to a speedy recovery!!

This diet is getting the best of me

@@Ready set go! Your doc started you on a pre op diet 2 months before your surgery???? WHAT??? I only had to do one week, and I was on two shakes a day with one Protein rich meal, and one piece of fruit a day. I couldn't imagine doing that for two months with my old stomach. Did he say why so long??

    Anyone from the AZ?

I'm in Tucson. I was sleeved on 10/27/14 at Northwest Hospital with Dr, Chiasson. So far so good, had a pretty easy recovery and have been losing steadily since my pre op diet. Good luck to all of you out there just starting your journey!!!

    Excess Skin

@sassy14 Was your ventral hernia repair, ab wall reconstruction and panni covered by insurance?? I will be having a ventral hernia repair sometime this year once I get some more weight off. I am not looking forward to the recovery from that. That ventral hernia is what started the ball rolling with me getting sleeved. My bariatric surgeon said he could do my hernia repair when I was ready and when he was in there pull my muscles or tummy area in tighter. not sure what that will do but figured it couldn't hurt.
  21. I was worried in the beginning because I seemed to be able to tolerate anything I tried. I followed my docs orders pretty much to the letter. I was so afraid of being in pain. I am now 12 weeks out and make sure to measure everything. I usually do about 2-3 oz of food at one time. Now certain foods (chicken, ground beef, etc) will make me full faster, and I can feel that fullness. I can pretty much tell when to stop and when NOT to take that one more bite. I have not gotten sick yet, thank God, but I have felt very full a few times and usually that is because I forgot to eat slowly. I feel it right between my breasts, ouch. Hang in there it will get easier as you go along to figure things out. I sometimes joke with my husband when we eat out, I wish I had my food scale with me. But I can pretty much eyeball it now, and because we got out so infrequently I figure I am doing ok.

Tips needed leaving for vacay in 48 hours

We are heading to Disney in March. I am so excited about being able to decide what rides I WANT to go on, not just what rides I will FIT on I haven't even worried about eating. But I agree with those above, bring Protein bars to use on those times you don't have the best options available. And make sure to drink, drink, drink!! Have a blast and enjoy yourself!!!

    encouragement needed

I felt that way 5 years ago when I first looked into it. I left halfway thru the seminar and thought to myself I don't need this I can this. At that point I had no co morbidities and could still move and exercise. What I didn't understand until this past year is the relationship I had with food. When this surgery was recommended to me by my general surgeon I still had huge doubts about doing it. Even when I started looking into it more. When I found out I had to do a 6 month supervised diet I was actually happy for the delay. It let me get my head wrapped around all the changes that were going to take place and deal with they WHY I ate the way I did. Most of it was pure laziness and the other part was comfort. I knew if I didn't have my head in the game I would not succeed with this and would struggle. And that I did not want. The reasons that I turned to food for comfort I began working on, really working on. I decided that being healthy was more important to me. Now that I had waited I had developed some co morbidities and one was the possible loss of my eye sight. I am 12 1/2 weeks post op and doing great. Is it tough at times, you betcha, do I want to go the gym like I should, nope but I do, am I grateful for this gift I have been given, YEP! Now I just wish I had done it sooner. But I think if I had I would not have been as successful as I feel I am now. I am sure you are over analyzing things, we all have done that. But just know that if you can get thru the first two months, following your docs orders, doing what you are suppose to you will succeed, you will lose weight and it will get easier. Make sure you reach out when you need support, I hope you have a good support team behind you at home, I know this has helped me immensely!! Good Luck and you got this!!
